big yellow bus & a project

there are many firsts with your first born child and today was a day that ev has been waiting a long time for. a ride on the big yellow school bus! granted we only went down the street to a local farm, not even a mile away. i wish i could have caught the grin on his face, it makes me smile the same way just thinking about it. it is so rare to get one-on-one time when you have more then one child so today was especially nice for the both of us!

the kids had a fun time at the farm petting animals, picking out pumpkins, a hay ride, etc. but i think the kids would have been just as happy driving around in the big yellow bus.

Five is Fun!

onto my latest project, it has been awhile. it always seems like this is the time of year i have to pull out my trusty sewing machine, for making costumes [i only made ev's this year]. anyway i remember putting good old kenmore away a few months back thinking she needs a tune up, something is not right. but of course that got put on the back burner until i had to pull her out again. only this time i also pulled out the manual that came with her. low and behold she does not need a tune up, it was the person using her that had the problem.

i know i am not perfect at sewing [something i did not inherit from my mother] but i still try. last night i pulled out good old kenmore and dusted her off. now that she is all fixed and ready to go, i whipped this book cover out while watching my trashy shows [oh how i love my dvr!].

i also made a few of the most simple, yet my favorite book marks [a ribbon with buttons] at sewing night [thank you girls for letting me join back in the fun]. if you know me well enough i love instant gratification and last night i got it!

what we have been doing...

since it has been quite smokey outside and schools are canceled we have been trying to do as many inside activities as we could. we were able to hit the mall, chuck e cheese, watched a few movies and when the air seemed a little better we headed to the park.

"F" is for FIRE

i first want to thank everyone who has called or emailed expressing their concern for our family. we are still in our home and are doing well.

i always thought i was a pretty organized person but there have been a few jobs i often put on the back burner, such as organizing our filing cabinet. so last night when i was trying to locate all of our important documents i tackled the dreaded grey filing cabinet and now it looks beautiful! i often walk by, get the key to open it and just stare in awe at my amazing filing:)

the best part about these fires [if there is one] is that we get to have aaron home [his school is closed]. my weather man is loving to read and watch these crazy fires, which i am grateful for!

a view close to our home, this fire is about 9 miles from our home. but the wind is going away from us, thank goodness.
last week for preschool we studied the letter "F", great timing huh!?

halloween fun

this past weekend we had a fun time at a friends halloween party.

these spiders were one of our party treats that we brought. ps, i know spiders have 8 legs but i could only fit 6:)
you probably could have guessed what my boys were going to be for halloween.

for me, the best part was seeing my 3 star wars fans all dressed up having the best time of their lives.

darth vador

since we were not busy enough in september i thought it would be fun to take the kids to disneyland one afternoon. yes i should have been packing since i was leaving in 2 days, cleaning, etc. but whats more fun? so off we went...

the boys are in heaven at this store, their eyes are always 10x bigger from the magic of legos.

with the help of his "over zealous mother" in the front row, ev was lucky enough to fight darth vador this time around [last time he fought darth maul].

it is so enjoyable to see the excitement in your kids eyes, i love living close to so many fun things! heck, even i turn into a kid at disneyland:)
