10 Reasons Why I Would Like To Be a Turtle

10.) They can run fast ~~~ Some land turtles can actually out run a human on level ground.

9.) They can swim and don’t have to worry about looking like a whale in a swimming suit, everyone thinks turtles are cute no matter what they are wearing and they can hold their breath for a LONG time and swim really fast ~~~ The green sea turtle can stay under water for over five hours without coming up for air and when in danger can swim almost 20 miles an hour to escape.

8.) They can have a very long peaceful life ~~~ Age 80 is middle-aged for galapagos tortoises.

7.) It would be so nice to just put a heat lamp above your belly when pregnant so you can have a girl or strap on an ice pack if you want a boy ~~~ When in the eggs, turtles take about 2 months to incubate and their sex is determined by the temperature. Under 29 degrees they become male, over 29 degrees they become female.

6.) They have time in their life to slow down and see the scenery ~~~ The desert tortoise is probably the slowest of all tortoises. It can only move 2 feet each minute.

5.) They don’t have to worry about having enough money to pay for groceries or pay to have a roof over their head, they came with one built in~~~ Some turtles can live for more than a year without food.

4.) They never have to worry about their weight, or how many pounds they have to loose to be the “perfect size.” ~~~ Adult sea turtles can weigh from 150 – 1000 pounds! The leatherback turtle is the largest sea turtle at 6 and a half feet long and weighing up to 1,500 lb.

3.) It’s ok for them to bite stupid people, society rules suggest it’s not good manners for me to ~~~ Many snapping turtles have been known for biting for no reason at all and not letting go.

2.) They have good motherly instincts from the start ~~~ A female turtle laying eggs will dig several empty nests to throw off predators trying to eat the eggs.

1.) Even though they are going to go extinct at least they don’t know about it and don’t have to worry about all of the better and best things they should have been doing instead of just good things, or how many Monday nights they forgot to have FHE, or how many times they forgot to say prayers or read the scriptures, or how they utterly hate visiting teaching, or how they have no desire to have a calling or any and all past sins that might keep them out of heaven and away from their family … they have a stress free life if you ask me ~~~ All 7 types of sea turtle are “threatened” or “endangered.” But we don’t hear them whine about it…

What We've Been Up To...

It has been a while since I last posted.
Here's a recap of some of the things we've been up to lately.
~~~
We went to Mesquite for USU's spring break to get out of the two feet of snow that we had been "blessed"with. It was beautiful and warm... just what we needed.
The kids had a BLAST at the "Pink Kingdom's" swimming pool. We stayed at CasaBlanca Hotel. When we pulled up Daimen asked us if there was a Princess in there. Then he told us that KayBree was the Princess, he was the King, and this was his Pink Kingdom...
SO CUTE!!! My parents decided at the last minute that they were going to come down with us and the trip was better because of their decision. My kids love their Grandma and Grandpa. This is one of the times we went hiking. Daimen was kind enough to find us all "weapons"
(a.k.a sticks).
KayBree and Grandpa at the cafe for breakfast. They had the best fruit EVER!
We also went hunting for lizards, we found a million, unfortunately they were too fast....
Daimen was lizard hunting... Wow this picture was a while ago, but I thought I would post it...
Apparently a nail file or emery board is only used for filing off the skin on your forehead. All this time I had been using it completely wrong. Thank you Daimen for showing me the error of my ways... :)
Update on KayBree's reading progress... We are almost to a point where we can give her a Wii, she knows all of the sight words I printed out for her, and if she tries she can read really good. The problem is I cant help her read, I get too frustrated with her occasional lack of effort... Josh on the other hand does miracles with her. He is such a wonderful husband and father. I am so lucky to have him in my life!
(: Prison Sounds Pretty good Right Now :)
BEING IN PRISON ~vs~ BEING A HOMEMAKER
*In prison you get three square meals a day.
*At home, you cook three square meals a day and try to get your kids to eat it.
*In prison you get an hour each day in the yard to exercise and mingle.
*At home you get to clean the yard up so you can mow it so your kids can spread more toys all over it so that you can go out and clean it again because little Jr. can't sleep without his latest lego creation.
*In prison you get to watch TV, cable even.
*At home you get to listen to your children fight over the remote control and get treated to hours and hours of mindless cartoons thanks to cable.
*In prison you can read whatever you want and attend college for free.
*At home you get to read weekly readers starring Dick, Jane, and Spot and worry about how to send Jr. to college and still be able to eat for the next twenty years.
*In prison all your medical care is free.
*At home you have to pawn your mother's silver and fill out trillions of papers for insurance and hope the doctor will see you before you die.
*In prison, if you have visitors, all you do is go to a room,sit, talk and then say good-bye when you are ready or your time is up.
*At home you get to clean for days in advance and then cook and clean up after your guests and hope that they will one day leave.
*In prison you can spend your free time writing letters or just hangout in your own space all day.
*At home you get to clean your space and everyone else's space, too,and what the heck is free time again?
*In prison you get your own personal toilet.
*At home you have to physically hold the bathroom door shut in order to keep from having someone standing over you demanding to know how long till you're done so you can do something for them.
*In prison the prison laundry takes care of all your dirty clothes.
*At home you get to take care of them yourself, plus everybody else's, and get yelled at because somebody's favorite shirt isn't clean.
*In prison they take you everywhere you need to go.
*At home you take everybody else where they need to go.
*In prison the guards transport all your personal effects for you and make sure nothing is missing.
*At home you have to lug around everybody else's stuff in your purse and then wonder who went in it and took your last dollar.
