Making a Change...

So I have some friends on here who have the most clever blog names..."Make Way" and "Goff Gossip" to name a few. I am racking my brain and cannot come up with anything that goes with "Hicks". At least anything cute and appropriate. So I start trying to rhyme..pricks, ticks, clicks....Why am I contemplating this....

BECAUSE I AM GETTING MARRIED AND MY NEW NAME WILL BE...

LACIE LEIGH HICKS!

Such short notice for you all because the wedding is in two weeks. Mind you, we have been planning this day since May, I have just been too busy to post.

I guess Lacie Hicks is appropriate considering all the "Hick" towns I have lived in doing oil and gas work over the past couple years. Those days on the road are history though. I am now a licensed Texas real estate broker and I am joining the family business in Killeen, TX. We close on our new house on Friday and I am so excited about NOT moving anymore.

I know this is readers digest of a readers digest version, but I promised Emily I would post something!

About that time...

Just when everyone thought I would never post again...well that is if anyone even bothers to check anymore... But for those who do ...here is an update.

We have moved!!!! well kinda....
I have taken advantage of an opportunity/promotion and have started working full time out of our Marshall, TX field office. We still (at this point) technically still "live" in The Woodlands, but I am working and Tyler is going to school in Marshall. We will go home on the weekends for a while, well we will now that we have power back.

Tyler is now four and very grown up! I will post some pics soon, he is adjusting well to the move and is getting so smart!

And last but not least I have had a long time best guy friend turn into a boyfriend. Jason and I have been officially together for a couple months now and all is going well.

I will try to post more often!

No training wheels!!!!

Tyler learned how to ride his bike with no training wheels. He just did it...my neighbor, David talked Tyler into letting him take off his training wheels and he just held Ty's bike seat and off he went. Within 10 mins or so Tyler was able to get started himself and just go. You would have thought he had been riding his bike for months. Kids are incredible!!!! I will post pics later.

My first triathlon is in less than 48 hours! Yeah!

Not much else going on....

Tagged - 7 Random things

I NEVER do these survey/forward/bulliten things, but since I was tagged by my girl Claudia, who is my life saver, I will make an exception.

1. I also am doing the CB&I Tri, but now it is only a week away......YIKES!
2. Watching Tyler play peewee sports has become my new favorite activity...TeeBall here we come!
3. I collect clocks, if the TV and Radio are off, there is lots of tick tocking
4. I am obsessed with reality TV
5. Last week at church the paster said that "Oh my God" can actually be a prayer, but his point was that most people say it flippantly. "Oh My God" is now a prayer I pray frequently when I can't find words. I reminds me that he is my God.
6. I love when Tyler says things incorrectly, for example, mans when he means men, plinano=piano, pinecorn=pinecone, long daddy legs= daddy long legs, slooshly=smoothie, I could go on and on...
7. I am not a big candy person, but I love dove chocolates because they have little messages on the inside of the wrapper.

I tag - Bevin - anything to get you to post again....I know - pot calling the kettle black!

On a happier note...

Things are good, life goes on. I want to thank everyone for their prayers. The hardest part is waiting for the "other shoe to drop" and also praying that it doesn't.
But like I said on a happier note....
I hosted my first family event....EASTER 2008!!!!
Here are some of the highlights!

Easter morning after church, me and my tyler
Granddad, Honey, Sadie, Kennedy, Ellis and Tyler....Kennedy had to be held so Ellis had to be held... and well Tyler...boys will be boys or so they say
We had to bribe the kiddos with candy to get them to wear these headbands... Sadie is the only one who cooperated
Tyler pulling his cousins...and they were bossing him the whole way. To explain the hat...I got that in honduras when I was 16, now Tyler loves it. I even let him wear it to church once...I was picking my battles....I won't let him do it when he is old enough to get made fun of..
Christmas.. I mean Easter morning...All the grandparents fault!
Did the Easter bunny bring any of you tricycles???? I didn't think so.
Pretty Kennedy

Grandad decided to put all the kids to work washing the cars

Kennedy in her Mary Janes

My girls... can't wait until they are bigger and I can have Aunt Lacie girl weekends with them.

I have a very desperate prayer request. It is a situation that I just have to completely surrender to God and not rely on my own understanding because I frankly do not understand. That in itself is very hard for me. I tend to be a "fixer" and I cannot fix this. My ex-husband, Tom, is an alcoholic. He is in a downward spiral that seemingly has no end. I want to ask prayer for his family who are hurting right now and do not know what to do. I want to pray for God to reach down and shake him out of his drunken stuper, because I truly believe he can. Tom lives to drink and is now drunk most of the time. It is heartbreaking to watch someones life completely disintergrate before your eyes. He has lost his wife, his son, his job, his house, his friends and much more due to this illness. He is rarely coherent enough to form complete sentences, much less communicate. He has attempted suicide twice in the last 6 weeks, and was arrested both times on protective orders. He was committed to a mental insitution one of those times. And through all of this Tom stands steadfast in the claim that he does not have a drinking problem. Deep inside of him is a good decent man, but he is very very sick. I would also like for you all to pray for me as well. By the grace of God I have all rights and sole custody of Tyler. Pray that God fortifies me with strength, energy and patience to be the best mom I can and that He will stand in the gap in all the areas in which I fall short. Since all contact between Tom and Tyler is at my sole discretion please pray that God gives me wisdom and compassion when, if I am honest, what I really feel is anger.

5th day update...

It is going pretty good. I have smoked less than 1/2 of the usual amount of cigarettes today. On one hand it is frustrating because you still have the craving, but there is nothing you can do...smoking no longer "works". I keep having to reminding myself that that is the point.
