quick note

Just a quick note to let you know we are still alive. I am still slowly painting the trim. The only time I can paint is when Aubrey is sleeping which isn't much! The SE AK fair is this weekend. Tomorrow is a parade and then we'll head to the fair. It really isn't much, but it is something fun and different. The logging show is a hit, as well as the Juneau Jumpers....a jump rope club. they do the coolest tricks! and fair food...yummy! So, we'll have a busy day and then maybe I can get some time on the computer on Sunday to post some pictures from the last little while. the days are getting shorter so we are squeezing the summer for all it is worth! looking forward to picking berries and cherries. hopefully more fish too.....

Summer fun

Humm. yes it is sunny outside and we are inside... wonder why?!?
We are going outside right after I post this! =-)

I saw on a blog the recipe for oobleck and decided to give it a try.. super cool!

2 cups corn starch and 1 cup water. beware of food coloring... it will also color hands! it acts like a liquid when delt with gently and like a solid when delt with more roughly.

Ok...here is the new trim color...is it hideous??? sure hope not because I have finally finished 2 windows and am not redoing it! I still have....too many more to do!

My first finished quilt. a layer cake sewed together and the left over pieces make the binding...

My second finished quilt top is going to be quilted soon!!

Summer....

Today got up to 82! WHEW>>>>HOT!!!!

Aubrey is so cute when she reads to her dolls and rocks them....

She didn't really like being still for this hair do...she isn't used to me combing that far down... she did better the second time...

Oh, boo.....I was trying to get the freckles that are appearing on Carson's nose.... can't really see them on here... =-( But they are so cute!

4th of July

Yes... we are alive!

Summer has kept us busy. We've tried to go hiking at least once a week, but might not make it this week as it might be too hot!! =-)

The 4th of July is a big deal around here. Friday started off with the Haines Volunteer Fire Dept Annual BBQ. Yummy!!

Saturday morning we had a breakfast potluck. Then rushed off to get a ride on one of the firetrucks in the parade. Carson doesn't realize how special he is to be able to do this in every parade of the year! The friends of the library have a burger feed at the park right after the parade. We also joined in the hose battle and the foot races. We watched the mad raft race later in the evening.. Then the kids and I crashed while Danny helped with the fireworks. They can't light them off till about 11...and it is still too light then, really!

Anyway we had lots of fun. So here are some random picts of the day.....
