Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge

Happy Monday!!  Can you tell I'm super excited about this?!!!!!!!!!  This is the very first Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge!!  WAHOOOO!  This week the theme is 'Pick Your Own Holiday' (think of the possibilities)!  You can find several ideas for holiday by clicking here or any other website that shows national celebrations in March.

For this challenge I went with Johnny Appleseed Day!  Depending on the website you look at it can either be March 11 or March 18.  Nobody knows the exact date of his death so they don't know exactly when to celebrate the day.  I love this time of year because you know the beautiful blossoms are coming out which means that we get to eat (and can) yummy apples!!  So, in celebration of Johnny Appleseed Day I made this card. :)

The card is a normal A2.  The apple is from Preserves cut at 3.25 (I tried some of the doodling/stitching - what do you think?).  I found this phrase and just wrote it on a scratch piece of paper.  The background paper is from Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety stack.  This actually leads me to the sponsor of the challenge this week . . .Cosmo Cricket!!!

A Few More Birthday Cards

Those that know a little about me or have hopped with me know that my little ones have a lot to do with my cards.  I am first and formost a Mommy!  Well, the following three cards are very simple (VERY, VERY SIMPLE).  I must appologize for the . . . interesting color schemes.  These cards were made for my family and so it means the world to my children to pick the colors and design the cards.

This one is for my youngest brother.  My little boy designed it and wouldn't let me put anything else on it.  Made using Create A Critter.

This one was made for one of my Aunts.  She's very special to me, and has a very special place in the heart of my daughter.  So of course my little girl designed this one.  She let me add a little bling to it, but not much else.  This little lady is from Walk in My Garden.

This one is for my Niece.  She lives in Canada so we don't get to see her very much, but she happened to be down for a little over a week.  She loves the Twilight series (which is the reason for the Apple), and the butterfly is because my little girl wanted it on there.  Again, my children picked the paper.  Well, what do you do?! :)  Both are from Create A Critter.

Teacher Gift

Wow, it's been crazy at my house; it seemed like it was one thing after another.  Well, I've been working on this project for a while now (I know - terrible)!!  My oldest just started kindergarten and LOVES it!!  Between riding the bus, meeting new people and learning new things she couldn't be happier!!  I made this little gift for her teacher. 

I used a recipe box I got on sale to hold the cards (looking back I wished I would have decorated the box . . . oh well).  For the cards I just printed off the sentiment on a few sheets of beautiful cardstock that I have.  I made it so that I could cut 8 cards out of one sheet of paper.  I cut out a few apples from the Preserves cartridge and used some stamps I had for the rest of them.  I thought the teacher might like a little bit of variety.  I also made the teacher a quick card with this little poem I thought of.

We wanted to thank you
For all that you do
So this simple card set
Was made just for you
A handwritten note
Can always reach
The hearts of the children
You lovingly teach
For praise or reward
To brighten their day
For you to use
In just about any way
Again, we just wanted
To gratefully say
Thank you for everything
You do every day!!

Throwback Thursday

I LOVE the Throwback Thursday Challenge, it is held by Emma over at My Creative Time.  She challenges crafters to use an older cart and go with the theme.  This week the challenge was to use the Paisley cartridge and to use a "Back to School" theme.  Well, I don't have Paisley (although it's on my very long wish list), so I just used the Plantin Schoolbook and Hannah Montana carts.  The card is for my little girl, she gets to go to Kindergarten this year (and she is so excited)!!!   She is our oldest so this is a first for my DH and I; we'll see how her younger brother copes with her being gone (they're best buds).   I wanted to make her first day of school extra special for her; knowing how much she loves cards, I know she'll love it!!!  I loved making it for her!!!

The font is from Hannah Montana and the apple is from Plantin Schoolbook.  The apple is actually a spinner (two pennies separated by a pop dot).  I've seen a few of these around, sorry I can't pin-point the one site that I found it on.  If it was from your site, just let me know because I'd love to give you credit!!  Thanks for stopping by!!
