So here I am, in my final hours at Dana Hall ready to embark on my adventure in decorating.
It's time. I'm ready.
A awkward goodbye party today followed by a giant sign of relief, and a touch of panic, no doubt. After all, I am still me. But I've come to find that you only learn about what you are truly capable of by scaring yourself and doing things that are not a guaranteed "knock it out of the park" opportunity. Who is to know what lies ahead for me. Greatness? Perhaps a few stumbles? But knowing that I am going to be doing something I truly love is filling me with a great sense of purpose, which I've been missing in my life.
My business cards are being done by the fabulously talented Tara at Ink & Wit and I cannot wait to see how they come out. Tangible proof of what I've started.

Buddy Update
Andrew suggested that I pass along the news about our little deer Buddy for those who might be wondering about him. Apparently, Buddy has found his mom and came with her to show her the nice lady who took care of him when he was lost. A collective sigh of relief.

Atlanta is quickly becoming a hub for design talent, and the glittering superstar amoung them is clearly Lee Kleinhelter and her jaw droppingly cool shop, Pieces,Inc. For those of us on budgets, swiping your plastic at this mecca of cool is probably not an option (unless you are happy eating only peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for 3 months- which I am for a particular set of faux bamboo dining chairs.) Lee's eye for combining tradtional style with hip, modern accents is to die for, in my book, and I can't wait to make my way down to the ATL to see it all in person (oh, and see my brother and sister in law too-superstars in thier own right.)Check out the site, even if it's just for inspiration. She even has an amazing collection of hip dog accessories so Fido can blend into your flawlessly fabulous decor (and with Baxter's arrival pending, I am searching for such things- he'll be the hippest dog at the JP Pond.)

Paris Hotel Boutique
I stumbled upon this great website Paris Hotel Boutique, which sells vintage finds from hotels and restaurants all over the world. Imagine serving dessert with these great vintage forks from the Waldorf Astoria, or tea in a tea set from Cafe Parisien?! There are deals to be had, and some items not so cheap, but all with a great story behind them which makes them priceless.
I am loving these chairs above with the vintage Dorthy Draper-esque lamps (both sold already-very sad).
Boston Design Center Dream Home
The ol' BDC- one stop shopping for designers with lots of funding and even more time. The gargantuan, awe-inspiring (and seemingly endless) building houses 78 top of the line showrooms and is accessible only to those in the design trade- until now! The Boston Design Center's Dream Home, which features 9 rooms transformed by 9 top designers, is open to the public- and also gives you access to brilliant showrooms like Ann Sacks, Webster & Co. and The Martin Group sans the company of yours truly!

Random, but deserving of a post...
Meet Buddy. My mom discovered this little fawn stumbling around her back yard yesterday all alone. He approached her and was crying (which almost made me cry, and no doubt rendered my mom a blithering puddle of tears), and he even let her pick him up (probs not the best thing for little Buddy- but look at that face).
Awaiting notice from Mom about Buddy's wherabouts today.
I would not be suprised if I pulled up to our CT house and saw my mom walking a deer on a leash. After all, this is the same woman who taught our cat to sit and shake for treats.

Fresh Fabrics Cheap!
I have this odd obsession with throw pillows. I constantly want new ones and am craving some that no one else has. They can completely change the look of a room without spending tons of cash on new furniture. I am loving Amy Butler's fabric line for this use. She makes wonderful printed cotton fabrics reminiscent of Inhabit/Thomas Paul/Dwell but for about $10 a yard! At 2 yards a pillow, you could whip up custom throws for next to nothing! Add a complementary solid colored flange or trim and you've got some pretty snazzy accent pieces! Life is good...

Back from hiatus....
Feeling fresh and inspired after a long weekend in Los Angeles. An interesting city with almost dizzying shopping possibilities...but I prefer my little Boston. In the summer that is, ask me again in February and I may have a different answer.
Anyways, before my trip I made it down to the South End, home of all things fabulous design-wise, and after much searching found Devi Home, a new housewares shop on Washington Street. Andrew in tow, we made our way through the amazingly unique bedding choices (think Dwell linens blended with fabulous saris), absolutely delicious furniture at reasonable prices and a very helpful staff. I fell in love with a few peices that may just make it into my new home come fall. Absolutely worth the trip to the ever improving Washington Street. Stop by the South End Buttery for a cupcake while you're at it.

Anemic Blogging....
Sorry for the lapse in entries the past 2 weeks, but it has been a true whirlwind....condo sold, new condo purchased, puppy picked out, two big events to finish out my job here at DH....and tomorrow jetting to LA for some much needed blowing off of steam. Phew.
Back on Monday night chock full of ideas and reinvigorated blogging.
