Toby Fox FAC follow-up
[edit]Hi @NRP, just reaching out to follow up on you mentioning possibly reviewing Toby Fox's FAC. We're still currently in need of some image/source reviewing. There are three supports on prose. Wanted to know if you'd be willing to do either, thanks. Travis Mulch (talk) 07:57, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, I can do an image review later today. Thanks for reminding me NRP (talk) 19:03, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- Awesome! Travis Mulch (talk) 19:06, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Travis Mulch @NRP: Funny enough, I was thinking of working on Derpy Hooves to bring it to FAC after my most recent GAN of 15 (software engineer) (which, if passed, would complete the WP:GT), and I was going to ask either of you if you'd like to take that review or if you'd like to help me bring Derpy Hooves to FAC. I don't mean to hijack this conversation, but I figured I should ask since both of you are here. Please let me know if you're interested! Silvers Rayleigh (talk) 19:30, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, I could review 15. It might take me a week or so cuz I'm kinda busy though. NRP (talk) 19:39, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- If you want my honest opinion, if My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic isn't at FA, Derpy Hooves will have significant trouble for "comprehensiveness". Breadth/quality of coverage. That's not to say a main series being B-grade/below while character/episode FAs exist is an absolute, but given the amount of web & literary resources available for the series, you can only stretch specifics about it so far. It's worth noting FiM is a 2011 GA holdover, and has improperly been submitted for FA six times now. Travis Mulch (talk) 20:06, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- That's a fair assessment. I may defer the FAC nomination and target other FIM character articles to nominate to GA instead. Silvers Rayleigh (talk) 20:23, 12 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yes definitely, maybe a Mane Six GT someday? NRP (talk) 23:50, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- @NRP: That's a great idea! I think that'll be my next focus after this GTC passes. Silvers Rayleigh (talk) 17:25, 15 October 2026 (UTC)

World at War GA
[edit]I recently saw that you brought World at War to GA and wanted to say congrats! That game has so many memories for me, especially zombies. I hope to see Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 on GAN soon! If you ever need help let me know. I have been wanting to do these articles for a bit but never had the time. Carnival of Lights (talk) 01:04, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks!! Black Ops 1 and 2 would need a lot of work, I might at some point though. They're classics so I might have to. NRP (talk) 01:35, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
On the alt text
[edit]Sorry, what is up with this revert? Travis Mulch and I agreed on a solution for this, as I mentioned, on their talk page. I have already extensively explained why "refer to caption" is preferred. Is there something that I'm missing? This is quite frustrating for me. ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 19:07, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- It's not a solution to revert back to alt text that doesn't explain what is in the image, and the other nominator agrees. NRP (talk) 19:09, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Alt text does not need to explain what is in the image. It only needs to identify the purpose, which is already explained enough in the caption.I also haven't seen anywhere where the other nominator agrees with you on this (perhaps I just haven't seen the page). Regardless, neither of us would have the majority. ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 19:20, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- MOS:ALTINCAPTION says,
Where the caption is sufficiently descriptive or evocative of the image, or where it makes clear what the function of the image is, one option is to write |alt=Refer to caption.
How are captions like "Fox in 2015" sufficiently descriptive of the image? NRP (talk) 19:28, 14 October 2026 (UTC)- If the caption was "
Fox in a yellow flannel shirt, glancing back at the camera
", the alt text currently, would you be happy? What details are missing that you find necessary? It is an image of Toby Fox. The purpose is to show Toby Fox. Clothing details are not relevant regardless if it is in the caption or alt text. ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 19:49, 14 October 2026 (UTC)- But captions aren't supposed to go into that much detail ... that's the whole point of alt text NRP (talk) 20:14, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- No??? ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 20:37, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Look at the alt text and captions for any featured biography. Respectfully I don't feel like arguing anymore so this will likely be my last reply. NRP (talk) 20:42, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, I can understand your point. My previous interpretation of policy was incorrect in some part of application. Y'know, I feel like this could've been much easier...I do want to ask what should happen with this now. I have more of an idea of what the alt text should be for the article, but I don't especially want to get reverted again if you dislike it. I can do a test in my sandbox if you wish. ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 22:42, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for understanding. I do think the alt text could be improved, I just think it should be more than "refer to caption". Let me know when you improve it. NRP (talk) 23:14, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, I've done it here. ⚙ Crash >> Organhaver ( it / he | talk to me, maybe? ) 19:17, 16 October 2026 (UTC)
- Looks good. On one of them you added "Toby" before "Fox" though, which, like in captions, isn't needed. NRP (talk) 00:50, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
