2 at last

Another birthday past for the year. Jhett turned two on Friday. We had a great day!!! Jhett walked around all day singing "Happy to Me" He loves the birthday song and has had plenty of opportunity to sing the song to half the family in the last few months. The kids and I made a mickey mouse birthday cake for him and he blew out the candles 4 or 5 times. He even blew out the flame on our candle on the counter a few time when he got up in the morning. When we told him it was his birthday that day he wanted to "blow candles" first thing. He is really getting to be a big boy and can tell us what he wants. Sometimes the things he says are amazing. I guess having so many older brothers and sisters helps his vocabulary!!!! We are sure glad he is apart of our family!!

Only Two Months

Well it has only been 2 months since I last posted anything. We have been busy doing all kinds of great things. Since then, Jaxon has turned 6, Shelby has turned 12. We have been to Utah 2 times for two quick weekends. I started my second year of teaching preschool with two classes instead of one, figured out how to make cute scripture bags that Tracy saw at a craft fair(they were $75.00 there...mine cost about $5-8) and had 16 people stay the night one night, with 13 of them being children. Not to mention PTO, church, BYU games and Aubri's running around now that Best Robotic has started up again. I am never bored!!!! Everyone is doing well and we are excited for the cooler weather. Jhett's birthday is coming up, basketball season will start soon with Kielee and Konner playing and we are trying to think of something great to do for the old man in our house who will turn 40 next month. If you have any great ideas, let us know. (Kevin never reads this blog so we don't have to worry about him!!)

Moving UP

Jhett is becoming a little man these days, he is cleaning the bathrooms,(well if you count spraying the mirrors with a squirt bottle and using a make-up brush to smear it all over, or dumping all the liquid soap on the counter playing in it.)carrying a phone on his hip and talking to everyone, and sleeping in a big boy bed. Yes Jhett is out of his crib and sleeping in a bed. Kevin and I went out and made the exciting purchase of a new twin size bed. Shelby was really happy because we gave her the new bed and Jhett got her old one. He doesn't go to sleep any better then he did last week but he still goes to sleep before midnight and he still takes a nap which I am really grateful for.

School Starts

On August 12, 2009 school started. Everyone was excited to go to school. Jhett was excited too until we dropped everyone off. Lucky for him he got to spend the first few days at the school as well since I am the PTO President at the elementary school. The last 2 days we have only had to go for a little while each day so now he wants me to play with him all the time.

Catching UP

Thought I should catch you up on the happenings at the NM Kinghorn home. We finished AllStars on July 27th. Kielee's team did great. They didn't win state but that was ok with us.  She had a fun summer playing softball 6 days a week and was sad to stop. She is now looking forward to basketball.

The girls had friends over a couple of days before school started for a sleepover. They made pizzas, talked and talked, watched movies and made dessert for us. I took them to walmart and gave them $5.00 a pair to make a dessert with. They had to get ALL the ingredients with their $5.00.  They did really good. We had Strawberry shortcake that Kielee and her friend made, chocolate covered strawberries that Shelby and her friend made and mud pie that Aubri and her friend made. They were all really good and I think they had a fun time.

We had rain on and off this summer which was a nice change. It hardly ever rains here. The kids had fun playing out in it a few days before school started.

Still Busy

One day my post isn't going to start with us being busy.... most likely that will be 30 years from now. In the last few weeks we have gone to softball almost everyday, had Grandma and Grandpa Hjorten come for a quick visit, sent Aubri off to Utah to visit with family and help my sister Kristin, swam almost everyday, had Erik and Tracy and their families come and visit and roasted in the 100+ degree weather, just to name a few things.

Today we are off to the state championship for Kielee's softball team.  They won yesterday and she is excited to play today. Luck for us it is in Albuquerque and not in another part of the state. We only have to drive 45 mins. to get to the ball park. Some of the teams who are playing have to drive more then 4 hours.

Kielee's team won their Championship game last night, it was a great game!!!! The score ended up 6 to 2. We were really excited, now they go to state. We will see when that is.  It should be fun!!!

Sorry it's been so long, we have been busy as usual.  Kielee made the all star team for softball minors this year. She has been practicing 6 days a week for the last 3 weeks and had her first game last night. They killed the other team 16 to 3. It was over in 4 innings instead of 6  - all star rules are if a team is up by 10 at the end of the 4th they call the game. Kielee got up to bat 4 times, struck out once, walked and hit to right field the other two times. She played catcher and got one girl out at home. Her whole team did great. We can't wait for the next game!!!

A great day

What a great day I have had today. For those of you who don't know, today is my birthday. The day started out with a delicious breakfast of buttermilk pancakes and strawberries, made by Aubri. Then the children sent me outside to see what my wonderful friends made for me.  It was a new mailbox custom painted by Keri. It is sooo cute!!!! It even had warm strawberry muffins in it that were the best muffins I have ever had! Thank you so much Keri and Taffy for being such great friends! I love my present!!!  

Next we were off to church where Jhett refused to go to nursery but that is nothing new. When we got home, Kevin and the kids made me a yummy dinner of hamburgers with cheese and bacon, raspberry, orange green salad, with caramelized almonds and chips and dip. The strawberry cake is in the fridge waiting on friends to come over and enjoy it with us.

I also received some thoughtful presents. Aubri made me a CD of my favorite songs, Kielee and Aubri got me a gift card to Panda Express and Kevin and all the kids got me a new bike, and seat for Jhett to ride in. I am so excited to go riding hopefully we can get Jhett's seat on tomorrow.

Aubri The SMART

Aubri received the Student of the Year award for the 8th grade this year.  The plaque was really cool. I tried to take a picture of it so you can see what great things her teachers said about her. Hopefully you can read it. She was also named student most likely to succeed for the 8th grade. This award was voted on by her peers. Way to go Aubri!!!!

Really quick I wanted to add that Jaxon got the Character Counts award for Trustworthiness  at school last week and Shelby was in a play called "I Need A Vacation"  Jaxon was soooo excited and Shelby had a solo and did a great job. Kevin and I are so lucky to have such great kids!!!

Mother's Day....

The day before mother's day I was bringing sheets down the stairs and tripped over some toys. One caught on one of my toes and I kicked it off. It really hurt! Awhile later while I was hopping around, I noticed my toe was starting to get bigger and bigger. Then it turned purple. So for Mother's Day I got to hop around church with a broken toe!! On the plus side, I got to wear sandals to church (which I never do)!!!

Oh, I want to say, that I have a great daughter, Aubri got flowers for me for Mother's Day and planted them in the planters in front of the house. They look great!!!
