Wild Food – BBC Ray Mears Documentary

It’s not as if all his shows aren’t terrific, but I enjoyed this one a lot. I’ve spoken recently about my growing love for experimental archaeology, and this shows experiments into how foods might have been gathered and prepared. And it being the BBC, it of course features a slightly eccentric but affable academic, Professor Gordon Hillman. The third episode is worth watching just for the scenery in the Ardèche Gorge in south-central France. Every one of his shows always seem to feature really good music as well, this one being particularly noteworthy in that Brian Eno’s ambient work is featured throughout. That makes it quality right there.

To Make A Farm

Watched this documentary on TVO last night and thought it was excellent. 5 people, two couples and one individual, and their fledgling efforts to farm in Ontario.
