Who's kid is that?!

Saturday mornings have been far from "sleeping in" and relaxing the last 2 months.

See, we have had to get up and watch Kenzie play some basketball.

Not what I really wanted to do on my Saturdays, but when "mom duties" are called upon me, I give up on my cozy bed and have basketball become a priority in the early hours of my Saturdays.

Mackenzie is having fun playing city league basketball this year, and since the first game in January, this team has come a long way.

(the first game was more of a comedy to watch, but the girls were having fun trying to play basketball...by the looks of this game, it was going to be a LONG season.)

Since that very first game, the girls have learned to work together, pass the ball, defend, do plays, and have gained confidence.

Mackenzie has learned to allowed her height to work for her.

She has learned to make her way to the basket and get rebound after rebound. Today, Opa and Oma were able to come down and watch Kenzie play some bball.
She was proud to have them there to watch her.

With every basket that she made, she would then look up to the bleachers and make sure that we were watching her.

When she heard our cheers, a giant smile came on her face.

Then she was ready to play some more bball.

(this happened each time that she made her 5 baskets)

After the game, Opa, Oma, and the 6 of us went to IHOP for breakfast to celebrate the awesome game.

I must say, I have had fun watching Kenzie play, even if it has been on my Saturdays.
I am glad that she is enjoying it and Kenzie even talks about playing again next year and how she wants to play in High School.

3rd wheel?

How does the saying go?

"Two's a Company BUT Three's a Crowd."

No one likes to be the 3rd wheel;

To be the "third wheel" is to be the extra, unnecessary person in a group of three people.

Well, this morning I will totally claim that I was the "3rd wheel" on a doughnut date for TWO and I wouldn't have done it any differently!

Today was the 2nd graders doughnut date over at the school and normally one parent is asked to go and read 30 minutes with their kiddo.

BUT, Delanie didn't want to hurt either of Dan's or my feelings, so she asked if both of us could go with her.

So, I know that being the 3rd wheel can be a drag normally, BUT this time I am proud to say that "two's a bore, but three's perfectly awesome!" -C. Springer.

Today is February 14th,

which means it is Valentine's day.

Valentine's Day = LOVE.

And what does Cassie LOVE more than anything...

* Dance.

* "X-Tina"

(dance teacher Christina)

* Candy.

* Her Friends.

* Fun and Games.

Today at dance, with it being valentine's day, they got to have a day that was a bit different then "normal" dance.

The girls got to do a little extra something; things that all little girls at the age of 5 LOVE to do:

*They danced.

*They shared valentines.

*They got Candy.

*They got to spend time with their friends and "X-Tina"

*They played games.

*THEY HAD FUN!

Cassie was in totally bliss.

Cassie was so excited to share with her brother what fun treats she had got from her friends as Carson sat waiting for her in the car.

These four girls are so darling together.

Not only are they neighbors and school/church buddies, they are good friends.
These girls couldn't be more girlie.

They get so excited when they see each other out and about.
They love to play with each other, no matter where they might be.

So, being able to be all together in dance is something I know Cassie looks forward to each week.

I hear her talk about "her friends" all week long and each day, asks when she can go to dance.

So, today, Cassie truly danced her little heart out and enjoyed every minute of it.

About me...

Tonight, I found out something about me that could get me into trouble one of these days...

I am a LOUD competitor.

BUT, I also found out that my BARK is BIGGER than my BITE.

(Which means I talk the talk, but really I suck.)

Tonight, as a group of couples, we headed out to play LASER TAG.

WE HAD A BLAST!

WE DOMINATED the game(s)!

(I know what you are thinking...and no, it wasn't us, picking on a bunch of little kids, there was physio adults that were out to get our "RED" team.)

Anyways, back to what I found out about myself...

I sometimes have turrets and spew out "threats" before thinking on what I am saying.

(By the way...Which sometimes can not be good.)

I wasn't the only one that was winding up the "other" teams, but I did have my fair share of "threats" and "intimidations." aka "STRATEGY".

The 10 of us were HATED by the others who played against us.

The "other" teams should have been out to get everyone, BUT were ALL gaining up on us; the "RED" team AND we STILL DOMINATED!

Anyways, thanks to my other teammates that is, because I came in the 6-10th place for our team...hence why my BARK is BIGGER than my BITE. ;)

WE HAD A BLAST and are ALREADY planning on when we can go back to play/"WIN" again.

So, IF you feel daring enough to play the "RED" team, BRING IT, but watch out, "WE" are one TOUGH team who LOVES to use STRATEGY!

;) (Oh, there I go again... talking smack.) ;)

The "Guys" Turn.

Valentine's day is here again,

and if you remember right, last year's valentine's day was planned by Eliza and myself, (couples pedi and dinner at The Cheesecake Factory) so THIS year, it was all up to the guys.

Curtis and Dan have been planning and preparing for the last week to make sure all the details were ready for Friday night.

We (Liza and I) got our invites and we were told to dress formal...our minds from that moment were turning; trying to figure out what those two were planning.

It also stated on the invitation to be ready at 5:30 pm. and to bring a change of clothes for later.

Who knows what those two guys are capable when it comes to planning...Liza witnessed one night when the two were "planning" over at their place, she said that the two of the guys were "giggling like school girls."

So, Friday night finally came and I was going crazy not knowing what we were doing.

I was even getting myself worked up with anxiety.

