One Happy Elder

Spencer is loving his mission and really enjoying that southern charm. We finally got some pictures back and I decided to post a little missionary update of Elder Hunt.

" Things are going well here!  We weren’t affected by transfers this time.  Me and my companion are staying.  It’s been fun!  There was a lady that’s in the ward that said she had tons of pecans in her yard and told us to go and sometime pick them all up so we can send some home to our families, so we might do that soon, we'll see.  Acorns are really cool looking and when you get a lot on the ground and your biking it sounds like your popping the biggest, greatest, bubble wrap piece ever.  It’s so fun!  They don’t really taste good though, we tried some and they are really bitter and yucky. 

We are teaching a few people one is the 9 year old daughter of a less active lady that has really bad health problems and so i personally would like to help stabilize the family first and everything before baptizing her so that she can have the chance to learn what she needs to and grow in the gospel. but we'll see.  We are also teaching a husband of one of the less actives in the ward and he is a financial adjuster or something like that and hes really cool he wants to know its really true and not just that its a good thing for his family which is cool and we are teaching them through doing family home evening lessons with then each week.  I like the area its got a little bit to go but its fun."

Eight cake mixes, 18 eggs, pounds upon pounds of buttercream frosting, sore arms, a messy kitchen, piles of dishes, and the look on the brides face.....Priceless!!

Spooktacular Halloween

This halloween was full of all kinds of spooky fun complete with a: halloween party, carmel apples, pumpkin carving, and work halloween festivities.

 

 

 

A Little of This and and A Little of That

Alot has happened over the last couple weeks; It is obvious I am a little behind...so here is a update on all the exciting adventures that took place.

This summer has been really crazy between the pain-a-thon for work, family gatherings, and all the other fun summer has to offer, that we didnt a chance to get away on vacation. I still had to take my required week off work from the bank, so we had what I'd like to call a "Staycation". My vacation week started off in an interesting way....

I bought a New Car!

 

 

 

I have been looking for a while and decided to go for it and I couldnt be happier.  I cant say I've ever bought such an expensive souvenir on vacation, but there is a first for everything, right?

What "staycation" would be complete without a trip to the Hogle Zoo?

And who could forget enjoying a truffle from this divine place!!!

As much as I tried, I just couldnt quite hit that bullseye.....It made me mad! However I did get very close.

 

We enjoyed a day of Canoing and Kayaking at Deer Creek Reservoir.

 

 

 

Although my "staycation" may have ended; the adventures didnt stop there.

Monica and I had a "WICKED" good time here.

 

 

My brother, Kenny, accompanied me to Hale Center Theater to see the hilarious and wonderful musical 9 to 5. We had a great time!!!

Unfortunetly all that fun cant last forever! School started a week ago and my life is consumed once again with homework, homework, and more homework.

Paint-A-Thon-Giving Back

It has been really crazy that last couple of weeks. Each year Zions Bank chooses homes throughout Utah and Idaho to get a new look and a fresh coat of paint as part of its annual Paint-a-Thon which benefits low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners.
I had the great oppurtunity to participate in this event this year.  I was asked to head up our departments Paint-A-Thon team as Team Captain. Having had very little to no painting experience in my past; this proved to be a very comical and yet wonderful learning experience. I did not realize how much was invovled in being in charge this year when I  accepted the overwhelming task of Team Captain. Between finding a home to paint, meeting with the homeowners, choosing paint, working with the paint company, picking up paint supplies, and feeding all the volunteers each night, it proved to be a very busy and challenging experience; and yet I truly enjoyed each moment.

It was so amazing to see the participation of my coworkers and their families as they volunteered un-paid time outside of work each night this week to come scrap, prime, paint, mow lawns, weed, and get covered in paint as we helped this deserving family paint their home. I cant thank each of you enough for all you did and the selfless service you rendered to your community. Between all our very amatuer painting skills, the house turned out great and and the homeowner could not say "Thank You" enough as we put the finals touches on her home last night.

I have tired sore and blistered feet, a nice sunburn, and paint that wont come off my hands (ironically the only picture of me is one of my hand), but all that aside, it was an amazing experience and an even better oppurtunity to help out the community and give much needed service to those in need.

Happy St. Patricks Day Carriage Ride

I hope everyone had a wonderful St. Patricks Day. It was quite an adventurous and fun day. Some good friends from the singles ward I attend got married and I was privileged enough to be able to help make their wedding cake. It was a very stressful experience and yet a very fun experience. The reception was held in dowtown salt lake and so I enlisted the wonderful help of my good friend Monica and my wonderful Mom help to transport and help in the assembly. I couldnt have done it without them. THANK YOU BOTH!!!

After arriving early to set up the cake and finding we had some time to kill before the reception started, we decided to take a walk around temple square, see the model of the Salt Lake Temple in the Visitors Center and take a look around the new City Creek Center (very cool by the way). We were walking just outside temple square with about a half an hour to spare when we passed the carriage rides all inclusive with horses decorated with green hoofs for St. Patricks Day. We walked passed a couple times trying to decide if we wanted to really do it or not. Who could pass up green hoofed horses on St. Patricks Day. Not I, thats for sure!! We all decided that would be a great addition to the night and decided to be spontaneous. We enjoyed a amazing carriage ride around SLC and temple square. It was well worth the money and the company couldnt have been any better than my two favorite women in the world.
