I got released from the Primary Presidency...I cried...alot. I would much rather be in Primary any Sunday, sorry but our Relief Society is kind of old. Tyler says I will be in primary again someday but being in there while your own kids are little is the best. They must know I really miss it because last week I was the substitute pianist, and next week I am subbing for the chorister.
We went out shooting on what happened to be the worst possible day ever. It was SO cold. We had three new toys to try out. It was kind of a waste of time because we couldn't concentrate on our targets because we were shivering so bad. The kids shot the .22 and loved it. Nathan hit his milk jug on the first shot and was so excited. I shot my first 12 gauge and hit my target too. We were both 25 yards or so away. It was awesome. Ava wanted to shoot Grandpa's shotgun, but I didn't want her to break her shoulder.
*I know some people think we are crazy for taking our kids shooting and letting them handle guns but they are learning the rules and I think when kids are educated about "scary" things they are less likely to do something stupid. If you know me well at all, then you will know that I am a very cautious parent. I like to be able to see/ hear the kids when they are playing. Even if the kids are just playing in the yard I always want to be able to see them. (We are on a desert acre and rattlesnakes freak me out). I also grew up in a big city and am wary of other people, almost getting kidnapped will do that to you. You just never know. Anyway every time we get the guns out we go over the rules. I know you can never be too careful. I grew up going shooting all the time. So to me teaching them about it is a smart thing to do. I want them to know what to do if their friends ever get a gun out while having a play date. And avoiding the subject of guns will not help them out. Sorry to go off on a tangent. I know it is a very sensitive subject at this time, but that is how I feel. Also if our kids temperaments were different then we would wait to introduce them. But both have always been very careful/calm kids*
Ava decorated her tithing a few weeks ago. The counselor in the bishopric pulled me aside to tell me that they saved her envelope and taped it up. He loved it and said he wished everyone would do the same. I told Ava what he said and last Sunday she said to Nathan,after he sealed his tithing envelope, "Nathan, you need to color on it. They said everyone should color on their envelopes," such a funny girl.
Last week our home teachers had us over. Can I just tell you we have the best home teacher ever. I was in the same ward with him when I was a little girl. He and his cute wife have known my grandparents and parents FOREVER. They don't have grandkids and just love ours. His wife comes with him often when he comes to visit. We went to their house this time so he could show us some stuff. He used to be a pretty amazing boxer and can still hit the bag better then the teenage scouts! He is so cool. He gave us all a little boxing lesson. This is the first time in 9 years that we have ever had a home teacher, so we love him even more. (We always had ones assigned to us but no one ever came to visit)
In February we got a new nephew! We got sick again right before he was born. I had super bad allergies and the kids developed another cough so we didn't get to see him until last weekend! I wanted to make sure all the sniffles and coughs were gone just to be safe. He is soooo cute and snuggly. Nathan wants a little brother so bad. Ava says no more babies though. She likes babies, just doesn't want a new in our own home, haha It was so fun holding a newborn.
