Overheard

Cambrie's newest phrase:
"Mom, I need to talk to you in Personal"
I Love it!  The first time she said it I had to try so hard not to laugh.  Love her.

Zane said after his first day of Preschool that he didn't make very many new friends.  I asked why that was and he replied;
"Cause theres lots of "grills" in my class.  I don't like "grills" so I can't be friends with them!"

I saw this cutie all snuggled up.  She is by far our most cuddly baby. But that's only when she doesn't see something she wants.

Color Therapy

Sunday we took a drive up Trappers Loop.  The colors were gorgeous.  I love this time of year, I love the oranges, yellows, reds, and purples of the leaves.
Every year we try and get a family picture in the leaves.  We have been too early, too late, too tired...
This year we did it,
and we all had a great time.  Cambrie has been my little explorer lately.  She loved looking for different colors, collecting leaves and taking her own pictures.

Zane enjoyed watching a movie in the car, finding sticks along the way, and eating a few treats.
Piper was a good sport and was pretty happy most of the time.
I love the change of the seasons.  What beautiful artwork Heavenly Father creates for us!
I'm glad we took the time to enjoy our surroundings.  I learned we really need to take the kids out to the mountains more often.  They need to learn that its safe, we won't drive right off a cliff, lions won't get us, hot lava won't burn us, dirt gets on shoes, bugs run away, ect.

Hut! Hut!

We have started playing a new game around here this week.  It all started one night after dinner; I looked around and the kitchen was a disaster.  The kids wanted to go out for a bike ride, Blake hadn't made it home yet, and the clock was ticking.  There isn't much time any more between dinner and bedtime...
So on the spot I made up this game.  Now it doesn't sound like much but it was fun.  I have never had so much help so quickly either.  We never made up an official name but it's something like, Hurry before the Boss Comes.

The Rules:
  1. Set the clock on the microwave for 6 minutes.
  2. Pretend you work at a fancy restaurant and the Boss is coming!!
  3. Everyone helps unload and load the dishwasher, clear the table,  CLEAN THE KITCHEN.
  4. Gotta hurry before the timer goes off.
  5. If the timer wins you are FIRED and no one gets dessert.
The first night we played we all made up the rules as we went along.  Everyone was moving so fast.  I laughed almost the whole time.  I have never seen Zane hurry that fast doing dishes, or help as much.  I was truly amazed how fast those 6 minutes flew.  But we got it all done.  Amazing, right?!
The second time we played we had to unload the dishwasher again and Blake was home.  He found this pretty interesting.  Especially since this time Cambrie kept yelling out the time and adding HUT HUT.  Something along the lines of, 4 minutes people, HUT HUT!  4 MINUTES!
We almost made it that night.  We only needed about 45 more seconds.  We got treats anyway because the effort was there.
It's a fun little game.  I wonder how long it will work?

Going Mobile

She really figured it out this week.
Piper is Crawling.
She is even trying to pull herself up to things
Where did my baby go?
Pictures taken on the 11th of September
Piper has been trying hard the past couple of weeks.  She has spent her time rocking away on those knees.  And she really gets it now.  She is off to see things tear things apart.  The world is a big adventure waiting to be explored!
I can't believe how fast time is moving.  I know every mom says that but it's amazing how much a tiny baby changes over a few short months.  Can you imagine learning so much every day.  No wonder they need so much sleep.  I get tired watching her!
Anyway, earlier she was crawling but not venturing too far.  I could sit her on the rug in the living room and that's where she would stay.  She would crawl around the rug but not leave its edge.  But just yesterday, I set her in her room with some toys and walked out for just a minute.  When I got to the kitchen, I turned around and saw her coming out, following right after me.
This little girl never stops moving!

Blah, Blahs, and the Color Run

Ah man.  I just can't keep up.
With anything lately.  My house seems to be in constant disarray.  My blog entries have been few and far between.  My Project life is Way behind, and that is being modest.  Laundry is taking over.  Blah Blah Blah.
School started and we are going on our 3rd week now.  Hopefully I can readjust and make a new schedule that is more fitting.  Now that all the summer play is done.  Man, I miss it already...
I have liked the morning routine so far though.  It is nice to be out of the house and ready for the day by 9:00.  I'm sure if I went to the grocery store it wouldn't be as busy.  I'm going to have to try that sometime.  It might be nice to have some food around here!
Lots happened in August and one day I will have to fill you in.  But, until then we are doing the NOW.  Or maybe the Yesterday.  But not last month.  Moving forward people, moving forward.

Yesterday, (wink*) Cambrie and I challenged ourselves to a little Color Run.  Our stake held a 5k and 1 mile family run.  Cambrie has been so excited to run in her school mile, that is coming up in a few weeks, that I thought this would be good practice.  It was pretty chilly outside at 7:30 in the morning.  But run we did.  And get shot with colored water we did too.
It was a blast!  We ran the whole way to the 1/2 mile mark before slowing down.  Then we took a small breather and started again.  She did amazing!  The last probably 1/4 of a mile she booked it.  There was one little girl ahead of us and I asked Cambrie if we should try and beat her to the finish.  Cambrie, who isn't very competitive, got this cute little smile and took of running.  When the other little girl saw us coming she picked up her speed too.  There was a sprint to the finish and Cambrie WON!
She was so excited and happy!  I'm pretty proud of her.  We haven't been running at all and she did such a great job.  It made me tired!  She loved running through the finish line tape.   She ended up being second place.  There was a little boy who came in first that we didn't know about.  But second out of the kids is great!
I think she liked the treats at the end the best. She is ready to start practicing a little more before her school race. Oh, and Daddy is racing with her on that one.  His choice.  But I am a little sore today.
