our gift

"Jesus Is The Reason For The Season"

This year I was inspired to start a new Christmas tradition by a little angel name Evan. Around Thanksgiving I first heard a song called "Christmas in Heaven" and each time I hear it, I think of my dear friend Bridget and her little boy who has returned home to live with our Father in Heaven, and after I think of them... I always begin to think of me, and Ammon an what we need to do, to be together forever. For two weeks now under our tree has sat this little red box and each day I tell Ammon to think of a gift for Jesus. Tonight Ammon an I wrote our gifts on paper stars and put it in this box for Jesus. In 30 years I hope to see our promises to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ cover our Christmas tree, and continue to feel the joy and peace that comes with knowing my savior died for me, that I might have eternal life with him and my family.

A cold night on the town...

Tonight Ammon & I went downtown to the annual Lake Steven tree lighting, for cookies, crafts, hot coco and a Santa sighting!
It was a cold wait, with a local 2nd grade class singing Christmas songs, boy scouts passing out cookies and a Santa that showed up on a fireengine with toys for all the kids!

(...and this is Ammon's side of the story)

let it snow!

On Thanksgiving it snowed... again!

A few weeks back I decided to prepare for the snow, and get bibs and boots before the cold weather arrived. At first Ammon was doomed to wear pink snow bibs, and a pair of brown and pink north face boots. I was so thrilled with my Goodwill find, (boys can wear pink, besides he is 3) untill my mom made me feel bad. I am pretty sure I hit every second hand store in Snohomish County, well OK I only went to 5, before I found a BLUE & BLACK pair of snow bibs, Yup I bought them both! Now armed with 3 sets of snow bibs we went to play in the snow with the Fuller cousins Simon & Sabine!

*Please Note the purple hat Ammon picked out to barrow from Sabine*

Ammon made snow angels & ate lots of snow!

Simon wanted to slide on this "baby hill" first...
then it was non stop big hill sledding for him.
This park is the old saw mill from when I was growing up, also where my love for frogs began, I think it is so great that the next generation is creating memories here now!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Soccer Stuff

Because I coached soccer with Becca I was not picked to be a snack mom, the highlight of Ammon's basketball experience for me! So instead of a pizza party at Alfy's for our end of season celebration, I made the Steamrollers treat bags and put their Soccer awards in them.

Ammon & I also made little necklaces for everyone with soccer ball beads & orange pony beads.

I found Soccer ball chocolates and black & orange peanut butter cups ( thanks to Halloween! )

Coach Becca who happens to be our favorite YMCA lifeguard made Soccer Ball cupcakes for our lil players and parents!

Soccer Project # 2
Because I pouted a little bit about not getting to be snack mom, my friend Crystal said I could do her daughters soccer team snack day, as long as I promised to make it super cute!

A all girls team name Purple Power ages 7 and 8. I was on a purple hunt for weeks, and then I found it big purple butterfly gummy treats, so I made the cutest kabob candy sticks for the girls.

Danica my helper for the weekend.

I wish I would have taken pictures with out the wrappers but believe me they were supper cute!

Happy Halloween!

It was a Halloween weekend this year, the festivities felt like they would never stop. Simon & Sabine's Grandfather Grandpa Wizard sent them Halloween in a box so the Fuller family had a lil party with a spooky pinata!
After the Drama with Ammon's  Halloween costume last year we ended up being a dalmatian again, he was comfortable in it and was all smiles when dressed up as my lil pup!
Do Mormons know how to throw a trunk or treat or what? This one was put on by a Ferndale Ward and by far was the best trunk or treat I have ever been too, they had haunted vans, the Great Pumpkin and hay bails, even the missionaries stood outside a blow up house and passed out pictures of Jesus Christ!

