Hawaii 5-0

I am still in De-Nile (the river in Egypt) that I actually live in frigid SL. Hawaii is amazing, the contrast of the lava rock with the green is breath taking, the white of the dried coral on the black beach is peaceful, the smell of the ocean is refreshing. Could I really live in Hawii, probably not, but it doesn't hurt to dream.

Halloween

Have I mentioned I love being done with school? Wow.. what a difference it has made for me. I love doing what I do and maybe one day I will post some pics of "H". As of right now, that's what I refer to my salon room as. Back to the post, Halloween was so much fun, we spent the early days of October thinking of idea's of what to be for this Holiday. Then of course, waiting until the week before to pull it all together. Gavin is a Jedi Knight, Cait is a S.W.A.T. girl, Ella is a kitty cat dancer.. (A pussy cat doll??) and Soraya is Peter Pan. It's way fun for me to help them put their costumes together and help them get ideas. Jared and I dressed up Friday before Halloween and we were "Rasta Far i-ans". I just did my makeup Halloween, that rain didn't motivate me to do much.

Ella's Birthday..

This is my cute Caitlee blowing bubbles on Memorial Day. We visited Great Grandpa Thatcher and Great Grandpa Buchanan..

The other morning I woke to Ella.. This is what she'd like to do for her birthday. Since I can't read that, I'll ask, what should we do for your birthday Ella. She'll say, "I wrote it down, remember?"

Here comes the sun, la-la-la-la...

The kids still love when daddy does the "airplane" to them..
They probably picked every blossom off of the trees.. that's what they are for, right?

my monkey child.

Never too big.
I don't know about you but I am so glad their is warmth in the air. It's still pretty chilly, but it beats the 40-50 degree weather. So what's new with you?
Warmer weather always makes me want to grow plants, I invested in a Rosemary bush, its sitting on my dining room table and making me proud. I have about 10 outdoor pots that need plants, I got some Mint for one, and I am keeping my eye open for fillers for the rest. I would like to do plants that come back, so much easier. But of course I am a sucker for flowers so I'm sure 2-3 will be flowering plants. I really wanted to do some tomatoes and veggies but I think I am too late, I will have to go to the sotre and see what I can fish up. I am working on my little salon piece by piece and am very excited to get it done so I can start practicing at home. I have my practical section of my state boards for barbering/cosmetology coming up on the 9th of June. I dream about taking my tests and can't wait to get it behind me. I am thinking of doing a grand opening party, with discounted waxing, deep conditions, styles, highlights for kids (it's in huge demand these days!!) tinting etc.. I will post when abouts that's going to happen.

Trans-ition..more than meets the eye..

Guess what everybody?

There is an end in sight.

That is I see the light at the end of my tunnel. I've heard to "stay away from the light" but I am runnin' like a bat out of Hell to get there. I have 235 hours LEFT of school.. it's still a good 2 months.. wait.. 2 months and I will be free Monday through Thursday evening and Saturday days?? Free of slave labor? Free of the creep guys who no matter how much shampoo you use they still smell like a grease ball? Free of the generics of schools, socials and niceties. I didn't enjoy highschool, and hair school is HairSpray High.

Okayokay.. as much as I hate to admit it, I will also miss it, I told myself that I need to start taking pictures at school, of befores and afters, of the things I love about school the things I'm going to miss. Our hair show is coming up May 20th, and it's been crazy on Wednesday nights, putting costumes together, hair idea's and make-up. It's been my favorite part of school to be free of boundaries and design something the way I want it and have the models rock it out. Last Saturday we had 24 models come and get there hair done for a runway show, I was able to work on 4 with the help of a partner, this was the day after I found out about my Grandpa William Buchanan passing away so I was having a hard time getting into it, I don't even remember styling the first model, but once I lost myself in the work we were able to create some pretty amazing hair. (Like I said, I can't remember the 1st one and I'm waiting on pics to verify the awesomness of that..) I will also miss the colors we are required to dress is. I've actually grown quite fond of black, whites, and greys.. not so much the browns. Whenever I shop I go to those colors. Im sure it will be a big part of my wardrobe here on out. I've always worn a lot of gray, it was my choice color in highschool. People asked if it was my gang color.. that wasn't too nice.

The other transition that worries me is being home again, home again, jiggity jig.. lets face it.. momma hasnt been running the evening shift for about 2 years, there is going to be some adjustment. We all know what an organized freak I am, and I am already implementing ideas and plans to help the flow, flow. It's also been 2 years since I've consistently worked out. I have a goal to start doing something, anything, hula hoop, cartwheels, chasing kids, rollerblade.. on that note, I want to join a roller derby league. My name would be "The Mad Stylist". I don't know that it will ever actually come to fruition due to the roughness of the sport, but when I was 14, my cousin Annie and I would skate everywhere and everyday. I totally want to do it. Okay, side-tracked..

Perfection.

Have you ever played Perfection? The game where you sweat, fear and try your darndest to get all those little yellow pieces into the board within 60 seconds before it POPS and your heart stops. Lately, life feels a little like Perfection, and I'm going to push the stop button and breathe.

I was reading an old friends blog. (she's not old, our friendship is.) She was talking about leaving for her 12 hour day and the house was clean and perfect all ready to go for Dad and the kids. All day she heard about how wonderful their day was going and there were no problems to complain of. She later realized that by setting up their day, their house, meals, basically everything was pre-handled by good ole Mom to ensure that things would run smoothly while she was away. (FYI The house was in shambles when she returned, funny how "fine" to a Dad is chaos to a Mum.)

Why is it that I play perfection?

Here are my thoughts. I love my family so much. It breaks my heart that I can't eat with them everynight and put them into their beds to dream. Damn me and damn school. This is what I wanted. This is what I want. Who knew what a toll it would take? I knew it was going to be hard, I just didn't realize how hard. I have the best children for me. They are thriving and growing and succeeding in ways that I never did. I am positive they long for their mommy in the hours that I am not here, their notes and drawings tell me so. Heres to 500 more hours of school in hopes that we make it that far. (I know we will, it's just so far away.. yet so close.)

I don't know how some couples do it, lucky me I got Jared.

Thank you to Jared. Thank you to Gavin. Thank you to Soraya. Thank you to Caitlee. Thank you to Ella.

I have set a goal to try to be me. To realize that I have acheived what I always dreamed, that I have reached the perfection I always wanted. My fantastic, super sonic family.

So dramatic eh? Maybe it's Aunt Flow.
