For the last week, the temperatures have been below 0 degrees. Although it is terribly cold, this cold has brough unbelievable beauty. The moisture in the air is turned to ice crystals which cling to tree branches (known as hoar frost). Each day the crystals get thicker. Pictures don't do justice to the beauty of this "fairy land" looking landscape.
When the sun hits the ice crystals just right, it forms colored patches of light. We saw a sundog in our neighborhood. .
