We had a cold, rainy start to the summer, but it's finally warmed up and we are loving it! Here are a few activities we've enjoyed so far this summer.
Eating outside! We have a nice big deck, so we bought a patio furniture set and have been enjoying many meals and snacks outside. Megan has recently discovered popcorn and she is pretty sure it's the best food around (next to chocolate of course)!
Swimming lessons... Gavin is a fish and he LOVES swimming lessons! He is one of the youngest in his class, but he is also one of the best swimmers. He bravely jumped off the diving board today. Megan and I tried a mommy-and-me class and after the second day I decided we'll wait and try again next year. She loves the water but is very unsure about unfamiliar people and she cried every time the instructor looked at her, so we practice kicking and splashing in the bathtub and we'll try lessons another time.
Popsicles! We all love popsicles and can't get enough of them. This is a new face Megan learned and I laugh everytime she does it!
Hot tub...Mark and Gavin recently drained and cleaned the hot tub so it's ready for plenty of use this summer.
Pinewood derby...Our ward had a pinewood derby race, so we made Lightning McQueen. Our car didn't win, but we had a lot of fun making and racing it.
Megan is very particular about textures so I expected her to hate the sand, but she jumped in and practically immersed herself in it.
Gavin had a blast swimming, building volcanoes, and eating cookies. He is such a well behaved, mild mannered little guy! He was especially helpful and entertained Megan on the way home. She is still in a rear facing car seat and gets bored constantly staring at the seat, so Gavin was kind enough to keep her busy during the drive.
Megan probably would have devoured the entire beach if we would have let her, so we put her in this cute chair and sent her out to sea to prevent her from eating more sand!
