Ryleigh's name has been changed....it was Ryleigh Gyll, now it's Ryleigh Gyll Baoxin. Her Chinese name is Xin Hong Bao....so we finally came up with something that we love for her third name, and also honoring her Chinese name.....we are so happy.
Also, our agency has recieved our approval to travel and hopefully by the end of the week we will have our appointment set up for the US Consulate in Guangzhou. Our agency is requesting the week of February 27th, so that means that we may be travelling on the 15th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pronunciation: BaoXin is pronounced Bow (as in bow wow) Shin so BowShin
Another update: The reason we added her Chinese name was because the translation originally didn't sound like something very nice or important, but after finding out her abandonment information and asking for further translation and explanation, it made a LOT of sense to use it. I think I've posted that we aren't going to talk about the abandonment on our blog, so I'm not going to go into further detail about it.....(and xin is for her city that she is in Xinyi)

Ryleigh's New Room
Ryleigh's room is just down the hall from us. The quilt above her bed was originally part of her 100 Good Wishes Quilt, and was going to be a crib quilt, but we ended up using the fabric that I made the sashing with as the common "flower" theme. I decided that it would be a cute wall hanging above her crib.
Yes, Ryleigh still has a train table, won't she LOVE that???
The green frame above her dresser (with three openings) will have her Chinese name in it. My friend Julie is going to paint the characters for me!

Austin's New Room
We live in a two story house. Upstairs, my mom lives, with two spare rooms (mine and my sisters as children). Austin's room is currently downstairs near our room. When Ryleigh comes, we had decided that Austin would move upstairs, into a "big boy" room and we have spent months collecting, sewing, and preparing the new "Construction Zone" room. Austin moved up two nights ago and LOVES it!
We kept it as a suprise from him until it was all complete.
His first words were "THIS IS GREAT!!!"

220,000 Miles....
Mark and I charge everything to our American Airlines charge cards. We pay it back each month....we have been saving forever, and with some trips to see our friends in Virginia and a trip (double posted) to England for our honeymoon, we have enough to fly Business Class (meaning: seats that lay down for sleeping) to Hong Kong.....
Our flights are booked (to change dates later when we have firm plans)..and one piece of luggage has been taken out.....
Tomorrow my friend, Rhonda gets her referral and I can NOT WAIT to see Lizzie's picture and here where she's at...I think that she is in Jiangxi, Rhonda things Hubei....we shall see tomorrow (probably before 9am).

Birth Mothers...sadness and gladness...
Yesterday we received information on Ryleigh and her finding.
I'm not planning on sharing that information here, BUT, I thought that I would post about how sad I am for her birth mother. Knowing you are pregnant, and feeling that life, and hoping for something that isn't meant to be must be so sad. Can you even imagine for a second, thinking that you are getting the greatest gift, but feeling the pressure from your own family, society and Government that if it's not the "right" gift, that you must not keep it......
A friend said to me....imagine what you are giving this little girl. You are not only going to be giving her a wonderful home, and family, you are giving her the choice to have as many children as she wants, you are giving her the choice to keep her own daughter, like her birth mother wasn't able to do.
I think that that statement is one of the most profound things that I have heard about us adopting Ryleigh. Everyone says how lucky she is to be adopted by us, but I think that she is lucky because she will be able to choose who she mothers when she is older.
And of course, we are the luckiest of all to add little Xin Hong Bao into our family....forever!!!!

I had just had my right knee replaced with a wonderful new fangled knee replacement technique in San Francisco. This was a HIGH time in my life because for the first time in 15 years I was able to walk without pain and felt that there was a future for me!

One year ago today Mark was having his physical for the paperchase, Austin was having his physical, and we received our police clearances. We were knee deep in the paperchase and elated to be working on it!

Happy 1st Birthday, Ryleigh!

waiting for the Referral Call video, right??????
Well, we've back from our vacation to Disneyland. It was WONDERFUL! More on that later, on a different post....maybe later today!
Here's two short minutes of the referral call. I think it's a great angle for me, no double chin in sight!!! Our noses do look larger then real (I think)..... I love my mom in her nightgown swishing around on the side.... I also didn't realize how much I play with my hair, or wipe my nose.....ENJOY

New Pictures of Ryleigh
Here are the new pictures of Ryleigh that we received today after my friend Julie and I left work and drove around Carmel looking for the Fed Ex guy. We had JUST given up and then there he was like a mirage in the desert!
I think everyone will agree that the pictures are great and Ryleigh doesn't look quite so scared/sad.

Referral Update or Dumb Hurtful Lazies!
OK, Here's the update.....everyone on the April board had given up, no smiles today.
I needed to call CCAI to find out about having our referral information shipped to our hotel because we are leaving for vacation in Disneyland on Sunday....anyways, I got a wonderful voicemail (actually had to call back twice to make sure that what I heard was right) and the package is there, in CCAI's hands and they are verifying and translating the referrals right now.
We should receive THE CALL tomorrow morning between 9 and 10 am our time!
YAHOO!!!!
