Another intro

Here are the chickens...

We have 22 chickens total. We have many breeds, which are Americanas, Plymouth Rocks, Sex-links, Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpington, Black Astrolorps, and a few others we don't know.


My family wanted me to post there name, so here is goes...
Jenny, Henny, Gladiator, Maid Marian, Talon, Mercy, Justice, Liberty, Goldy Locks (Squeakers), Red, Bessy, Freedom, Bushrod, Sacajawea, Currently Unnamed, Elizabeth I, Edith, Rose, Adrine, Eleanor, I Didn't, and Polly.


We had a few more but a dog killed 6, one died from ?, two were roosters and we traded a few hens with them (you see, we have a friend that breeds so she traded us the roosters for hens and a few of our hens went with them).

There are many funny stories we have of them but that's for another time.

Introducing... our goats!

I just wanted to spotlight our goats. There are three total (soon to be four, as we are getting a buck very soon). They are Nubian milking goats and we have had them about 6 months. Their names are Susan, Sophie and Padme (Susan and Sophie are sisters).
Padme is about a year and a half. She is black roan with white markings. She is a rather fat goat and the queen of them all.
Susan is two and a half. She is brown with white spots and is the skinniest of the bunch but is very sweet.
Sophie is around three and a half and is a fawn color. She is a very tall goat and mean. She headbutts the little guys.
We get about 2 gallons of milk from them a day. We milk them morning and night.

We actually had four other goats, but that's another story...

A Fabulous Weekend!

This weekend our family had the opportunity to visit some dear friends, the Bergesons. We had a wonderful weekend. We visited, visited, visited, watched movies, played games, ate very well, stayed up too late every night, and sat by the fire (my favorite thing). We came home happy, full of fabulous memories, and refreshed. We can't wait until we can go again or until they come to visit us (hint, hint Mindy).When we came home Wesley gathered the eggs and we had 19 eggs out of our 22 chickens. Among the 19 eggs there was a ginormous egg.Wesley took pictures of it as proof. This actually means that the chicken who laid it is low on calcium, it will probably have a double yoke in it because the chicken did not have enough calcium to make enough shell for two eggs. We will take care of that this morning. We love our chickens and we love getting lots of eggs.This weekend we were able to breeze (hee, hee, for those who know the story) through the lights at temple square. They are always so beautiful. It is a great way to get into the Christmas Spirit.I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Christmas Season.

The blog begins!

We have begun! Blogging is something that I have wanted to do for a long time but have not taken the time to begin. My dear wonderful, fabulous friend (Mindy) has taken the time this weekend to help me and my family to get everything set up. It has been so fun!!!
