Why was pacat removed?
I need a way to play an audio file through a bluetooth connected speaker and from what I am reading it should be done fairly easy via aplay or paplay. It seems that /usr/bin/paplay is a link that points to pacat, but in commit "Updated with firmware changes as of build 607" /usr/bin/pacat is removed.

Pulseaudio is no longer supported on the Steam Link, for performance reasons.

Thanks for the information. Is there another tool/way which I could use to play an audio file through a bluetooth connected device currently?

SDL should do the right thing, if you find an SDL audio player that supports your file format.

(I'm obviously not a big fan of PA, although it does help out in some occasions like running chrome on embedded systems).
