there's a nice programme about singapore's maritime industry. it's a chance to understand my dad's and brother's job better. its quite kewl. THE MARITIME INDUSTRY.. hMms. my dad doesn't want me to take marine. he says its not for a girl. but there's this girl who's taking marine transport, she's doing well. the jobs in the maritime industry are lifelong! Haha. its interesting. imagine being able to stand with the wind in ur face, and the sea all around u, nothing blocking that beautiful sunset in the horizon.. wOW. that is, when u're not stuck in the grimy engine room. i guess. HMMs. so kewl..

nABEi. i wrote out such a long entry, and i just closed the window by mistake. DARN.
nvm. just finished the book 'the notebook'. haha. sounds strange. anyways, only the last few chapters are worth reading. the front thoroughly bored me out. but the end was really touching. i actually cried. OMG. its cried amazing how this woman who's suffering frm alzheimer's can wake out suddenly in the middle of the night, and totally recognise her husband and all. OKAY. nvm. it was touching... siGH..
i think i cry too much. i cried over this book, i cried over 'red sky in the morning', i cry over movies, i cry over stuff. maybe im just too emotional.. hMMs. wish i wasn't so emotional though, makes stuff difficult for pple around me.
Ahs. i just read this article criticising HK disneyland on wikipedia.
FIrst, it's tt its rides are not unique, every other disneyland has them. besides, it doesn't even include the popular stuff like the haunted mansion.
Second, Although the ticket is the cheapest among all Disney theme parks, there are only 22 entertainment items in the Hong Kong Disneyland, comparing to 44 in each of the theme park of Paris, 45 in Tokyo and Florida, and 65 in California. The per-item cost is the highest among all Disney theme parks.
Third, Just before the grand opening, the park was also criticized for setting an overestimated daily capacity limit of 30,000 visitors. The problem became apparent on the charity preview day on 4 Sep 2005, when 29,000 locals flocked to the theme park and found out the most dominant attractions in the park are queues. Waiting for 45 minutes for so-so fastfood and two hours for a hit ride might be a custom of Disneyland, but that's not accepted by most impatient local residents, especially when rain showers have got kids wet from head to toe. The day was concluded by local press as a massive chaos. Although the community and the park's biggest shareholder--the SAR Government (hMM. is tt name just a coincidence or what. haha. SARs) --put pressure on the park to lower the limit, the park insisted to keep the limit and only agreed to relieve the capacity problem by extending opening hours by an hour or introducing more discounts on weekdays. However, the park agreed local visitors tend to stay in the park for about nine hours for each visit--implying the mentioned practices would only make little changes to the problem.
Fourth,several music stars who participated in Hong Kong Disneyland promotional videos, including Kelly Chen. They complained about the rudeness of park employees, especially those from the upper levels of Disney management. Disney has not acknowledged nor tried to correct this problem, even though several stars said that because of this problem, they would not promote for or go to Hong Kong Disneyland ever again. so, there IS some truth to the claims that it is LC-low class. HMM. how bout this: On the opening day of Hong Kong Disneyland, the park estimated that of 16,000 guests that entered the gates, one third were from mainland China. Although they did bring good business to the park, they did cause problems for it. Mainland Chinese tourists visiting Hong Kong Disneyland on its debut day smoked in non-smoking areas, went barefoot and even let children urinate in public. Some people were barefoot and laid their feet on chairs. Sources such as the Apple Daily and Ming Pao showed pictures of visitors from mainland China smoking in restaurants and non-smoking areas and a woman helping a young child loosen his trousers to urinate beside a flower bed. Other offenses include spitting. It is rumored that the famous Sleeping Beauty Castle smells like a smoker's house after the first two days. A person was caught smoking in an area with a sign above him saying a no-smoking zone.
Fifth, The police also insisted that it has definite power to enforce law in the park. But they admitted they cannot get into the park whenever they need to, unless arranged by the security inside the park.
sixth, Some scholars and university students also complain that Disney produced its souvenirs in mainland China, by contracts with local factories. The production conditions are said to be poor, and the workers are exploited. Safety conditions are also unacceptable. Some even further critize that Disney behaves irresponsibly by quickly severing deals with these factories when discovered.
lastly, Environmental issues were also a problem. Reclamation works were carried out before an environment report was concluded. Fishing farms on the island of Ma Wan nearby were not compensated for their loss during the reclamation phase of construction, creating a high level of toxins in the sea and killing the fish. Residents of nearby Discovery Bay are upset about Disneyland's decision to put on fireworks every evening, which creates a large quantity of floating particles in the air, and these are potentially hazardous to people with cardiac and breathing tract diseases. Disneyland has refused to use environmentally-friendly fireworks, despite their use at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, USA; saying they are "unnecessary" in Hong Kong.

sheesh.. being late for band prac was quite fun...haha. well. we missed like half an hour of sectionals only.. (:
Sectionals on morning noon and night. NIE cymbals are so freakily scarily hEAVY!!!! and i had to play quavers. MY goSh. Suppe really loves his cymbals. its the same for poet and peasant too. my hands are sore and my thumb is dead. know why? coz apart frm sectionals, we spent about 1 hour on MNN too. Ecks.. played orient and dance of the yao. YAo sounds like a mix btwn 'feng yang hua gu' and 'when u believe'.. its actually quite nice! (: wonder whats gonna happen when we combine with nie. that means we'll all be slacking.
was watching the singapore=laos match. just for ur info, s'pore won 1-0. mostly by playing boringly and defensively. it was quite disappointing.. anyways, mark richmond was hosting the show and.. his hair looks like michael tay's.... EEEky.
went shopping with jiamin, chong and angela! it was quite fun. but jiamin left after topshop. so sad! (: it was really fun! busted money on jeans and topS!!! (: HAHAAAaa. tt whole table full of colourful racerbacks is tempting me... HMMs. it was realllly fun going out with them! (: yEAh.
the ad for a twist of fate, the musical was like..."the musical boasts the best of local and international talents." hELLO. u pple are just banking on tt angmoh woman lah. tts the only international talent u have! adrian pang? NIe side has like.. 5 percussionists, nj side has 8. so tt makes 13 of us. let's see. orient needs like.. 6-7 pple only.. what other piece are we playing? anyways, i think they all require super little percussionists. we'll be slacking again. not fun. i wanna HIONG abit leh. sigh. so like... i'll be stuck in band pracs every wednesday and saturday. apart frm tt, i'll be stuck with the 2 uNWs and a bunch of other cute kids on mondays and thursdays. Woah. i've been missing in action..
my papers finished on wednesday. i went out till like.. 1am tt day. Watched emily rose with justin and jiangshui. it was sooOOOOOOOOO scary!!!! oMG. oMg oMg omg. emily rose is really scary.
THursday was spent with eilEEn!! Smu is happening. my dream school! thn jipson imposed himself on us.. it was rather fun suaning him. thn i joined jiangshui n justin for more shopping!! but i was damn tired. so i Went hoME first.
Friday was the day everyone else finished their papers. it was quite fun. i went shopping with my YANYANNN! and thn met the class guys for dinner and drinks. SO FUN! gonna miss them lots! oHHH!
i spent the morning with EilEEN! and we went to holland V. We spent the whole journey on the bus watching that funny korean drama of hers. so happening!! (:

welLS. last sunday, i was lying in bed. the view frm my window was damn.. er. green! (: it was quite pretty!!
