I found out that one of my friends from college is due just a couple of weeks before I am. We have been e-mailing each other back and forth about life as a prego. I told her it was nice to have someone to complain to other than my husband, because as great as he is, I just don’t think that he gets it sometimes, and actually I don’t need him to get it or to feel sorry or to fix it. All I need is to complain about it. All the complaining felt so good that I decided to blog about it. So here I go with all my word vomit and all the other juicy detail about vomiting.
At 5 weeks I became nauseous and have been ever since NONSTOP. It started off as a level 5, but every week seemed to get progressively worse to a constant 8-9. It is worse in the morning than any other time, but like I said before pretty consistent throughout the day. I have come to the point that I forgot what it feels like to be normal, so when people ask me how I am feeling I just shrug my shoulders and tell them that I am fine. If I am not puking then I consider myself to be pretty good. At week 9 however I faced my fear, not willingly, I cried the whole time. My cute little hubby came to my rescue. He brought some drugs, a toothbrush, and toothpaste to my work. I think I have only puked 5 times in my whole life prior to being prego, and it was just as bad as I remember it to be, however I can’t complain too much about that since I have only actually puked one other time since then.
I feel like for the first time in my life I hate food and I despise eating which I actually don't mind. I have wished my whole life that I could feel that way about food the only problem is now I feel like I have to eat so I don't puke even if the thought of food makes me want to puke. I can’t distinguish if my body is hungry or if I just want to puke. So when Bryce asks me what I want for dinner. I tell him that I don’t care I only planning on eating 3 bites and calling it good. I only eat enough to keep me from getting too sick. The only thing that ever sounds good is icecream.
My doc gave me some zofran to help with the nausea, they said side effects may cause constipation and headaches. Well I haven’t gotten any headaches, but I also haven’t pooped for like a week. I have never been constipated before so I didn’t really know what to expect. The first time I felt like I had to poop I was at the doc’s office I was getting ready for my first pap smear, and as I was waiting for the doc to come back I told Bryce that I was really gassy, and I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to hold it in with my legs spread wide open, but even if I tried pooping right now I don’t know that anything would come out. Bryce made fun of me long enough that I decided I better at least try. I didn’t want to make the pap smear any more awkward than it had to be. My doctor recommended that I put more fiber in my diet, so I tried eating some fiber one bars, but just the thought of them made me sick, so Bryce bought me some fiber supplements. The recommended dosage on the bottle said that I needed to take 5 pills 3 times a day. That freaked me out I am not use to being a druggy, taking my prenatals is hard enough, and don’t even get me started about birth control pills, how do you thing I got prego in the first place! Anyways I popped my pills on Sunday and on Monday morning by the time I got to work I had to run to the bathroom. I wasn’t sure if I had to puke or if I had exploding diarrhea. I think my body got confused it wanted to poop, but the only thing that would come out was vomit, so I spent the first 2 hours of work puking every 10min. My boss sent me home, but I had to stop twice before I made it there. Nurse Bryce helped me once I got home. He gave me an enema, which kind of freaked me out, but I was desperate for something to stop the pain and the puking. He waited on me hand and foot for the rest of the day and my cute little puppy dog would not leave my side. She laid by me the whole day.
You get winded just from walking up the stairs.
I probably sleep 9-10 hours a night, not including sneaking in a mini nap if I can.
You have to Burp like 50 times a day even if you haven’t eaten anything, and all of them taste like vomit.
People always ask me if I am showing yet, but the truth is I was fat to begin with and fat people are harder to tell if they are showing. I always had a belly on me, and even though I have lost 7lbs since beginning this whole thing I definitely don’t feel any skinnier from it. I just feel totally bloated, but if bloating means that I am showing I guess I have been showing since about week 5. A big belly isn’t the only thing that is growing. I can hardly fit into my bra. I think that will be the first piece of prego clothing that I buy.
I guess to sum everything up being prego brings out all the b’s in you, which are: barfing, bloating, burping, big boobs and bellies, and beotching to everyone about.
