Steam Link

Is HDR supported in Vision Pro Steam Link?
We have alternative apps like Neo Moonlight and, I think, Moonlight XrOS that support HDR content streamed to the Vision Pro.

I looked through the settings menu of Steam Link but don't see any mention of HDR support. Any idea if future support is planned?

Steam Link supports HDR content, but it's tone mapped to SDR for display in the headset. I can confirm with Apple, but I believe the headset does not display EDR (Apple's version of HDR) brightness.
Ah, I'm surprised! I saw EDR is supported in the Metal framework and the Vision Pro supports Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10. Thanks for responding / checking.
It turns out the headset does support EDR, and support is coming in the next update!
Thanks for the update! I've tried it a few times just now with the latest test flight release.

OS: I am currently on VisionOS 27 Developer Preview. Crashes could be related to running beta OS software.

1. The Steam Link app crashed on me twice. Always when I'm trying to close / exist. Once when I closed the app using the OS level close feature (upon reopening it gave me a crash dialog). Second was when I used the Steam Link back button to stop the stream, resulting in a crash dialog. I shared both dialogs in app.

2. I am unsure how to test if the HDR feature is working or not. I tried jumping into Cyberpunk 2077 and slide it from HDR 1 to 4 but did not notice a change of color or intensity.

Yep, Apple is aware of a crashing regression in visionOS 27.

If you turn on the performance graph and you see P010 in the capture method, then you're getting HDR content.
So I turned on the performance graph on the Steam Link client in VisionOS. At the bottom I just see "Capture: [resolution] @ [frame rate]"

I don't see P010 anywhere. I was abele to revisit CP2077 and confirm in the settings I could turn on HDR in the menu. After doing so in the game I can tell HDR 1 leaves colors more muted and washed out, while HDR 4 looks more intense. So the slider is making a difference.
Great, I'm glad you figured it out.
