Old McDonald themed-Fall Fun Festival

We had a great morning today at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The Round Rock Parks and Recreation department sponsored a "Fall Fun Festival" for toddlers and preschoolers. It was a free event where the girls were able to play various carnival games such as toss the ring on the witch's hat, Pumpkin bowling pin knock-down, throw the fly into the frog's mouth, etc. Every time they attempted/completed an activity they were given a treat or piece of candy to go inside their goodie bag which they received at the entrance. The event went from 9-11:30 am, but it was nearly 10am when we arrived. There were probably more than 200 kids there with their parents, so the park was busy but we really didn't have to wait very long for anything because there were so many activities to divvy up the masses. The festival had an Old McDonald theme and so we started out taking pictures with the farmer and ended with a hayride thru the park. It was really a lot of fun and we especially enjoyed sharing the time with our dear friends Dani & Becca. Thanks again to Dani for filling me in on the event!

 

**Bonus - Savannah LOVES school buses and points them out constantly. She always wants to ride one and talks about how she is a big girl and can ride one now. Lucky for us there was one parked right beside our car in the parking lot, so she got to see it up close and see that she still has some growing to do before she can ride on one. :-)

Dare I say it?

...Savannah is certifiably toilet-trained! Yay. We are so grateful that she seems to have mastered the concept of doing her business in the potty. She's remained dry now for nearly a week through car rides, day trips, naps, and even through the night in most cases. She loves her big girl panties and is glad to keep the characters (Disney princess, Kai-lan, Spongebob, Wonder Pets, etc.) on them "happy." I'm excited about the lack of mess to deal with and the cost savings of her being out of pull-ups/diapers during the day. We're talking big money here! lol. I can only dream of the day that Lexi will follow suit...

 

Our own Dora & Boots

For Halloween the girls are excited to dress up as a couple of their favorite characters. So Lexi doesn't quite resemble the Boots from the cartoon but she got to pick her monkey costume and Savannah is totally committed to wearing the "Dora Hair" because they both LOVE their costumes. It is so fun to see how excited they are and to see them dressed up so cute. They'll get to wear these in public for a couple of Halloween/Fall festival parties this weekend. In case we don't see ya this weekend - Happy Halloween everyone!!!

Sweet Berry Farm Pumpkin Patch

 

We had so much fun at the pumpkin patch last weekend that we decided to head to Marble Falls for another fun family day at Sweet Berry farm.  We met up with our friends the Gillooly's, Berzin's, and Zielnicki's again. What a different experience we had here in comparison to last weekend and even last year. There was no entry fee so first stop was to the ticket lines to purchase tickets for the different activities. That line took awhile. Then we stood in line for over an hour for pony rides. Luckily there were lots of other kids to keep Savannah and Lexi happy and entertained. But I seriously felt like we were at a major theme park with the long lines/waits and the crowds of people. We did enjoy ourselves though and took another fun hay ride before we all headed off to lunch at Chili's on the riverfront.

Elgin Pumpkin Festival

This year we went to the pumpkin patch "prior" to the Halloween holiday. :-)
We went along with friends to the Pumpkin Festival at the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm. It was a great farm and very organized with fun activities for the kids. The girls especially enjoyed taking a hay ride from one center to the next. We enjoyed a corn maze, face painting, a couple of playgrounds and plenty of tractors, hay bales, and pumpkins to climb on.

Lexi's first dental visit

The girls and I went in for a dental cleaning. It was Lexi's first time and she did great. She and Savannah both enjoyed brushing the teeth of a stuffed dinosaur, watching their favorite cartoons on the television, and helping inspect my teeth. Dr. Temesgen has already offered them jobs once they finish dental school. :-)

General Conference

We are blessed twice per year to sit at the feet of prophets and hear the counsel of the Lord during the general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For the kids sake we affectionately call General Conference weekend "pajama church" because we stay in our pajama's and watch it broadcast on the television.
