A day at the Theatre . . .

The local theatre in town very kindly helps the 4th grade classes in all of the elementary schools write, learn, and produce a play. Community volunteers also help the kids write a song that goes along with the play. All of the classes learn each others' song, so this picture is the kids singing. James is in the middle, next to his seated teacher.

James's class play was a sort of spin off from "Night at the Museum". All of the plays were about the early explorers because that is what the kids have been studying about in social studies. James played the role of John Cabot. Here he is in "statue mode" while the museum is still open.

Once the museum closes of course the statues come to life and tell the kids (who have managed to stay in the museum after closing) about their lives and adventures.

James really enjoyed the experience and did very well! The kids even threw in some humor by having a brief cameo from Dora the Explorer (who was played by a boy in a wig).

Pinewood Derby

Well, this is not exactly the Pinewood Derby, but we did like these pictures of Jude playing in the saucer!

The boys with their cars. They were both so proud of the work they put into shaping and decorating their cars. Our ward didn't really make it too much of a competition, trying to just make it fun for all the boys. But I think overall both our cars made a pretty good showing!
