Birthday Dinner

This past week I turned 24 and my family took me to Market Street Grill for some delicious seafood! We had so much fun and like always, the food was amazing. Jen and Glen gave me a gift certificate for a day at the spa which I am so excited about. My Mom is taking me on a shopping spree after I lose a few more post pregnancy lbs. Tanner was loving the dessert but who can blame him? The almond raspberry torte is truly the best in the world. I guess after that meal my shopping spree will be put off a little longer but hey you only celebrate your birthday once a year!

Hello Smiles, Goodbye Hair!

Today Julia is six weeks old and here is a quick update on what our angle has been doing:

First, she has been smiling up a storm for the past two weeks. It truly is amazing how she reacts to our voices. It's so fun to make her smile!

Second, she has decided to sport a skullet (not a mullet because it isn't just short in the front, it doesn't exist in the front) for spring! It is so funny but I am so happy she is good at wearing bows.

Third, she rolls over! The first time was about 4 days ago and I thought it was just a fluke because she is so young but yesterday she did it again!! She was trying to look at Kelso and she arched her back, gave one good kick and over she went! Both times it scared her to death and she screamed and screamed. So cute!

Fourth, she is weighing in at 8lbs. 14oz.! (She started at 6lbs. 7oz.) We have had some trouble nursing so her doctor let me come in to weigh her and she is growing good and strong!

Here are some pictures of her in her Easter dress. We didn't have the best Easter because I did end up getting what Travis had (tonsillitis) and we spent the day trying to nourish ourselves back to health. We are all feeling much better now and are enjoying our growing baby girl!

How long have you been married? 4 1/2 years.
How long did you date? Technically we started dating around February of 2003 and got married that October. 9 months? Quick I know!
Who eats more sweets? ME! I am a candy freak.
Who said I love you first? He did. I knew I loved him but I was afraid to love him. I kind of had a boyfriend at the time (okay so a missionary).
How old is he? 24. Everyone always thinks he is so much older, I guess he is just mature!
Who is taller? He is. I am 5'7 and he is 6'1 and a half. Believe me that half is important to him!
Who is smarter? It seems like Travis is because he has a photographic memory and good with numbers but sometimes he says things that clearly indicate I am smarter! (no I won't tell the alligator story, don't worry Travis)
Who sings better? We are both AWFUL!
Who does the laundry? I do.
Who pays the bills? Travis does.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Travis, I have a thing about being furthest from the door.
Who mows the lawn? HOA.
Who drives? I always make Travis drive. I always say it is the boys job to drive! However I have never gotten a ticket. I am by far a better driver.
Who is more stubborn? Depends on the subject. I would say we are pretty equal.
Who kissed who first? He did, that is also the boys job :)!
Who asked who out? Travis asked me out. I was so excited because I had been seeing him around campus and named him my "mystery man"! I wasn't interested (again the missionary) but thought he was cute and my type. When we finally started talking we clicked. We found out he was from the same small town my Dad grew up in, we were both converts to the LDS church, and we had met in Bear Lake when we were 15! It was pretty freaky. We had so much in common. Then as fate would have it, Snow College's match maker weekend came around and after taking a lengthy survey, we came back as each other's most compatible mate! So cheesy but quite the coincidence. He then asked me to go sledding at Soldier Hollow. I will never forget how much fun we had or how much we laughed.
Who has more siblings? We each have an older sister.
Who wears the pants? I like to think I do, but I am sure he likes to think he does. It's probably 50/50! We make a great team.

The Flu Strikes

For those of you who don't know, I have been a paranoid freak about not getting Julia sick. I have not taken her out in public once and don't plan on it until she is six weeks old to the day, just like doctors orders. I have turned down visitors if they have a smidgin of a sniffle or cough. I know way too many babies with rsv and according to my labor and delivery nurse it is the worst rsv season for the Salt Lake valley in five years. One bad story of a baby who spent months in Primary Children's Hospital from a sick visitor coming over was all it took for me. I am on guard with hand sanitizer in every corner of my house. A little much I know but I can't help it, my worrying Mother's genes are instilled in me.

