Sweet Landon

Seems like all I've been blogging about lately is Bryce. Sweet Landon is hanging in there. He's a great big brother and loves his brother dearly. I can hardly believe he will turn 4 on April 10th. I have a 4 year old? How is that possible!

Casting Appointment

Jeff took some pictures of the process with his phone. Bryce did really well all things considered.

The mesh "mask"...looks worse than it was. He could see out of it. The lines drawn or so they could tell where his eyebrows were.

The casting...the OT that worked with us (Allison) was great. She will probably be the one we see on a weekly basis after he gets fitted next Thursday.

Half way there

We had Bryce's casting this morning for the DocBand. I'd say all things considered it went pretty well. They had to put a stocking over his head and then cut a hole for his mouth and nose. He did fine when he was laying on his back and while they were doing the front, sides and front top...because he could take a bottle. When we had to sit him up and take his bottle out, he wasn't too happy. So he fussed the remainder of the time. Once they took the cast off then he was fine again. He was in pretty good spirits while we bathed him. I'm sure he had a good nap on the way to the sitters' house. We have his fitting next Thursday.

We're proud of our Red Raiders here at the Wood household. It's Tech Time...all the time :) But seriously, we have so much red and black around here it's a shame not to wear it!

Big Boy!

We started Bryce on rice cereal and stage one baby food last week. He has eaten like a champ! I know I am totally breaking the rules starting him before 4 months, but since he's already in 6-9 month clothes I figured he could handle big boy food. He's doing great. So far he's had green beans, peas, bananas, and pears...and loving it!

DocBand

Bryce has been diagnosed with Plagiocephaly. It's a parallelogram deformity of the head. Really it's not all that uncommon and very treatable. We will be working with an outfit here in Dallas called Cranial Technologies who developed the DocBand...a helmet that Bryce will have to wear 6-8 weeks. He has his casting appointment on Monday, 2/25, where they will do a plaster casting of his head and shoulders. The appointment is about 45 minutes long and the casting itself takes about 12 minutes, which is a long time to keep a baby still. His final fitting will be 10 days after that on Thursday, 3/6. We will have to go back each week for follow up visits and resizing. Hopefully one Band will do it and we won't have to repeat the process after the 6-8 week timeframe.

Anyway, keep him in your prayers. He will have to wear the Band 23 hours a day, only taking it off for bath time. They say that the first day or so is the toughest part, but after that the babies hardly know it's there.

OK...really, are we ever going to be well again?

Short version - Amy to dr. last Thurs: Sinus Infection. Got good drugs. Feeling better. Bryce to dr. last Thurs: Rash everywhere! Coughing. Can't breath. Learned to do super duper nose suction (UGH!). Got steroid cream. Rash gone. Can breath now. Landon: random flu/headache/I have no idea what on Saturday. Gone in a few hours. Acting like the normal out of control 4 year old that he is by Saturday night. Jeff: Annoying cough. So far the only one that hasn't gotten sick full on. Knock...on...wood...

PLEASE DEAR LORD LET US BE WELL THIS WEEK!
