We have been very busy bees over the last few months. OK has been working non-stop with back to back classes, we are expecting baby number two, I am trying to re-open my daycare (which is proving to be harder than it should), and Rory just turned 3 years old.
OK (for those of you who don't know) is an instructor and has had back to back classes. They are about half a month long and just as one ends another comes along about 10 days or so later. That does not mean he has 10 days off, nope during that time he has to train the people he works with to be able to teach (they have A LOT of new people who do not know all of the classes yet). On the up side though he has been accepted and given a class date to retrain into a new job. He does not leave for another 12 months and some odd days, but nonetheless he has it; by the time he leaves for his retrain and is done with it we will have lived at our duty station for 7 years if not a little longer. On top of working all the time he has been taking college classes for his BS. He has a graduation coming up in November for his CCAF (Community College of the Air Force) degree, which is equal to an AA degree. He was also put up for SSGT (staff sergeant) of the quarter for not only his area, but for his group, and for the base. He won for both his area and for the group, but sad to say he did not get it for the base. This was his second time winning for his area though, which is really an accomplishment seeing as he has only been at his current location for just over 2 years (I say "only" because its a bit of a short time to get it twice, but it is still kinda a long time when you look at it from my view).
I am trying to re-open my daycare. I have gone through the class that is mandatory for having an in home child care on base. Now its just trying to get everything else done to get my final inspection taking care of so they can send up for my license. With OK working non stop and having Rory its proving to be a little harder than it was the first time around. The office where I can check things out for the daycare is only open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm which of course is during the times OK works so I have no one to watch Rory so I can go up there. Maybe with this next class he will have a day off during the week where he can stay home with her and I can go get what I need to get it open and start watching kids. I do not plan on taking full time kids until after I have the baby. I think it would be easier to do temp, back up, drop in, and PCS care until the baby comes. That way when I have an appointment I do not have to stress on what if the parents are going to find back up care for their children for me to have the day off.
RORY IS POTTY TRAINED!!!! We got her almost all the way potty trained by the middle of July and then a few days ago we got a gate to go up in the hallway so she could go from her room to her bathroom at night if she needs to go. Rory just celebrated her 3rd birthday. I can not believe she is already 3yrs old. We had a small party for her at the house with just cake and ice cream. I made her a Mickey Mouse cake (it was kind of small so we bought cupcakes so there would be enough). The day after her party (after OK got home from work) we left for Cali so we could take her to Disneyland. Of course she loved it; when I told her it was time to go she looked at me and said "No mommy, I stay here with Mickey Mouse, you go", so needless to say she was a little sad to leave. We were going to try and take her back for Mickey's not so scary Halloween, but with me being the Key Spouse of OK's group we may have to go to the Air Force ball this year which is going to take the money we have saved for another trip to Cali. I'm not too happy about it, but it comes with the job. Rory has really been a character herself lately. I need to take a shower so we could run to the store so I turned on cartoons for her and jumped in the shower. I took a faster shower than normal due to not having anyone to watch her. I got out of the shower to find her covered in pink marker (it took two days and two 30min baths to get it off of her), she had it all over her face, arms, legs, feet, hands. the top of her back, and her butt was covered (not really sure how she did that one). I looked at her and asked her what she did, the response I got was "I didn't do it, my hand was bad" she has been using that one a lot lately. I told her that her hand as part of her body and with it did was because she did it, she did not like that. I told her that she should not write on herself and that was pretty much it; that is until I went down stairs and saw that she had drawn on my floor, fridge, stove, and cabinets. At this point I was really mad with her and she got sent to her room, so I could calm down. This happened a few weeks ago and we have not had anymore issues with her doing things she shouldn't until today that is. She woke up pretty early this morning so at 1pm she told me she wanted to go take a nap and of course I took her up stairs and put her to bed. She stayed up playing instead of going to sleep. Well I went to check on her about an hour and a half after putting her up there. Once I got up there I saw that our cat had something on his side. I picked him up to see what it was and my wonderful loving child had put bubble bath down his side. That's not so bad he can get a bath to get it off no problem, no the problem comes when I went into her bathroom and found that the bubble bath has been pored ALL over her bathroom floor. I have no clue how I am going to get it all up without it bubbling all over the place.
Well that is about all that has been going on with us. I will post an up-date when we find out what the sex of the baby is. I will also post Rory's 3yr photos, along with her birthday pics and our photos from our disney trip a little later. Not all the photos have been added to my computer yet.
