Sassy Miss Halle

I have not been feeling well and therefore have been "blog slacking". I thought I should post a few pics of "Sassy Miss Halle"- this is a perfect name for her. Yesterday I said "Say your sorry Halle" she replied nonchalantly "No, I don't want to mommy". Oh this girl I tell you is definitely TWO!!!!!

On a side note I think all my time on the computer blogging and playing around with pictures is making me go blind! I am serious, I had to cheat on my vision portion of my drivers license test. I see a trip to the eye doctor in my near future!

Newport Beach

A week and a half ago we went up to Newport Beach to celebrate E's birthday. After his favorite thing in life: Crab Legs at the "Crab Cooker" we went over to the beach to sit on a blanket to watch the sunset. Well, that was the plan anyway.... It was a warm day about 75 degress but the water was COLD and the sun was already slowly going down. But the kids could just not help themselves! They started with just toes than slowly began bodysurfing! Luckily, I had a change of clothes but we had to go buy a towel from the store on the wharf. CRAZY!!!!!

We had a very special activity with the youth (young women) at my church. They were all given a "Secret Grandma" to spoil for a few weeks. We closed it with a dinner where their "Secret Granddaughter" spotlighted their Grandma. We all learned about how these ladies grew up and the differences in their generations. TWO of the ladies were born premature at home (during the depression) and were placed in cast iron ovens as incubators! One of them weighed 2.5 lbs and that included the plate she was weighed on! All of them had lived through war including World WAR II where they participated in various jobs. The girls (and us leaders) were in awe of all these facts. It was so interesting to hear why "Truman" for example was their favorite president and why. They are actual living history! When I was in Yong Womens we did this Secret Grandma Project and it was very memorable for me, I think the girls will remember it also. I fell IN LOVE with this lady-I wanted to take her home. I just kept on snapping her picture and she would look and smile everytime. She crocheted her sweet hat-can you say adorable?

I love this picture your dad took of you in your cowboy boots. Now you have your own cowboy {and two crazy cowgirls!} I am so excited to celebrate this weekend in Newport Beach with your annual birthday crab legs! I look at this picture and can't help but think what a better place this world is with you protecting it. You are truly a rare find and I love you with all of my heart.

*VOTING*

I have been horrible with voting in the past.  It seems like I am always registered at a different address than I am living and I am always wondering at the last minute what to do.  Well not this year!!!!!  I FINALLY went and took my Written Drivers Test to retain a California Drivers License {which I got a 100% on by the way-it was hard and I  studied!}.  Pathetic really, since I have lived here for four years now but I wasn't forced to get one until my Utah License expired last December-so anyway I finally was registered to vote at the correct address for once.   I was so proud of myself for voting!  For the first time I am so passionate about a presidential candidate.  I don't want to preach but this is my blog and I want to tell you that this country would be in a much better place if MITT ROMNEY were president.  And no, it is not because he is a Mormon.  It is beyond religion... I feel he is a grounded, family centered man with good strong values and ethics. I was first drawn to this man when he took the Salt Lake Olympics fiasco with all the corruption and turned it around WITHOUT being compensated even one dollar!  I am sorry but the first thing this country needs in a leader is more honesty and less "politics".  I was soooooo disappointed that he didn't win California.  To add more insult to injury  I felt very let down by some rather shady tactics that McCain used to sway his supporters to vote for Huckabee in states where he was behind, in order for Romney to lose.  Never the less, I am proud of myself for voting and hope that it is not to late for Romney!  I also would like too add that I read Hillary Clintons book a few years ago and she is a very smart, educated woman.  We may benefit greatly from a Woman's approach to leading our country.  I would support her in office over that slimy McCain any day!

*Saturday

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of last Saturday. We had a typical busy day; starting with T-ball class where Halle joined in with her pink mitt, a nice lunch in Old Town while looking for a San Diego T-shirt to add to Papa's collection, next we stopped at this little shopping village down by the bay {because the shirts at Old Town were too touristy for my dads taste} and were suddenly brought to a halt forgetting about all errands and plans for a while. There is something about water that just makes you want to stop and sit by it, throw rocks in it, look for crabs and watch all the sailboats and ships go by.
