Work in Progress

It's a good thing I have time to work on Brittany's wedding a little bit at a time.  I've been trying to put together our clothes for the family dinner and the wedding day.  We have a lot of coral going on between us and Jesse's family so I've decided to introduce yellow and use some of the same stuff we had for Rod's wedding for my big boys.  I was going to do grey suspenders for Justin but switched them out to the yellow which I like much better.  Justin will be in a long sleeve white shirt and I need to make sure his suspenders are going straight up and down but I think he looks pretty cute in his bow tie.  He was so excited for both the suspenders and the bow tie and doesn't want to have to wait for the wedding to wear them.  I think Brittany will love the look.  I really love Ashlyn's outfit on her!  Annaka....not sure yet.  I really need her to have some of the yellow and I like how it incorporates the grey but it is fitting a little snug so that might be one I have to change out.  I'm not sure about the boots with her outfit but because it will be January and could very well have snow, I think boots will be the best option.  I need to see if I can convince everyone to put on their clothes for us to see how we all work together but that will take some pretty fancy smooth talking!

Girl's Choice

Bekah Andersen asked Tyson to Sadie's Hawkins with some yummy buffalo wings.  They were a big hit!   Tyson went off the "wing" part in his answer and had a sign of a billboard with the Chick Fil-A cows painting "I'm not chicken" (we covered up the "eat mor" part) and then gave her a gift card to Chick-fil-A saying something about how he would love to go to Sadie's with her.  He also took her a milkshake to go along with the cute cow he had deliver the message!

Everything's Coming Up Roses

My dad has always loved flowers.  He has had flower gardens for years.  Back home in Maine we had lilies and iris and I think tulips.  In Utah he had some of the same until just a couple of years ago when he switched everything over to roses.  Roses are such a gorgeous flower.  I love how many different shades and the formation of the petals fascinates me.  I am working on making fabric flowers for Brittany's wedding.  If only Grandpa's roses would be available in January!

McKay's Special Day

McKay was able to take out his endowments while Tiff and John and I were all there in Utah.  We went to the Provo temple which was nice for me since that was where I took out my own endowments 23 years ago!  I do not remember one thing from my time there so it was nice to go again.  I was surprised at how large this temple is on the inside!  I had no idea!  Nana and Papa got a little confused and went to the Mt Timpanogas temple first so we got to wait a little bit in the wedding waiting area for them to make the trip from American Fork to Provo.  Only in Utah would you have enough temples in a close proximity for that error to even be possible!  I loved how color coordinated we all were without even trying!  Good job Paces!!  McKay will be leaving in September for his mission to the Philippines!

Baby Shower

We love Mallory!  She is married to Hadley Ferrell and we got to know her when she came to our home for Thanksgiving last year with the rest of the Ferrells.  They are having their first baby, a little girl, in October.  Alisha was able to throw her a baby shower while we were there!  The Ferrell girls are all discussing who will be the favorite aunt!  Baby Palmer will be very loved!

A Mother's Sacrifice

Trinity had her 12th birthday while we were there so we got to join in on the festivities.  Tricia works nights so it's quite amazing how she can still function enough to make a cake and make time to celebrate with her children on little to no sleep.  I worked her shift during high school and it was not easy!

Princesses and OWLS

Tiffany was great at planning fun things for us to do!  She wanted to do a princess party/girl's night and go to an OWL's game....the first attempt got rained out so we ended up doing everything on the same night.  It ended up being princess night at the OWL's game so it worked out perfectly!  Annaka got her face painted like an owl for the mascot and was excited to have her picture taken with the Orem Owl....unfortunately the quality of the picture was a little less than perfect!  McKell gave us a great little message on self-esteem at the beginning of our girl party. :) 

The Ralphs

Poor Dennis.  Every summer he becomes an "orphan" as his wife and children suddenly disappear for the whole month of July!  Thankfully he's a good sport and is very patient about all of the time Nichole and the kids spend with us!  Here are pictures of our kids bowling and then at the Provo temple after a family home evening lesson on temples.  It was a gorgeous evening and we caught the sun just at the perfect time.  The children enjoyed looking at the temple and then rolling down the grassy hill just outside of the temple gates afterwards! :)

Like Father, like Son....

While I was in Utah I happened to look over to see my dad reading his scriptures one morning and it reminded me of this picture I had seen of his father doing the same thing!  I love that righteous traditions are being passed from one generation to the next. 

This was not my grandfather's house so I'm thinking this picture was taken while he was visiting either his daughter, Shirley or son, Clinton.
