The Story

Ultimate Frisbee = Ultimate Fun???

Hmmm... Considering that this blog is about ultimate frisbee, you may ask, "Where is the frisbee?"

After the rapid release from the unseeing hand of Steven, the frisbee made a quick and short flight straight to it's predetermined target, Quinn's left eye. As Quinn drops to the ground the frisbee rolls away to escape. Luckily Quinn's protective lenses (generally used for improving sight) saved his eye from a direct hit and his upper and lower eyelid took the brunt of the blow from his glasses.

Everyone rushed to his side to see if he was ok. The frisbee was then picked up and held in custody and we attended to the victim. Quinn realized he had been hit and needed a moment to collect himself and assess the damage. The swelling and bright colors showed up immediately, but luckily he was not bleeding very much, or we may have had more of a mess to clean up (Quinn is not a blood and gore kind of guy). We were lucky to have our Boy Scout Darrin there, who quickly rushed to his vehicle and brought back a bag of ice to place on the injury.

Steven apologized many times for allowing the frisbee to use him as the force behind the attack. Quinn assured him that he was ok and that he knew that it was not on purpose.

Once he was ready Aubrey and Heidi helped him walk to the car where he was secured for his ride to the Instacare. Luke and Heidi drove the injured Quinn to the Instacare. As they were travelling to the doctor, Quinn was more concerned about Steven, his son, than himself and wanted to make sure that he didn't feel too bad about the incident. This love that Quinn was showing toward his son, even while in a lot of pain, may have been the original reason for the frisbee (considering his cold and hardened state) to attack in the first place.

Elizabeth and Steven joined the injured party. After a bit of a wait the attending nurse approached. She then recommended going to the Emergency Room where they would be more able to assess the situation.

Elizabeth and Quinn then went on to the ER. Quinn was checked into the hospital and the man doing it was quite jealous that Quinn was able to play frisbee in the first place, he was also laughing because he couldn't figure out how to describe the story to sign him in. Quinn's vitals were checked. Then after waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, and waiting some more Quinn's eye was thoroughly checked over by the doctor. His vitals were checked again. Then they waited some more. He even had a CAT scan (and no, the cats don't lick, they only look) and a couple other tests. Then they waited some more... The doctors were concerned about the bone under the eye because it can be brittle. Fortunately everything looked fine. The doctor was grateful we had our Boy Scout Darrin with his ice because that helped a lot with the swelling. The doctor recommended seeing the Opthamologist tomorrow. Quinn was given a tetanus shot, told to take it easy, don't bump the eye, and NO MORE frisbee (for a while), otherwise everything looks ok and should heal on its own.

The frisbee was convicted and placed in solitary confinement (the trunk of a car) until another day in the distant future. Hopefully he will repent with this time to himself and be ready for a safe game next time...

Greats

We had a good visit with the grandparents and the great-grandparents this past weekend.

Sorry some of the photos are similar, I just can't choose between them. :)

Bailee was getting a kick out of Daisy the dog. She would smile whenever Daisy walked by.
Happy Mother's Day!
