Logo - 1200 Records

Logo for a record label. The dots will be recognizable to anyone who has ever used a Technics SL–1200 turntable as the pitch indicator dots along the edge of the platter.

Logo - Exploriment Needle & Thread

No particular reason for this. Just goofing around, finding things to do with Cosmodrome, and a vague notion to have some kind of symbol for the sewing branch of the Exploriment Corporation.

Logo - Sweet Handmade Ideations

A few ideas for logos for a bakery. As always, I generate a bunch of concepts, some of which I like, and some of which I am lukewarm about. But I think it’s best to throw them out there and let the client decide which are worthy of exploration and which are not. I take them to certain point, not too polished, and figure that fine tuning can proceed from there.

In no particular order of personal preference:

Logo - DJ BASE

I mentioned a while back going through old storage mediums and consolidating all of it on one external hard disc. Sadly, I have a bunch of old projects that I may never get at again, just because of the difficulty of accessing obsolete storage mediums and obsolete programs.

This is an old logo that happily I found in another file, an Illustrator file, not a FreeHand file, like most of my stuff. Off to the side on the paste board.

Originally he wanted to call himself DJ BASS, but that name was taken. So he went with BASE instead. That allowed me to do an ambigramish logo. Couldn’t think of a way to do the DJ part so it could be flipped vertically and still read the same way.

Logo - H&H Ideations

Pretty much just riffing, trying out some different ideas. Some I like and think have promise, and others I’m lukewarm about. But it’s good to get those ideas out. Sometimes looking at them gives you an idea on how to improve them, sometimes the client will make a suggestion that takes it in a whole other direction.

In more or less descending order of how much I like the idea. I’m sure more ideas are forthcoming. Still some doodles in my sketchpad that I haven’t even explored yet.

New Logo

Think I’m going to use this as my new logo.

Logo – Craft Coven

First stab at a logo for a group of wiccans that knit and stuff. The little symbol I pulled out of some of the clip art that came with CorelDraw. Being into geometry and all I rather liked it. Never really had anything to do with it until I got asked to do this. It reminded me of some of the yarn bombing I’ve seen around town.

Logo – Sea Level

Logo for an Australian group that promotes sustainable seafood. Another chance for me to try out a new sans-serif I’m working on, Alpenjager.

Logo – King Carpentry

New logo design. Still need to tweak it a little, namely the bottom line of the bowl of the “g” but I think it’s pretty cool. The “carpentry” is in a typeface I’m working on called Alpenjager. It’s the bold weight and there is also a regular. It’s close to completion and I’m also slowly tackling the italics. Very slowly.

Logo – Vespidame, 2nd try

So, I showed an earlier attempt at this here. I thought it was okay, but immediately knew that I wanted to keep working on the concept. And this is the result. I went through a bunch of iterations of this, and I may still tweak it some more. But...I like it. It’s always hard to be objective about things when you pore over them for hours, but I think this is headed in the right direction. Still trying to resolve the dot over the I. Might make it a little skull. I’ll see.

Logo – Vespidame

First stab at a logo for a piercer that makes corsets. I will work on variations of this and also have some totally different approaches to try out. But I think this has some potential. 

I came up with the name too. Vespidae means wasp. Wasp waisted is an analogy for a corset. Wasps have stingers that they pierce with. Dame is another word for a sexy, curvy mama. Babe that pierces and makes corsets. Vespidae+Dame=Vespidame.

I’ve been playing around with a few logo ideas for ThinkHaus. This is one rough idea. Going for a computer chip feel.

Logo – Funguy Ambigram

I’ve done one other ambigram, for Snug. I’ve had the idea for this in a sketchbook for ages, but only last night did I take a break from doing something else, and give it a shot. I suspect I will do this again, maybe even a few times, in a few different lettering styles. But I think it’s worth showing process.

Logo – DJ.COM

Logo I did for a DJ a bunch of years ago. This was just as the internet was starting to become a bit of a reality for most average folks. He was crestfallen when he tried to register the domain “www.dj.com” only to find out that it had already been taken by Dow Jones, who undoubtedly had scads of money and had had that domain locked up tight before it even dawned on the vast majority of people what a domain even was. I think he ended up going with “dj.com.com.”
