A Month

Today marks the last day without Jon. He's been gone on business for a month. I remember when he told me he'd be gone for a month. I didn't think we would make it and I was envisioning how we could get out of it - trying to sort out some travel for myself & the kids, trying to break up his trip. Well, none of that worked out though we were blessed to have friends. When I think back on this month, two verses come to mind.

Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us — to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

To say that what happened this month exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. I expected to be frustrated, overwhelmed, tired and angry most days. I'm happy to say that even though those feelings were present on occasion, they were not the norm. Overall, it was a pleasant month. I learned a lot about trusting in God and how to lean into Him. I also realized that I rely on Jon too much when I should be relying on God. My hope & prayer is that I will continue to grow in this area so that I can be an even greater blessing to my family, but especially Jon.

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
Zephaniah 3:17

I just read this verse today in my quiet time. I feel like it perfectly sums up my experience. God is was (and still is) with me, he calmed my fears and rejoices (as do I) that this month was a success. I'm so appreciative of all the prayers, company and meals that we were blessed to receive. I can't even express what it meant to me. At moments where I was struggling, remembering that people were praying. Or days that seemed to go on forever and to have a yummy dinner to look forward to. It was great! i thank God for you all that helped us in that way. And now I can count down the hours till Jon is home! Yeah!!

Lent

I'm not really a big one to celebrate Lent. I'm not Catholic though it seems like a lot of people do it regardless. Anyway, sometimes good stuff comes from facebook. A friend posted this the other day...

I really like the idea. I'm trying to work on my skills as an encourager & prayer, so it gives me that opportunity. And frankly, who doesn't like getting nice mail. Hopefully I check back in after Easter and let you know how it went.