I Am White, I Am a Single Mom, and I Have a Black Son

These three little facts may mean nothing to you, but they weigh heavy on my heart. These three truths cross my mind every day but are never spoken of because I am continually thankful that Ammon and I are a family and I do my best to say so everyday. I often ponder my parenting skills and question weather or not I am doing Ammon a disservice. Everyday I feel the pressure of trying to break the mold. Black people don't swim. Ammon started swimming at 8 months. Black people love chicken. You wont see a drumstick in my house! Behind every black man is the police. I am a cop caller! I try really hard to educate myself with African culture, I can make peanut butter soup, I have some African art and Ammon and I love reggae music. So I am sure you can imagine that when I heard that there was gonna be a black man speaking at the Seattle Stake fireside I was there 30 minutes early. Brother Agbor T. Agbor came to speak about ("blacks and the priesthood"), Understanding Gods Timeline, it was wonderful, he is wonderful! I learned so much and had many thoughts and questions answered and best of all Ammon was there and what a great experience for him to see and listen to a righteous black man! As for now my fear of having a angry black man on my hands one day has ceased, Our God is a God of mercy and Heavenly Father loves all his children Especially me, a white single mom with a cute little black boy and I am truly privileged to be a member of Jesus Christs Church.

Example

This picture is the Best, it makes me laugh and wanna cry at the same time!
My Mom was the lucky woman to marry both of these men, Steven is my dad and Paul The Wizard is my brother's dad. What touches me most about this picture is the love and respect these men have for each other, and everyone can hang out in the same room, weather it be for Sabine's Birthday party, a backyard BBQ, or a family dinner.

window washer

We are workers in our family, so I always try and give Ammon a "REAL" job to do, Last Friday I went to get a overdue oil change, I was in Monroe so I had Jett & Jocelyn. One of the workers ask if I would like the windows washed and Ammon cheered with excitement, because he knew how to do that job! The best part was Ammon holding Jocy's hand so she would not be scared.

Steamrollers vs. Turtles

I am beginning to think that the reason Ammon puts on his shin guards, cleat's, and soccer shirt each week is due to the hope that there might be mud and rain. Thank you Heavenly Father for a second Saturday of "nice soccer weather!"
Coach Becca and the Orange steamrollers

Today's was great!
We consistently had 3 kids out playing on the field the whole game and during practice we worked on kicks and all the kids are really good!
Goal!

As for everything in between it was all about the dog's & frog's

Cut & Paste

For as long as I can remember I have been able to cut out shape's and letter's no problem, I use to find it very therapeutic and it could be why I love bulletin boards. So with the school year approaching I got Ammon some scissors and glue.
I think he likes cutting and pasting as much as I do... What do you think?

gO stEAMrOLlerS!

Today was our First Soccer game!
Toady has been along time coming, and I would be lying if i didn't say I felt a little emotional.  When I was pregnant with Ammon I would sit on the edge of the bed crying  while watching Team Ghana play in the world cup and I attend several soccer games put on by the Boys & Girls Club and Ammon would kick and kick. In our house we have always said that if Ammon didn't play soccer their would be a lot of sad people. Those sad people being Ammon's Father Joe and the Gambian community, whom all eat sleep & breath soccer.
While none of, "Those people" came to watch Ammon's soccer debut and I knowing NOTHING about soccer ended up being the Orange Steamrollers Coach,  Ammon was a natural!

Just look at my little steamroller go!
We played the Blue Cats, who were pretty aggressive after they had made 6 or so goals and our team no longer wanted to play we asked the coach if we could take turns and let ALL the kids score a goal, I mean they are all 3!

And these kids made great cheerleaders. Go Orange Steamrollers!

Qi Gong

This summer I found my Chi in Tacoma of all places!

I packed up Ammon and sent him up north to stay and play with Gamma, Gampa, Simon, Sabine, Uncle Tim, Uncle Matt, Auntie Autumn, Hazel & Harvey. An I headed south to relax and meditate at the Extended Stay in Fife While attending a Qi Gong convention with hundreds of other LMP's Seeking CEU hours.

Among them was my sister in law Shannon who also found her inner Wu Qi
The work shop was long and I will say that I did come home tired with 32 CEU hours and some great information but I also came home with a stronger testimony and a reassuring knowledge that I know I am a child of God with a loving  Heavenly Father! I am so grateful having been born in to a home with parents who truly do love the lord. So thank you Mom & Dad for having built a strong foundation for me even if at times it may have seemed like I was a lost cause, we all know that most people have hopes & dreams but I will always have ways & means.
