Halloween 2010

The Coombs' Crew had a great Halloween!

On Saturday, we went to a party at Kirk and Trisha's house. Chris was Mad Eye Moody (quite the clever costume) and I was a dead bride. Trisha had worked so hard to have such a fun party.

Earlier in the week, my mom had a HUGE Halloween Party! We were so glad our friends were able to come. The Brewers, The Barbers, The Adams, The Parrys, and The Staheli's joined us! My mom knows how to throw a party. TONS of food, and at least a 100 people! I learned something about myself in large groups. I like to be a social butterfly, talking to everyone. I thought that if I just stayed talked to one person, I was being rude to others. As Mac lovingly calls Grandma Janice, I so call myself,"A Greeter!" The Baker with a Bun in the Oven!

Joann was the Farmer's wife with her little animals! She had some great teeth!

Dean and Carter were both Darth Vador this year!

Chris was a doctor and Kimball a terrifying dragon!

We loved seeing Jessi and Hailee! And all the neighbors and friends.

Over abundance

Our garden has done so well this summer. We moved our garden plot to the north side of our yard, because our neighbor's tree is getting so big our previous garden spot wasn't getting any sun. (It has improved, but eventually the tree or the garden has to go!) Carter has been very invested in our garden this year. He watered (very well) every other day, and anxiously picked anything that ripened. Kathryn and Kimball have also appreciated picking the produce. We even prayed over our crops this year as the scriptures teach us.

This little girl is so cute! So sassy! So funny!

One day, Carter and Kimball were outside playing soccer in their uniforms. Kathryn doesn't have a "uniform" so she came out dressed like this. I love the tutu skirt! She is not going to be left behind!

Kathryn loves her "ballet blankie" and her sleep. I never have a struggle when it is time for bed. We love you little girl!

Soccer Season has Started

The Star of the Season: Carter Coombs!!!!

This year we are not focusing on how many goals he makes but how many passes. Carter is fantastic at soccer and is such a natural. He can score goals right and left. We're trying to help him share the love and get his teammates to score some. His team this year is "Big, Bad, Blue!" His coach is Kevin Burt (again). His teammates are Xander, Tanner, Joseph, and Ethan. He plays at Oak Forest Park. Every Saturday you can find us beaming with pride at our dynamite soccer player!

Black Island Farms

For our first preschool field trip we went to Black Island Farms. It's always so fun to see all the kids dressed up for the field trip. We had a great time! The kids were able to choose their own pumpkin. I'm always so thankful that Chris comes with us on these field trips. I really can't pay as much attention to my own kids as I'd like. This was the perfect start to Fall!

Great Babysitters!

I had to run an errand in American Fork for preschool one day after school. Kimball and Kathryn stayed with Grandma and Grandpa. I think they were all tired! This is what I found when I came home. Kathryn was watching cartoons.

Kinda Obsessed

Kimball is at such a darling age these days. Chris and I always say that we are really enjoying his 2 year old year a little more than we have with the other kids because we don't have a baby to take care of. He really has both of us in the palm of his hand.
He has a little bit of of obsessive tendency. See that swimming suit? Well he's wore it almost every day for 2 months. If he can't find it, he goes downstairs to the laundry room and searches for it. Usually he ends up in a tantrum if it is in the wash or dirty. "My wear my wimming suit" he cries. He has one other one which he can be cajoled to wear, but putting Levis on the kid is fruitless. He sleeps in it and he sometimes doesn't even take it off to get in the bath!

Kimball has also been potty training. On labor day, he put on underwear and wanted to go poop in the potty. Usually I'd be really excited, but the next day was when I was supposed to start school. Meaning he would be going to the babysitters. Well thankfully, Grandma Kathleen and Joann have been patient to let him try. When he's home he does really good, and he's starting to get it at the babysitters. But the reason why I share this is the swimming suit, mentioned before, has had lots of accidents in it! Which means if he has been wearing it daily, means I've been having to wash it almost daily. Last week I had had enough! He had a pee accident, and I told him I was throwing away that swimming suit. Lots of tears but he is finally wearing other shorts. I guess it's good that I've weaned him from it now...because I guarantee he would have insisted on wearing it in the snow!

When asked what his name is: he responds "Owen Jack." (Owen is his middle name...Jack stems from when he was a baby and Carter used to call him Jumping Jack. He hasn't forgotten it, and I think we'll probably call him Owen Jack in some way. Grandma Jannie only calls him Owen). When he tells me he loves me he says, "My love you." Everything is my. "My peed in the potty." "My sleep in your bed." (We bought bunk beds this weekend, in the hopes to get him out of our bed....it hasn't worked YET!) "My have it!"

Oh! He's so cute. I hope I can remember all the cute little things this little two year old says and does! MY love YOU Kimball Owen Jack!

Our "Stay"cation

Chris was off for 2 weeks this summer. We hummed and haaed about where we were going to vacation, and we finally decided to stay around town. I had to teach science camp on the Wednesdays and needed to be home for that, so we decided to have a "stay" cation!

It all began on June 28th where we headed up to Bear Lake for the weekend. See previous post.

The first day home was spent cleaning out the storage room. It needed some serious reorganization and Chris does a marvelous job at such tasks.
We went to a drive-in movie with the Barbers. We watched Toy Story 2 and then moved the car to watch Eclipse. It is such a fabulous deal to get to watch 2 movies. The kids enjoyed eating lots of candy and falling asleep in the back of the truck. Several other times during the vacation we watched movies late into the night. We went for snow cones. Chris watched countless episodes of The Office.


We headed to "Where Fun is!" Where else? but Lagoon! I had taught at a science camp and earned $500. That was going to be our vacation money, so we splurged and bought season passes to Lagoon. My friend Mindy was able to get us the pre-season price (Thanks Mindy). We went on kiddie rides and Carter braved the roller coaster once. He has since refused to ride any big kid rides because it scared him so much. We went a few different times, the kids liked "goon." Our favorite time was when Chris and I went without the kids and got to ride Wicked, Colussus, The Cliffhanger,, The Bat, among other adult rides. We didn't even think about riding any kid rides.

Lagoon-a-Beach was yet another day of our vacation. We went as soon as it opened as to miss standing in lines with your bathing suit (not my idea of fun!). The little kids loved the kid area and Carter and I loved the tube rides.

We did yard work on our "stay"cation. We welcomed a new hammock (gently used from the Coombs) and the kids had a blast playing on it. If our allergies weren't so bad, we may have consented to have a sleepover outside. Chris got the shed cleaned out and organized, finally fertilized our lawn.

Our 5th of July activity was heading to Pine View to meet up with the Coombs for some great boating and beach combing. The kids love to play on the beach, and we loved to waterski and tube. Chris and I were both pleasantly surprised that we could still ski. We invited the Barbers to come with us, and we all had a great time!

Chris and I redid our room one day. We had got a new bedspread, and wanted walls to match. One wall is "lime leaf" while the others are "lime sparkle." It turned out really pretty, the picture doesn't do it justice. It's very relaxing.

We had a great time with Chris being home. The kids wanted Dad over Mom 9 times out of 10. Especially Kimball. I think the whole time I heard, No, Dad do it." more than a million times. I was sure that he would have a fit when Chris had to go back to work, but he did ok. I think he just knew he was having special time and wanted to soak in every minute.

I especially had fun having him home. We had some good laughs and some very relaxing moments. It really strengthened our marriage. I hated him to go back to work, but we sure appreciate his hard work. We're so glad he has a job he enjoys. We're also thankful that his schedule is a little more flexible.
