Hevc framedrops after latest updates
got a pi4b trixie raspberrypi 6.12.75-v8+
Was able to play 1080p120 before very low packed drops but since december can have frame drops(75%) all over the place with warning slow display.
Even with 60 fps it still drops 50% on Labwc and on x11 it goes to 25%.

does any one know why this is happening.

I am think because the decoder is not using the accel drm of the ffmpeg but not sure how to fix it, gpu usage goes very high dont know it the last part is useful.
edit: drop packets was close to 0% and i was ethernet no wireless stream latency used to be around 20-30ms now lowest is 55ms

Hm. Do you see the same behavior if you switch to H264 (e.g. disable HEVC)? Or if you temporarily disable hardware encoding on the host?

My idle thought is that maybe something changed on the *host* side -- e.g. a new graphics driver that changed how hardware encoding of HEVC works and the RPi hardware acceleration isn't happy with it.
The other thing to try would be rolling back to 1.3.19, also.

But if the problem specifically cropped up in December, my gut feeling is it's something in the ecosystem but outside of the RPi app itself, since I don't recall that there was an RPi build pushed in December -- there was one in mid-November and the next in late January.
I too noticed this regression on my RPi4 (Trixie, 6.18.29+rpt-rpi-v8). I reverted from 1.3.25.302 to 1.3.18.291 and it alleviated the problem altogether (frame drops went from > 75% on 1080@60 to 0%). Some sort of regression in the raspberry Steam Link software?
I captured some logs from the host, runing both versions of Steam Link on the RPi:

1.3.25.302 [pastebin.com]

1.3.18.291 [pastebin.com]
If you do `sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade`, does it want to update any packages? I just want to make sure we're on the same software version.
No, I even did a fresh install of Raspberry Pi OS Trixie to try this out. I did update and upgrade just before installing the steamlink software. I did this just before dropping my first comment in this thread.
I should also say I installed 1.3.25.302 via the package manager (apt install streamlink), while I did a manual install for 1.3.18.291 (downloaded and unpacked the archive).
Thanks. I'm seeing a number of issues on Raspberry Pi here, and I'm trying to track down what has happened.
This is fixed for the next update! Thanks for the report. :)
Can you try the latest beta and see if you run into any issues?
I will give it a try tonight if I find the time :)
I can confirm the performance is back to normal again when trying the beta build (1.3.29.309) :) thank you for the quick fix.
