Sick

We knew it would happen sooner or later, our boys got sick at the same time in the middle of the night a few nights ago. They both had fever/congestion/cough. It was a rough night and since Eli is still so little he needed to go to the doctor and have blood drawn. Poor boys. Eli has had a tough couple of nights since then because he needs help clearing his nose and so have I then. Now mama is sick and desperately needs more rest. bummer. This isn't supposed to happen in June is it?!

David passed his comprehensive exam! He is officially ABD -- All but dissertation

Owen said to David the morning of his comprehensive exam - we had been praying for him together for several nights at bedtime leading up to the test.

Me and My Boys!

After reviewing some of our recent blog posts I realized that I am often the one behind the camera. With Nana Lu visiting, maybe I'll get in on some shots. :-) I hope to get a family photo after David's test and travels are finished.

IICS Conference: Engaging Our World

I'll be presenting a paper at an academic conference this July, at the annual conference of the International Institute of Christian Studies in Kansas City. The preliminary title is "How to Think About Intelligent Design: Modern Science and the Christian Worldview." The main thesis is that critics are incorrect to claim that ID is not legitimate science, since there is no universal agreement on what counts as science in the first place. As such, we have the intellectual freedom to integrate our worldview into our understanding and practice of science.

For a number of reasons, this will be a great opportunity for me. I will get to add an impressive speaking engagement on my resume, and I will get to network with other professors from around the world. Hopefully some relationships will be formed that will prove advantageous for future job prospects. Your prayers would be appreciated as I seek to balance preparations for this presentation with summer teaching, writing a dissertation prospectus, and generally trying to be helpful around the house.
