Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter this year!

Yesterday was our community Easter Egg Hunt, and the kids got lots of candy and treats there.

Later that day we colored eggs, watched a movie, and the kids set out their baskets.

Grandma Rosie helped too!

Tyler and I stayed up late getting all the rest of the stuff ready. It is so much fun to have kids this age. They were both so excited and we had a blast filling and hiding eggs and watching the kids find them this morning. We filled eggs with candy and nickels and they LOVED that there was money in the eggs. They got some fun things in their baskets and looked so cute in their new Sunday clothes. It was raining before church so we took some pictures inside, and then some more after church- but the sun was too bright and they couldn't keep his eyes opened. We mostly got squinty eyed ones but there were a few cute ones!

Kite Festival

Last weekend we went to the Kite Festival. Nathan was so looking forward to it. He read every day, and got way more then the required amount of points. He got to choose between a book and a kite as his prize and was all set to get a book, until he saw all the kites there were to choose from. And even though he already had 2 of his own he got another (HUGE) one. Tyler and I slathered the kids with SPF 50 but forgot to cover ourselves really well, so we got toasted  and have awesome farmer's tans now, but we still had so much fun.

The kids did really well at keeping their kites up after we helped them get started. I took lots of video but it was hard to take pictures while we were all running around.

They had a fire truck, booths, and all sorts of bouncy things there so after we were done flying kites we took the kids to do some of those. The kids got to climb all over in a real fire truck.

Ava loved the princess bouncy house and used almost all her tickets there. Nathan was more adventurous and decided to go down the huge slides, like this 30 ft one. Tyler got to go too so he could help Ava.... check out her face in his one- I love how Nathan was holding her so she wouldn't be scared:

It was a great weekend and we are so proud of Nathan for being such a great reader! We love you!!!!

We have had some big things happening lately!

Ava is POTTY TRAINED alllllll the way!!!! When I started back in February I took her every hour for the first two days, then the third day I spaced it out more and even braved it and took her on errands, and by the fourth day she was telling me when she needed to go. She did really well and within a week was dry through the night and not having any wet accidents. We struggled with #2 for a LONG time....she would wait until we put her in a pull-up at night and then go. So we would keep her in undies at night (since she was staying dry at night anyway) and then she would just hold it in forever, but when she had to go would sometimes tell us and make it. She was so scared to go and no amount of treats or bribing would ease her fears. We ended up having to get her on some baby laxative stuff and then she realized it didn't hurt and hasn't had a problem since! We are so proud of her and are looking forward to using the diaper money toward dance classes! 

In other exciting news....Nathan learned to tie his shoes all by himself this week! We have been trying to get him to do it for awhile and he kept getting frustrated....then at the beginning of the week he got all dressed then said, "Look, I tied my shoes!" And they looked really good! 

My babies are getting so big!

I just couldn't NOT post this picture from last week.  Aren't they so cute??  Ava is such a cheese ball. Last week the weather was so perfect that I put together a little picnic for me and the kids after school in our backyard. 

This was the day before Nathan got sicker then he has ever been in his life. I spent all Conference Weekend in the bathroom with the poor guy~ 48 hours of throwing up, followed by two more days of other tummy troubles, calls to the Dr., lots of anti nausea meds, losing 4+ pounds, almost needing an IV because of dehydration, and he is finally getting his energy back....it was quite a scare. I was so worried, and I am so glad he didn't end up having to go to the E.R. The doctor gave us a time to take him if he hadn't stopped throwing up and luckily right about that time he was able to start keeping little bits of Pedialyte down. We are still not sure what he had because we all had the same foods to eat, and no one else in the family has caught any type of bug. I sure hope it stays that way! We are just so glad he is better.

ps Today it snowed ALL DAY LONG...so much for the nice weather!

A Friend for My Camera

Since I will most likely still be carryying my camera in my purse instead of my pocket I decided I wanted a little cover for it.  My brother uses his old Ipod sock thing for his camera, and so I looked online for one of those. After looking at them a little closer I decided to make my own. I have been saving old cute socks (I saw a tutorial for making Barbie dresses out of them...) so I used one from my stash.

I flipped the sock inside out and serged it just above the heel. If you don't have a Serger you can just cut it and then sew it across while it is inside out.

Then I put it right side out and marked it with my white sewing pencil as shown, and pinned it. Each little line is about an inch(you can adjust it depending on the width of your camera).

I sewed it with an Elastic Stitch along the white lines (parallel to the red ones above).

The stitches will make it so if I grab the camera by the strap it won't just pull out of the sock. And now I have a perfect little bag for my camera that didn't cost me a thing!
