You know you are old when . . .

I just heard on the news that the Oxford Dictionary is removing "cassette tape" from the dictionary. What? How will future generations even know what we used to have in the "olden days" for music? I remember sitting by the radio with my cassette recorder ready to push "play and record" when my favorite song came on. Then when the DJ would speak over the music - grrrrr! Have to wait until the next time the song would be on. Like on the Top 40 countdown.  :) Ahhhh memories!

What are they thinking?

What? You want me to be the Primary President? Oh my! Please help the primary kids to survive my leadership!

Cousins Visit

Chris, Abby, Logan and Grandma Janis came to visit. Cole had a soccer tournament that we spent a ton of time at but we did take a day and go to Lagoon. Cary also invited us to go to the most awesome reptile show at the Sheilds house. I think that was the highlight!

Real Soccer Player

Nat Borchers from Real Salt Lake Soccer team came to Cole's soccer practice. The boys brought a ball and their Real shirt for him to sign. I wasn't sure the boys would want to go meet Nat, but they responded that I was crazy to think they would miss the chance!

Swimming at the Sheilds

Cary always take the kids with a friend to swim at the Sheilds house. They are the ones with the gigantic swing in their yard. Molly took Taylor, Cole - Seth, and Marshall - McCoy.

Soccer has Begun

Pioneer Trek

Dana and I were asked to be a ma and pa for a Pioneer Trek. Marshall experienced trek also with a different family. We went to Martin's Cove, Wyoming. The actual place where the pioneers experienced so much tragedy. We rode school buses 8 hours to our destination. I had many expectations for what I would experience doing trek. I was very stressed preparing to have 6-8 teenagers that I needed to help them "experience" a taste of what the pioneers went through. Some disappointments of my experiences but wonderful memories of trek - of which can't be expressed to the fullest on my blog.

Boise Visit

 Marshall, Maclain, Davis and Madison loved BYS. They got to stay 2 nights at Boise State University in the dorms. Their days were filled with classes and socializing. On the last day there was a devotional and Maddi and Davis played prelude for all the students to arrive. They were chosen from their audition tapes they sent in for the talent show. Great memories. Marshall was sent with a camera to take pictures, but all I got was a picture of his dorm room and random pics from the last day. He figured he better take some pics so I wouldn't get mad.

Boise Road Trip

We took the little kids to the Discovery Center. They could spend hours in this place

Floating the River

Every year Cary and Zach try to get me to run the freezing cold river from Wheeler Farm to Murray Park. This year the water is so high! I have never done it because I am not that stupid! This year they were able to talk Marshall and his friends into going. I am surprised no one drowned.

Girls like Girly Things

I wanted to do something fun for Molly and her cute friend Taylor. I took them to the nail salon at Wal-Mart. So cheap to get a mini-pedicure and manicure. They were in HEAVEN!!

Swim Lessons

 They always complain to have to do swim lessons, but Cole and Molly LOVE swimming. They also get pretty worn out after swimming that bed time is much easier!

Murray Fun Run - Not my idea of fun!

Dana, Marshall and I ran the Murray 5K Fun Run this morning. It is a good thing it was over cast today. I don't know how I could have run in the hot sun! My only goal was to finish - not too high of expectations! Marshall was 24:40. Dana was 24:48. Carey 28 (something) I think 28:30. All I cared was that I made it and I don't think I want to do it again. I like it much better being the spectator with the camera!

Pouring rain didn't stop Cole and Molly from having a water fight on the trampoline!

Scout Court of Honor

At Cole's first court of honor he received his Boy Scout Patch and his first merit badge - Citizenship in the Nation. Marshall received 2 palms (for each palm you have to do 5 extra merit badges in a 3 month waiting period) He is just waiting for 3 more months so that he can get his 3rd palm. Scouting is an adventure that these boys love!

Soccer 3v3 Tournament

Marshall changed soccer clubs this year at tryouts. He changed from Sparta to Blue Knights. Seems like a great change for him right now. Soccer is fun rather than dreaded! Some of his new fellow soccer players made a team to play in the Real Salt Lake 3v3. They designed their wife beater uniforms and looked like the trailer trash team. They were placed in the U16 age group - one up from what they really are. Looked like they would be totally slottered but they ended up making it to the finals - and took second. Very fun to watch these new players work together!

Art Summer Camp

Molly joined some of her friends for an Art Summer Camp. 2 hours on 2 days of the week for 6 weeks at the amazing cost of $30! They did all kinds of art in the yard. Some of their artwork was displayed at the public library. Let me tell you the lady that conducted this camp is very patient and creative!

Last Day of Camp Tracy

Cole had a great time at Camp Tracy. He has the most amazing scout leaders. The older man, Jake, has been a scout leader for 20+ years. He makes sure these boys know their stuff. Dana was able to go spend an day and the night with the troop. Here we go again with scouting - 21 merit badges to go until another Eagle is earned!

Dance Recital

The boys "suffered" through another dance recital. They just hate spending 2 hours of their Saturday supporting their little sister - even though she spends hours and hours in the car going to and from soccer games and practices - and watching those games! Cole justifies that she gets to play while the soccer game is going on. She is still stuck with the short end of the stick! Molly is doing ballet and Jazz this year. She loves loves loves Jazz. Aunt Kim and Jensen (her most supportive cousin!) came to watch for the first time.