So Sunday night Travis came home from Las Vegas and Julia and I were so happy to see him. Let's just say we each got a lot of kisses! Monday morning, Travis wakes up with the terrible flu. I panicked of course and made a bed for him down on the couch. I set up his lap top and gave him reading material to make sure he didn't need anything from up stairs where Julia and I would be hiding out.

Well two days later and he keeps getting worse. In four and a half years of marriage I have never seen him so sick. Poor guy went to the doctor today and they ended up giving him two IVs. They took some blood to make sure it isn't a bacterial infection and the doctor said because he was so sick he needed to come back in the morning. I feel so bad for him, especially because I haven't been able to take care of him like I want to. I have kept Julia upstairs for two days straight and I am just praying we don't get it. He is also so worried about Julia and is asking me constantly how she is doing.

I am just hoping that tomorrow he might feel a little better and we can all put this past us! I won't lie not only do I miss being around him, I miss his help with the baby! It's been a rough week for the Millers but this to shall pass.

Mistake

Today I made a mistake, a big, huge mistake....I tried on my pre-pregnancy jeans. They have all been sitting neatly on the top shelf of my closet purposely out of reach. I don't know what got into me but I decided to pull a pair or two down. Did I expect to squeeze into them? No. Did I hope to squeeze into them? Yes. Lets just say they weren't budging past my butt :( It literally brought me to tears (I am a little emotional these days).

However, it also motivated me. I have been reading my Shape magazines and finding the best exercise classes on comcast on demand but more than anything I am looking forward to getting back to the gym. I love my gym (Lifetime Fitness) and can't wait to start sweating in those aerobic classes. Until then I think I will be covering every mirror in my house!

Spring Fever?

Spring fever? Don't go to Woodland Hills! I forgot to mention this terrible sight at my parent's house. Yes, that is their roof peeking out of the top of the snow bank. There is so much snow I don't think it will melt until August! All my Dad could do was talk about moving and I don't blame him. I am so ready for summer and I think I would fall into a deep depression if I had to look at this all day. Thank goodness for sunny Draper!

Weekend fun

This last weekend Travis was out of town for work so Julia, Kelso and I decided to pack up and go stay at my Mom and Dad's house. We had a nice relaxing time and I actually got some sleep! Grandma was more than thrilled to have Julia in her arms 24/7! We watched movies and just hung out. There is nothing like going home and having your Mom cook and take care of you.

On Sunday we celebrated my Dad's Birthday and also an early Easter because my parents will be in St. George working on their house next weekend. The whole family came over and we had a great dinner. We also had fun watching Tanner go on his Easter egg hunt. Both he and Julia got the cutest Easter baskets from Grandma. We had fun singing to my Dad who is less then thrilled to be another year older (sorry Dad)!It was a fun weekend but I am so happy Travis is back!

Cousins!

Last week Travis' family came from San Diego to stay with us. It was so fun to see them and Grandma really loved Julia. We also got to meet our new niece Zoe who is just two months older than Julia. She is so cute and so big!! She just loves watching her brothers Zach and Zane. The boys kept us laughing, they are always great entertainment! It was good to see everyone and we hope to make it down to sunny California soon!

We got our pictures back and I have to say, I am really happy with them! There are so many to chose from so I thought I would share a few of my favorites! Sarah did a great job, especially given the circumstances! Three Weeks Old

Julia is three weeks old today and has reached a few milestones! She has officially grown out of newborn diapers and newborn onsies! She is also trying out the binki thing. Yes, she may be the first baby ever to not want a binki. Some might say this is a good thing because a binki is simply a bad habit that I will someday have to break. I beg to differ when I am nothing but a human binki for her now! Not to mention she has several binkies that are just too cute to be unused!
She is growing fast and I can't believe it has already been three weeks but at the same time I can't really remember life without her! We are so in love with our little girl!
