September 8th

My heart dropped to my stomach when Jenni came into the Book Fair this morning and told me that Erin had hurt herself during P.E. at school and that I needed to go to the high school and pick her up. It turned out that Erin had missed a tackle playing football at school and had landed on her collar bone. I took her to urgent care, and sure enough, she fractured her collar bone. She has to spend 6 weeks in a sling with no physical activity. You can tell how she feels about this. (This is her sad face.)

September 7th

We drove to Temecula to spend Labor Day with my family. The kids had a great time on the waterslide, but this was my favorite picture. Amelia and her cousin Ryder had a little bonding time outside.

September 6th

These little orange butterflies are always flitting around. Freckles likes to chase them and play with them, but I don't think the butterflies appreciate it.

I love how this picture turned out! This is what a soccer huddle looks like from a dog's point of view. The pink socks belong to Kelly.

It's not as elaborate as past years, but here's the front of the Book Fair. I especially like how the "You Are Here" red rug turned out.

September 3rd

Not my best look, but Jenni insisted that I needed a picture of myself at the Book Fair. It's day one of eight. I wonder how I'll look by the time it's over!

September 2nd

It was Book Fair set-up day today, and it went very well. I don't think we had quite as many books this year, so there was a lot of room to move around.

August 31st

The fruit paired with the flowers made an irresistable photo subject for me. The flowers are from Rebecca's wedding (Erin caught the bouquet, and I received a centerpiece) and the fruit was already on the pedestal in my kitchen. I love this color combination--so warm, bright, & beautiful!

August 30th

Unconventional as it may seem, this is my favorite Sunday dinner--pancakes. They're so easy to make, and paired with chicken-apple sausage and fruit, they're a half-way decent meal.

August 29th

Erin's soccer team had a pre-season scrimmage with the U-19 team this morning. Erin played well, and our team looked promising.

August 28th

Tonight the combustion department of David's employer had a family BBQ at Kate Sessions Park in the Pacific Beach area. We had never been to this park before and were impressed with the views of the bay and the ocean.

August 27th

Congratulations to my niece Rebecca & her husband Gerrit! Today they were married in beautiful ceremony at the San Diego temple and had a wonderful reception at the Darlington House in La Jolla. We are so happy for them!

August 26th

Each time we get Freckles groomed, it seems that her bows get more & more outrageous. These were orange with sparkles and a big rhinestone.

August 25th

I'm now into Book Fair season, so it is time for copying, stapling, and collating more than 900 copies of everything I publish.

August 24th

This is a familiar sight--the soccer detritus left at the sidelines during soccer practice. We have water bottles, coffee cups, sports bags, flags, cones, balls, sweatshirts, & a playbook.

August 23rd

The sky during a beautiful San Diego sunset--too bad the power lines are in the way.

August 22nd

I was wandering the mall today, and I was impressed with this display window at Anthropologie (one of my favorite stores that I cannot afford to shop in). I took a photo of it and was later stopped by a security guard for the mall who wanted to know why I was taking photos and who I worked for. I explained that I was an amateur photographer taking pictures for fun. He then asked me to leave or put my camera away. I never thought I was dangerous enough to get kicked out of a mall!

August 21st

In the landing at the top of the staircase in our home is a cabinet that I display family pictures on. It makes me happy every time I pass it to see how our family has grown and developed.

August 20th

This is one of our "pet" lizards that has taken up residence in our yard. We can often find him sunbathing on the stucco wall next to the garage in the afternoon.

August 19th

Brian is at the end of his 3-month physical fitness routine for Boy Scouts. He has been good about remembering every day. Today he opted for 45 minutes of Wii Fit.

August 18th

I really like the logo for our community. The sketched view of the mountains and Otay Lakes is subtle and beautiful.

August 17th

David & I celebrated 19 years of marriage today! We don't usually bother with gifts, but David always brings me roses. We skipped out on family night (ironic, huh) and enjoyed a dinner out at the Cheesecake Factory.

We meet at the Chula Vista Stake Center for church, but the parking lot is never this empty!
