Brody's 1yr Pictures
I realize that he is almost 15 months soon, so these are a little late. I thought I would share with all of you considering no one has really seen them yet. My friend, Lanay took them for her portfolio and I think they turned out really good. She wanted to have some pictures of a baby attacking his first birthday cake, but Brody wasn't listening to her direction. He could care less about the cake and really wanted to just play with the balloons. After many tries, here he is looking somewhat interested.

California fire update
For those of you that don't know, California is having some major wildfires and we are amongst one. It is called the Santiago fire and started in the hills east of Irvine on Sunday evening and has spread since then to only a few miles from us. The local newspaper was kind enough to create a map of where the fire has burned/is burning. It hasn't been updated since this morning, so John added some color to it. The pink area is the burn area as of this morning. The blue area is where the fire is currently burning and where everyone has been evacuated. The black dot with yellow in the center is where we live. The black dot with aqua in the center is where John is working right now. To get an idea of distance, his work is about 1 mile from home.
Pretty scary, huh! Here is another shot from our back patio today. It is definitely more impressive at night. The whole sky lights up from the flames and there is a beautiful glow.
The fire is heading down toward a lot of our ward families homes and our ward building that backs up to a ravine of open dry vegetation. This weekend was supposed to be very busy for us (i.e. primary program practice/pizza party, trunk or treat activity, and the Sacrament Primary Program on Sunday (I am in charge) , oh and BYU vs San Diego game with my parents in town). The BYU game was rescheduled for Dec because of San Diego's horrible fires and that means my parents aren't coming now. So, we might be looking at nothing to do this weekend. There is not much we can do anyway. The air outside is awful, just like you are right next to a campfire, it reeks! And there are a lot of road and freeway closures from other fires so that means we won't be traveling anywhere either. Might as well just enjoy it!

Pumpkin Fun
Last week, some of my playgroup friends and I, took our kids to the Irvine Park Railroad. It is a train that you can ride through the Irvine Regional Park. They have tons of things to do based on the time of year it is. Since it is Fall, they had pumpkins everywhere, haunted house, hay maze, pony rides, and bounce house, and a lot more. Of course, not everything is free unfortunately. We went on the train which was really neat, because it takes you back by the zoo that they also have there. Brody was pretty enthralled by the whole experience. There were moms and their kids everywhere with the kids dressed up in there pumpkin gear. Brody wore his skeleton shirt thanks to Grandma Brown. All in all, a very fun day.

I'm Back!
Wow! It has been so long since I posted pictures. I know you all have been waiting patiently with even a few kind requests for updates. So, here is the time you have been waiting for! Are you ready for a picture overload? Let's get to it!
My mom trying to entertain Brody through the game with my dad in the background. Brody was surprisingly very good through the help of my mom and the huge Polynesian family behind us entertaining him.
Here is Denny in action. Our family calls him Denny but his real name is Dennis. If you were confused. He is to the far left. During this time of the game, we could see that he was chatting it up with the UCLA player across from him for a long time. Who knows what they were talking about.

BYU vs UCLA
See, I told you that it is been forever since I posted. This game was the beginning of Sept. Man, I am such a slacker! Anyway, John, Brody and I were planning on driving up to the game at the Rose Bowl. The day started out to be really great. My dad stayed with us the night before, we all went to breakfast that morning and Brody was happy. We put Brody down for a nap and then my dad left to pick up my mom at the airport. We were planning on all meeting at the game. This is where things started downhill. We left to0 late for the game, sat in traffic forever because of a bad accident on the 5 freeway, Brody cried way too many times, I had to go to the bathroom twice, John got mad at me for having to go to the bathroom twice, the game already started and BYU was losing, we were still in traffic on the 134, 2nd quarter started and BYU still losing, got the parking of the Rose Bowl and realized that I forgot my ID to get my Will Call ticket that Denny left for us, walked about 2 miles to get to the stadium, John just had surgery on his toe the week before so he couldn't walk fast, we finally get to the stadium and begged to get me in with tears building up in my eyes, BYU down 0-17. I changed my attitude from horrible to ok and that's when things started looking up. The ladies at the Will Call very nice, Brody won them over with his cuteness, we found something in John's wallet with my name on it, and they let us through. We found my parents, saw my old friend Kierstin, saw some other people I knew, saw all of my family, BYU came out of there losing streak and almost won the game. John said I just needed a little more faith. I guess he was right. Sometimes I don't like when he is right. Here is a picture of Brody with His Uncle Denny (#32) after the game. Denny had a great game that day. We were sorry we missed half of it!

Utah Trip
Brody and I flew to Utah to visit my parents just for a few days toward the end of September. My Grandmother Boyd was in town from Florida so we came up to really see her and the rest of the family. We had a great time, but it seemed too short! Brody enjoyed playing with his cousin Brooklyn. She seemed a little bugged when he was hording in on all of her toys. This is a cute picture of the both of them.
It looks like Brody was trying to kiss her, but I really think he was trying to wrestle her!

I wasn't able to stay for the BYU vs Air Force game that week, but we did manage to go to some of their practices. I met my old roommates Krystal and Missy and her husband Shawn one afternoon at the field. We had to be pretty sneaky considering they only allow family in. We had tons of fun chatting it up, while Shawn was supper excited about watching the players. Great day! Thanks ladies!
