Friends and Cookies

I love making sugar cookies but I hate eating them all myself.  So we made the cookies and had our friends over to frost and decorate.  It was so fun.

Prep work licking.

Owen and his carefully decorated cookies.

Isabelle hard at work.

James did not let one tiny crumb go undecorated.

Savannah frosted and ate as she went.  Hence the empty plate.  That's my girl.

Lucy, just like her mother, decorated carefully and artistically.

Told you so.

Ginia just did a whole lot of licking.  So, so delicious.

Reading will change our world

I am so excited for Savannah to learn to read, but at the same time, some sad things will happen.  For example, she will realize that a "finger" is not really a "thinger".  That makes me so sad.

There is a Greek restaurant here that we drive by regularly (see photo).  For fairly obvious reasons Savannah calls it, "Muffin Muffin."  (She made it up completely on her own.)  We have discussed "Muffin Muffin" many, many times and just exactly what they might sell in "Muffin Muffin", and what their hours of operation might be.  Every time we drive by I hear from the back seat, "Muuuuuuuffin Muuuufin!!!"  The other day we drove by and she said, "Heeeeeeyyyyyyy, why is there a "p" on the Muffin Muffin sign?  Muffin Muffin does not have a "p" in it."  What do I say to that.  I'll be honest, I love Muffin Muffin.  What's the fun of Plaka Greek Cafe???

I thought for a minute and said, "Can't we just call it Muffin Muffin?"

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Savannah's class Christmas party was a, "Happy Birthday Jesus" themed party.  When the paper plates came out, it made me a bit uncomfortable, but by the time we were singing, "Happy Birthday to Jesus..." I just couldn't help but join in.  Hooray for the Baptist Church Preschool.

Virginia always thinks she is one of the big kids.  The kids are always so nice to include her.

Holiday Lipstick

Cupcake at Savannah's school Christmas party.

Soft-boiled egg from our neighbor's free-range chickens.  Golden deliciousness.

Christmas cookies.  Yum.

Dear Santa,

Shame on me.

I am a bad mother.  Why do I think this is so funny?  It happened last year too, remember?   This year Dana caught me and it is forever immortalized that I was laughing at my terrified child.  Poor thing.  Clowns and Santa just don't do it for her.

Thanksgiving

I put the last of the Thanksgiving visitors on the airplane today.  We had so much fun hosting a feast for 12 this year.  Family is what it is all about.  Okay, and good food.

The table was set, and Savannah carefully made place cards for each guest.
The guest list included:

It was delicious, and satisfying, and happy, and all the other good things that Thanksgiving is.  Now, on with Christmas!!!

Grace is Wed

It was happiness all wrapped up in one day.  See the reflection in the window of the people cheering?

The nieces were so excited to see Grace in her bride dress. They waited so patiently for her to emerge from the temple.

The dress was so beautiful.  It fit her perfectly.
My Mother made the dress, it was exquisite.  Way to go Mom.

Great-Gramps was there to see it all and represent the other three of a generation that we all missed greatly.
Lovely.

Here, there, and everywhere

I have been lacking on blog posts lately because we have been running all over the place and just haven't had time to sit down and think about it.  Here are a few pictures from the past month or so:

We've been eating grahams and milk.  Yum.

When Savannah is at school, we take her princesses everywhere.

Went to the pumpkin patch with Savannah's school class.  They are such cute children.

Trevor and I went to Virginia to meet up with some dental school friends in the Outer Banks.  I have no pictures of the Outer Banks, but I have pictures of the food that we dream about from our years living in Richmond.  How about a Carytown Burger anyone???  It makes me salivate to see those huge slabs of brie on that burger.  My favorite.

Just for good measure, Trevor had two burgers.
The leaves were just starting to change.  This one is half-way there.  I loved it.

Ahh.  "Castro's Mess" from Millie's.  Seriously the best eggs anywhere.  Oh my.

Then to SLC for a quick visit and a football game.  THANK GOODNESS the Utes won.  We celebrated VA's birthday while there as well.

Home again, and to Savannah's school for the "Fall Festival".  Virginia followed around this little Rapunzel for a long time.  She kept stroking the hair and then had to examine the little gem on the front with Rapunzel's picture on it.  It was a serious invasion of this poor little girl's space.

And now we are just about caught up, for the moment....
