TEMPLATES/TUTORIALS: FELT BIRD TREE DECORATIONS (MEGGIE CAT)

I know the title says felt, but double-sided card stock will also work...and work well! After opening the link (click TEMPLATES/TUTORIALS, above), left click on the two pages of instructions to enlarge them for reading. The templates can either be saved to your hard drive or enlarged (left click) for printing. If printed on an ink jet transparency, the template will be 'see-through' and allows you to place it over a selected area of patterned paper (or fabric). Don't forget to add glitz so your birds will be fine feathered...

Don't want felt? There's always paper. This is a great tutorial, regardless of what you use.

I used circle punches when I made them from paper, and a die in my Sizzix to cut paper, felt and other fabrics.

Two ways to avoid frays and fuzzies if using a fabric that ravels: apply a thin line of a sealant (Dritz Fray Check, Aleene's Stop Fraying, acrylic medium, white glue, etc.) along the edges AFTER cutting the petals; with the wrong sides together, bond (iron-on fusible, glue, etc.) two pieces of fabric together BEFORE cutting the circles.

An air erasable marking pen is found in fabric shops and departments. They're a great notion to have in your stash. Same old rule applies: pretest to ensure the marker will disappear in time.