(I LOVE giving surprises, but I hate to be the one who gets them...I can't take the pressure.)

The door bell rings and there was Dan waiting for me, dressed in his suit; which he even had dried cleaned for this special occasion.

He insists that we take a few pictures before we head over to pick up Curtis and Eliza.
While Kenzie was taking our picture, she notices that there was a "different" car in our driveway, It was Oma's white Jag.

We drive up north to Salt Lake; I am still trying to figure out what we are doing.

We pull into Dan's parent's house (which they were out of town for the weekend)

and I am confused.

Rose petals were along the brick walk way which lead to the home. We walk in and the rose petals didn't stop outside, they continued even into the house.

The guys had got us ladies flowers, giant cards, and something special in those darling black and white boxes.

(You will have to find out what is in those boxes in a later post. I promise it won't be that long of wait.)

A table was set for four.
The good china was in the kitchen ready to be eaten upon.
Music was playing.

The veggies were cooking.

A fresh salad was prepared.

The best cut of meat was being cut into the shape of hearts.

Nothing says LOVE like when it is RAW.

No details were left undone with these guys. They thought of everything.

The stakes were cooking on the B-B-Q
All while the guys were preparing this meal, Liza and I got to put our feet up and RELAX.

Dinner was served to us ladies.

We toasted to good friends, good food, good love, good times, and even good ice.

(Nothing says "fancy" like fine crystal and diet Mt. Dew.)

We enjoyed our "home cooked" meal from our men.

*No kids.

*No Complaining.

*No Messes.
It was good.

NO...

...It was perfect!

AND if that wasn't enough...

The two guys did ALL of the clean up all by themselves!

AND since it was fine china, it had to be washed by hand.

Eliza and I found ourselves sitting/laying on the couch trying to deal with our over stuffed bellies.

Why did we need the change of clothes?

What did we do after???

NOTHING!!!

and it was GREAT!

See, "we" are always going out with the four of us; running around town, eating here and there. Going to this place and that, so the guys wanted "us" to just sit down and relax.

Relaxing is something that is hard for me to do, so when the guys told us to pick a movie to watch, I found that hard to believe.

BUT it was true.

We got into our "cozies" and we watched "Sleepless in Seattle."

YES, it is true, the guys let us watch a romantic comedy without any complaining.

It was a perfect valentine's evening.

A special thanks to the men for making sure us ladies felt special and loved. You thought of everything.
I can guarantee that Liza and I won't be making you guys dinner NEXT valentine's day, but it will be just as awesome as if we did...this I can promise you two!

All good things come to an end.

Sad day in JazzLand.

After 23 long and emotional years, mid season of the 2010-2011 basketball season, Jerry Sloan says Good Bye, finished, So Long, Farewell, on being the head coach to the Utah Jazz.

It will be weird to not see Jerry along the side lines of the games yelling and pacing back and forth, frustrated in the Jazz.

We will see what the future holds for Ty Corbin who now is the head coach for the Jazz.

Will Ty be able to bring back the Utah Jazz and start winning games?

As a fan, I don't care who is the coach, I just want to see good games with awesome winning streaks.

Is that too much to ask for athletes that gets paid W-A-Y too much?

Bring on the players that love the game!

Valentine's Sugar Highs.

Let the Candy High of Valentine's Day start....NOW.
Today C&C had their valentine's party at school.

The excitement was a buzzin' all around our home days before today.

Addressing the cards, picking who gets which one; kids take that part in Valentines so seriously. It was funny to watch Carson and Cassie pick out who got what card.

They both wanted to give Mrs. Hunsaker something extra special. They love her so much.

Stories, Crafts, sharing valentines, and sugar cookies makes the perfect way to celebrate young love.
I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to snap a few photos at home after the party.
AND I know that both Carson and Cassie love me, for they shared 2 mini kit kats and a mini reese's peanut butter cup with me.
Now that is love of a 5 year.

I guess even moms are okay to have a sugar high ever once in awhile.

Well, the group is growing, so this year Bunco was out and we played the Newly Wed Game.

(I am not held accountable for the aftermath of this activity...I just asked the questions.)

My Best Ideas come at Night.

...And tonight was one of those nights where one of those brilliant ideas hit me.

(Or as Dan would could them, "crazy" ideas, because those ideas tend to involve him.)
Well, I can't let Dan down and all of his expectations of my ideas, so YES, this idea was no different than the others.

So, what was my mind coming up with at 9pm???

I wanted to redo my cupboards!

I wanted to paint them!

Dan put the "NO" in that idea real quick.

"Why don't you just add Hardwear?" was Dan's question.

Okay...
It didn't take long for another idea...
I want to glaze my cupboards AND add hardwear.

I got the Okay with that idea, so off to Home Depot we went to start another midnight project.
(We had to get them done soon, we are hosting a couples valentine's party on Friday night,

so No Pressure Dan. I LOVE you Honey!)

Well, Dan didn't let me down. The cupboards look good.

(I wanted them to be a bit more "WOW!" or noticeable, but I will take what I can get, and in all honesty, the cupboards do look good.)

So, in all, the project was easy to do and Dan and I make a pretty good pair.
I keep coming up with the home improvement projects and Dan does a great job to humor me and do the projects.

Who knows what other midnight brilliant ideas I may come up with in the future, but I know Dan may not want me to "think" so much, I can't promise anything. ;)
