DIF aka Boot Camp!

Boot Camp #7 in the history books. This time my focus was to decrease my body fat percentage. I was getting to the point that my body couldn't lose anymore inches with what I was doing. I lost 6 inches, 1 pound and 3% body fat. I asked on day #1 what a good number of percentage loss would be and I was told 1-2%. So there you go! Yeah! It wasn't fun though - I had only 17 g of carbs from the bread group! The rest of my carbs came from fruits and vegies. I was eating tons of protein. I was not allowed to go to spinning. My off boot camp day workouts needed to be weight lifting. I get a big high when I see calories burned on my heart rate monitor. Not many calories are burned when you weight lift. I know I know - you are developing more muscle that in turn burns more calories, but I want to see the number on my watch! I was faithful to my menu plan and the results paid off. Now I just have to keep it up, but first I am having some bread, nachos and Cafe Rio!

School Talent Show

Last day of school talent show! Cole played the Charlie Brown theme song. He did a great job. 

 

End of school year gifts

End of year pop and soda for the teachers and Have a Kool Summer with Koolaid and straws for Molly's friends. Cole did not want to give any end of year gifts to his friends - I guess 6th graders are too cool for that! Once again - thanks for the ideas on pinterest.

Oh ya, mom - today is ....

Driving carpool to school today, I see a girl in Cole's class all dressed up. I said, "I wonder why Kendra is so dressed up?" Cole says, "Oh....... ya........ today is .......... 6th grade advancement." "Oh my gosh, Cole! Did you want your mom to come? Are you supposed to look nice? Because I don't think the t-shirt and basketball shorts is going to cut it." We went back home and he changed. Grandma was in town for other family events so she got to come too.

 It was Grandma's idea to check Cole out of school and take him to lunch. A couple of his friends were able to come too.

We went to Boise, ID for Maddi's graduation from Eagle High School and then went to Davis' graduation at West Jordan High School. Both are fabulous students! Way to go my cute niece and nephew! Don't they both look so awesome with the money leis that I made them? I got the idea from www.michellelunt.com just search for money lei and she has instructions.

Hooray to Cole!

Cole has been a diligent scout! He earned his First Class rank in February and was just awarded it tonight. In 2 weeks he will have his Star. He already has 9 merit badges and 4 in progress. He loves it! He likes it even more now that he has a troop of his friends to go with since the troop in our area has 1 scout - Cole!

Long Lost Cousin

This last week my cousin was in town at Utah Fitness Retreat - she says "fat camp". She doesn't look like she needs to be at fat camp, does she? Tara just wanted to learn more about fitness and nutrition - and her mom in law was paying! I haven't seen Tara for about 12 years and before that I saw her when she was a baby. We could totally be BFFs! It was great to visit with her and I even went to Flat Iron and joined her workout for a bit. She worked hard and got great results. We can't let it go so long without keeping in touch!

U12 Season is complete. Cole had a great team. I made cute plates for the soccer coaches that were a big hit. I think the bigger hit was the cookies I made for the team BBQ. Once again, Pinterest saved the day. Chocolate & Peanut Butter Chip Pretzel Cookies Recipe. So super yummy!

Same Name Without the Fame

Click on the link above - KSL did a news story on everyday people with famous names. I thought it would be great marketing for my dental office, but they cut out that entire part of the interview. The thumbnail with my picture was aired on Monday and the thumbnail with the news desk aired on Tuesday. It was still fun!

Makenna's bridal shower

I made these cute little drink jars for Makenna's bridal shower. The original idea I saw on Pinterest. Modified it a little. Found someone that drinks Starbucks coffee drinks daily. She saved her bottles for me. I spent more time getting the label off than it took putting a picture on. Turned our so super cute!

Union Bobcat Scholar

Congrats to Marshall for getting Union Bobcat Scholar. His middle school provides a mock program for the Sterling Scholar he would try to get as a senior. Marshall had a hard time deciding what subject he wanted to apply, write an essay and be interviewed for. His considerations were math, English, French, and computer technology. He chose the one that none of his friends were doing because he didn't want to beat them out.

Ms. Mary Peterson awarded Marshall his Bobcat Scholar Award. She always says she wants to be like Marshall when she grows up.

BYU Foreign Language Festival

Marshall competed in French at the Foreign Language Festival at BYU. He came home with 2 grand prize ribbons. One for a poem he memorized and recited and the other for his personal interview. Great job Marshall!

Molly had a Justin Bieber Birthday Bash for her party. I have been trying to figure out how to burn a disc of video and photos for her friends, but am not very successful. They are going to have to come here to view their videos! It was a very fun party! Mini wedding cakes for the "future Mrs. Biebers" JB necklaces and singing Name that Tune.

You know you are old when . . .

I just heard on the news that the Oxford Dictionary is removing "cassette tape" from the dictionary. What? How will future generations even know what we used to have in the "olden days" for music? I remember sitting by the radio with my cassette recorder ready to push "play and record" when my favorite song came on. Then when the DJ would speak over the music - grrrrr! Have to wait until the next time the song would be on. Like on the Top 40 countdown.  :) Ahhhh memories!

Cousins Visit

Chris, Abby, Logan and Grandma Janis came to visit. Cole had a soccer tournament that we spent a ton of time at but we did take a day and go to Lagoon. Cary also invited us to go to the most awesome reptile show at the Sheilds house. I think that was the highlight!

Real Soccer Player

Nat Borchers from Real Salt Lake Soccer team came to Cole's soccer practice. The boys brought a ball and their Real shirt for him to sign. I wasn't sure the boys would want to go meet Nat, but they responded that I was crazy to think they would miss the chance!

Cary always take the kids with a friend to swim at the Sheilds house. They are the ones with the gigantic swing in their yard. Molly took Taylor, Cole - Seth, and Marshall - McCoy.

Pioneer Trek

Dana and I were asked to be a ma and pa for a Pioneer Trek. Marshall experienced trek also with a different family. We went to Martin's Cove, Wyoming. The actual place where the pioneers experienced so much tragedy. We rode school buses 8 hours to our destination. I had many expectations for what I would experience doing trek. I was very stressed preparing to have 6-8 teenagers that I needed to help them "experience" a taste of what the pioneers went through. Some disappointments of my experiences but wonderful memories of trek - of which can't be expressed to the fullest on my blog.

Boise Visit

 Marshall, Maclain, Davis and Madison loved BYS. They got to stay 2 nights at Boise State University in the dorms. Their days were filled with classes and socializing. On the last day there was a devotional and Maddi and Davis played prelude for all the students to arrive. They were chosen from their audition tapes they sent in for the talent show. Great memories. Marshall was sent with a camera to take pictures, but all I got was a picture of his dorm room and random pics from the last day. He figured he better take some pics so I wouldn't get mad.

Floating the River

Every year Cary and Zach try to get me to run the freezing cold river from Wheeler Farm to Murray Park. This year the water is so high! I have never done it because I am not that stupid! This year they were able to talk Marshall and his friends into going. I am surprised no one drowned.

Girls like Girly Things

I wanted to do something fun for Molly and her cute friend Taylor. I took them to the nail salon at Wal-Mart. So cheap to get a mini-pedicure and manicure. They were in HEAVEN!!
