we're a happy family. mostly because this guy makes us all pretty happy. he reads books, wears silly hats, lets the boys "kung fu panda" him, plays fast music on the guitar so they can have dance parties, and even does dishes.

so we naturally want to wish him a happy happy birthday! miles was really excited about saying "happy birsday to you" all morning to his dad and eli even woke up extra early to give him breakfast in bed.

my valentine

i am not one who pines for diamonds and roses on valentine's day, though i never say no to chocolate. jamey doesn't give me those things, he does things like this

eli says...

"mom can i please please please just have some more food. i'm still hungry."

5 bowls of cereal, a clementine, and banana later:

"mom can we please please please just watch another movie. i'm still watchy."

the age of innocence

there are a wide array of ridiculous situations you find yourself in as a parent. today jamey called to me from the bathroom (where he was preparing a bath for the boys) to inform me that miles had just combed his dad's hair with a tampon.

then after dinner we were playing cards with eli because that's what we do when miles is asleep. he was seriously loopy, he kept laughing so hard his face was red and he couldn't breathe. it was quite the game of go fish. he had a half eaten banana on his plate and amidst all the giggles said, "you know what this looks like?" he tried 4 times to answer his on question and since he's been into potty humor lately i was a little concerned. then he finally got out, "an apple" followed by another uncontrollable fit of laughter.
