Summer Activities

Since this is my journal of sorts, I thought I'd write about a couple of activities we have done this past week. (Sorry - no pictures). I don't know what got into me, but one morning when I was headed to my trainer in Provo, I decided to make a day of it and take the kids to Seven Peaks water park. I quickly woke them up and made them hurry and get ready. Even though they would rather have slept in, they were happy about the outing. We tried to invite a few people with the kids, but only one could come. Carson's friend PJ is in town and was able to come with us. We spent the day there - and yes I got in the pool too! When that was over we headed back to Eagle Mountain to meet Ryan for the groundbreaking of the new skate park over in our subdivision.

Brady and Carson have been working on merit badges this summer. Carson has one left to complete. He went in to get his Eagle Project approved on Thursday, but they didn't approve it. So.......back to the drawing board. Tonight was a court of honor and Brady planned and conducted the meeting to pass off on his communications merit badge.

I made Ryan stay home from church today and rest. He has been sick for almost 2 weeks now. I am tired of not sleeping because he is not sleeping. After I came home from church today, he decided he'd had enough and I took him to the instacare in Orem. He saw the doctor, got loaded up on antibiotics for a nasty sinus infection and we headed to the pharmacy. They told him it would be a few days before he'd feel better. If I can get him to stay down maybe he will recover soon. He is very stubborn when it comes to missing work,etc. I told him he is grounded. :)

American Idol Concert July 15, 2008

For those who wanted to go but missed it, here are a few pictures from our evening at the concert!

American Idol Concert

We got tickets to the American Idol concert for July 15th. We had a lot of fun! Ryan had city council meeting and decided not to go with us. We took our friend Cree Amendola to the concert with us. She is going to try out for American Idol this summer when they come to Salt Lake. Go Cree!!!! The pictures with Brady covering his face are his version of little girls at the concert screaming and crying for David Arculeta! It was so loud during David Archuleta's set, you could barely hear him singing. All of the performers were really great. Some of the people that I didn't really like on the show, were actually good in person. The only low point of the evening for me was David cook singing my Lionel Richie's version of "Hello", and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". You just don't mess with that song! I hated it when he did it on the show and I still hated it at the concert. I know that I am in the minority, but that's my opinion!

Happiness is....................

For Nicole......the updated month of June 2008! Happy? She keeps me on my toes. Since then I have had a trip to Washington and a camping trip with my brother Tyler. Both occasions I forgot my camera! Don't fear through.........when my friends and family email some pictures from the occasions I will post them as well. But as for now.....I am caught up!

Happy Father's Day Dad!!!

Dad got Bryan Adam's new CD for father's day, but Kyle doctored it to look like Sanjaya's album. He also got Rock Band (father's day was a good excuse!) We love you Dad!

Youth Conference 2008 - Book of Mormon Quest

This years theme for youth conference was the Book of Mormon Quest. Held on June 11 - 13th, 2008. It was three days of re-enactments from the Book of Mormon, with lots of games, activities, and firesides by the stake presidency. It was held in Tremonton at another stakes property. We were asked to be Tribal leaders this year and were able to attend once again. We love working with the youth! We figured out that we have been to every youth conference since we have been in this stake for 9 years. I told Pres. Draper that now I should try to see what kind of record I can hold! Carson and Marisa were able to attend this year as well. It was Marisa's first youth conference and I think she had a great time. Carson enjoyed it as well. While we were gone, Kyle was working, and Brady stayed with my sister Kerri.

The Ryanites

Ryan & I were asked to be Tribal Leaders (Mom & Dad) to a family at our Stake's Youth Conference this year. We were the Ryanites and our family consisted of six kids from different wards in the stake. We had a really fun time and had a great group of kids! Our family is Ryan, Tani, Sarah, Jonah, Savannah, Mark, Darren, & Dennis

Games

We had to play a game where you have to cooperate and get your whole family across without touching the ground. You all have to be on the bricks at the same time. We liked this game and tried to see how few bricks we could use to get all of us across. You had to use one less brick for how many people you have in your group. We got it down to 5 bricks for our whole group.

Canoeing

Another activity was canoeing. I wish we had pictures of Marisa & Carson also, but they were in different families than we were so they went canoeing at a different time.

Building King Benjamin's Tower

For one of the activities each family had to build King Benjamin's tower. Since we attended the same youth conference four years ago, we knew how to put the tower up. Supplies were short and so we combined with another couple in our ward and their family to finish ours.
