the annual richfield trip

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Richfield, Utah! Hercules' family has been going there for years (this year being my 5th). We go visit the cemeteries in the surrounding towns (to decorate family members' graves - we also found some of my family members' graves at the Redmond and Salina cemeteries) and we ride the ATV's. It is such a fun tradition that we look forward to each year! It is great to spend time with family, and to ride the ATV's (this year we also brought "Old Blue", the motorcycle), eat lots of food (BBQ's at the park), and play games. I decided to post some pictures of our weekend. This first one is all of the family that was there for the weekend. (This is Hercules' Mom's side of the family.) The only member of the fam missing was Doug, Kristen's husband.

This is Hercules' family. It was great that we were all able to go and be there for the whole weekend!

The kids were having fun chasing each other around in their "4-wheelers"!!

Hercules and She-Ra at the Sunday evening BBQ at the Richfield park!

Branden and Anthony always wanted to go with "Uncle Hercules" on the ATV's! It was so cute! This is our little 3-wheeler. We named her "Gloria".

Here I am on "Old Blue". I learned how to drive the motorcycle this weekend! It was so fun, I wanted to drive it every chance I could!

As our nephew, Branden, would say: "Hercules is out there foolin' around!"

Here we are having a little PS time, during our fun day of riding. "We look tan", you say??? Nope, that is just the Richfield DIRT!

a.i. chat

So, as I'm sure you have guessed, I am a little bummed about the American Idol results. I like Jordin and am happy for her, but I really hoped Blake would win. Jordin is cute and I love her personality and she does have an amazing and beautiful signing voice. BUT, it's Blake's CD that I can't wait to buy! So, Blake, hurry up and finish the summer tour so that you can start working on your new album!! Oh, one more thing, I predict that Blake will be the most popular out of the contestants this season and will sell more than Jordin, Melinda, and the others. :)

grandchild # 27

Isabella was born on Friday, May 11th, to Lantz and Tennisa. Grandchild # 27. Yep, that's right. My parents have TWENTY-SEVEN grandchildren! There are 3 on Hercules' side of the family, so total for us is 30. We have 30 neices and nephews to love and spoil! They are all SO adorable and fun and the BEST neices and nephews ever!!! Here is a picture of the beautiful Isabella.

Isn't she GORGEOUS??!! Look at that cute face!!! She is so sweet! Saley and Grant, her older sister and brother, just love and adore her!

random rambling

First I have to give a shout out to Blake! Did anyone watch American Idol this week? It wasn't a great show, overall, but I thought Blake did fine. I actually liked his 2 songs. I hope he wins! Which is why I'm even doing this post today. Everyone needs to VOTE FOR BLAKE!!! I'm a little worried about him making it past Melinda and Jordin. It seems like MOST everyone I talk about Idol with wants Blake to win too. Hercules wants Blake to win too - even though he thinks "Blake belongs in a boy band"! Blake is the best! He knows exactly who he is and what kind of music he will make. I can't wait to buy his first cd! I love Jordin but I don't think she knows what kind of music she would do. And Melinda ... hello??? She has NO IDEA what kind of music she will do. It seems to me like she doesn't know anything ... except how to sing well. That is why Blake needs to win! I voted for my first time this season (during the top 12) this week because I'm worried about Blake. SO, this is my plea to my fellow American Idol fans! VOTE FOR BLAKE!!! You don't have to admit to anyone that you are a "voter"! You can keep it as your own little secret. Just be sure to vote for Blake for the next few weeks!! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

Next I just want to complain. I haven't been running once since my half-marathon. How sad is that??? My foot is still bothering me. Today it has been throbbing a little bit. It is killing me that I can't run on it yet. I will sit and daydream about going on a run after work - especially because the weather has been so nice. My friend, Debbie, said that it's a good thing I didn't hurt my foot before the half-marathon. She's right. That would have been worse to not be able to run the half at all. I was going to start running on it at the end of this week but on Monday it started hurting and throbbing again. Yesterday and today? Throbbing. I'm going to try and take it easy this weekend and then I'll see how it is at the beginning of next week. Hopefully on Monday I can go out for a little run! I'll let you know what happens.

When I was younger my family had a white Chevrolet truck with a carpet kit in the back. I totally remember driving to my Grandparents house in Orem with my Mom and Dad in the front and all us kids piled in the back! Actually, I remember driving in that truck a lot. Once on our way to Denver, Colorado, we left really early in the morning and ate pop tarts and granola bars in the back so that we didn't have to make an extra stop for breakfast. Funny thing is, I was so excited because I loved pop tarts and we didn't buy them a lot growing up. I also remember Spencer listening to Chicago's "You're The Inspiration" cassette tape on that trip. Many times we all piled in that truck for our Jackson trips. We would pile in there after running the river. For some reason I never noticed if it smelled wet and muggy in there. We were all too busy talking about how good we hit (or didn't hit) Big Kahuna and how funny "so and so's" face looked as he/she fell out of the raft and into the river! Or how we are the BEST water-fighters ever on the river! We also took the truck when we would get all cleaned up just so that we could hop back in the truck (which was probably still wet from earlier in the day) and drive into Jackson for our "night on the town". We were all in the back of the truck when Mason (about 2 years old) said the famous line to Marcelle, his Mom, after she told him he had really misbehaved in Church (in Jackson) and that she wasn't happy about it: "Sorry Charlie"! We couldn't hold it in and all of us laughed and laughed and laughed! Marcelle even laughed! (Although she had to hurry and walk away from the truck so that Mason didn't see her laughing.) The white Chevy truck was also taken on every deer hunt - carpet kit and all. I remember the time I rode home from the La Sal mountains with a dead deer sharing the carpet kit with me and a few siblings. Luckily, the deer was under the middle section of the carpet kit. But it was still pretty nasty to ride home with that dead deer. I don't think I slept much that ride home. EEEEWWW!!!! Now to the reason I even wrote this paragraph about the beloved white Chevy truck. Remember how I mentioned driving to my Grandparents house in Orem with all of us kids piled in the back? On each trip a few things happened, and it just wasn't the same without them: Lars would do his comedy routine of one-liners (which STILL to this day makes us laugh very hard!! Maybe it's Lars more than the one-liners? Nope, I'm sure it's a combination of both!), we would play the ABC game, but best of all was the Utah Jazz game. We would all say these words together: "The Utah", and then we would all take a deep breath and inhale as much air as we possibly could (the older ones having the advantage because their lungs were bigger .... or something), and then we would all say "Jazz" at the same time and hold it out for as long as we had air! It would go something like this: "The Utah ... (big deep breath) ... Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!" It went on and on and on. I don't think we had a reigning champion or anything, and I'm sure we had a few people trying to cheat. (Not me, of course!) Anyway, we did it for our love of the Utah Jazz! And after last night, who doesn't love the Utah Jazz again? I do!
