Scrapbookaholic by Abby Challenge

This week over at Scrapbookaholic by Abby the challenge that we have going on is to create something with an animal and using the color orange.  The reason for that is because this month the ASPCA celebrates the 'Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month'.   So in honor of that I decided to make this cute little frame.  I know most people would have put a cut-out of a dog or cat, but I chose a deer.  We love taking pictures of them, so I thought it would be fun!

Recipe:

• Deer - cut from Create A Critter at 2.0
• Flower - no idea! :)
• String - you're guess is as good as mine
• Phrase - no brand name, just something my MIL gave me

Flaunt it Fridays!

Wow!  Is it Friday already?!  I have no idea where this week has gone!  Anyone else have weeks like that?  I'm so excited for another Flaunt It Fridays challenge!!  This week the challenge is to use 3 Birds on Parade cartridge with the Disguise Bird.  Like usual, this is not a cart that I own.  I'm so glad we can use a similar cut (otherwise I wouldn't be able to participate in many of the challenges! LOL!)


For my DT submission I decided to use CAC for the little chick, and fortunately CAC also had a sunglasses cut. :)  I know it was supposed to be more of a disguise, but I AM READY FOR SOME SUNSHINE!!!!!  :)

Recipe:

• The chick was cut at 3.75 
• Flocking on the little belly (because I thought it would look cute)
• Hero Arts "Anyone Can Stamp" for the sentiment
• MS border punch
• Ribbon - not sure where it's from
• Misc. flowers and bling. :)
• Homemade pop dot on the beak (to make it stand above the glasses) 
• Scrap paper

I wanted to stick with a simple card.  Recently, I noticed that I kept wanting my cards to get bigger and better and more detailed; but realized that it doesn't need to be.  :)  Sometimes it's the cute and simple that are fun. :)  So even though it's simple, I still hope you enjoy it.

I'm so excited to be a part of Jen's blog hop.  I hope many of you know Jen at The Purple Scrapbooker, if not - you really should!!  She's so amazingly talented; I'm so honored that she let me be a part of her Birthday Blog Hop!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!!!!!!

When Jen asked if I would be a part of her hop, of course I said YES!  I also asked her a few questions about her favs (favorite treat, favorite movie, etc).  Well, one of her favs is the color purple (of course), but another fav is the movie Steel Magnolias.  So to help Jen celebrate her Birthday, I wanted to make this card **I didn't get into town so Jen won't get this card until next wee; sorry Jen!**  Yes, the flowers are supposed to be Magnolias. :)

The card fits into a legal size envelop (I think it's around a 9x4).  The branch and flowers are from Gypsy Wanderings cut at 2.5.  I cut the flowers out twice so that I could layer them.  I inked one set of flowers (purple around the sides and yellow in the middle) to give a little bit of color; and what is a flower without a little pearl in the middle?! :)   I used an older stamp set for the sentiment and used a MS border punch for the top and bottom of the sentiment.  The butterflies are layered stickers; I just wanted to give the card a little more color and a little something else. :)  Here's a picture of the flowers.  I used homemade pop dots to pop them up a bit and curled the edges of the top layer.  I liked the effect. :)

Just Because

This card turned out better than I originally hoped! I made it for one of the ladies in my church group. She was helping me with a couple of things and I wanted to give her a card to thank her for everything.
The flower is from Gypsy Wanderings, and again I used some non-brand Stickles. It's a very simple, quick and easy card, but I like it. Thanks so much for stopping by - Now I'm off for more hunting. :) Thanks for the comments too - they really mean a lot to me!!!! :)

Another Simple Thank You

This is a very, very simple Thank You card.  Like I said, my card box is empty and needs to be filled up again. 

It's hard to see, but the cream colored background paper actually come embossed.  I get it at a local paper store (LOVE IT).  The phrase is from Gypsy Wanderings, the flower paper is from my scratch box. :)  Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Little Religious - Might Offend

As many of you out there know - I live in a very small farming town!  Funny thing is that we don't even live 'in the town'.  Since we live so far from any big towns our Internet has a few problems here and there.  Well, it's been giving me problems for the last three days!!!! GRRRR!  So, sorry to those of you that I haven't stopped by yet - I'm working on it! :) Now onto my card . . .

I made two of these cards for two of the ladies that I visit with each month.  One is a new mommy so she is always busy with her new little one and both have been sick recently.  The other was for a lady that I won't be visiting as much any more.  It does have a scripture on it, so that may offend people.  If so, I'm sorry, but it's part of who I am. :)  I thought they turned out OK.  You pull out the flowers to see the message.

More Than Favors challenge

Paula at More Than Favors has a challenge going right now.  The challenge is to use Pink, Black, Gray, and White.  As I was thinking about what type of card to make, I found out that one my friends lost her Father-in-law.  I wanted to make a card for her and this is what came to mind.

I used Gypsy Wanderings for the branch and pink flowers. The white parts of the flowers are just some white Prima flowers I had.  I'm not sure where the stamp is from (sorry)!!

Well, such is life . . .

It's been a tough week.  I received a call on Tuesday from my boss with some upsetting news.  Upper management had made a decision that they will no longer have any employees working from home (which is me).  What can I say - when it rains, it pours!!!  Very upsetting news!  Thank heaven my Hubby is the bread winner, but this means that we're going to be cutting down on our extra spending.  **Translation - Celeste doesn't get any new carts for a while!!!!!**  :(

I can't be too upset, I thought it would happen eventually I just hoped I would have more time.  It is hard for me to accept, and my boss had a hard time too.  I have been her assistant for the last 5 plus years.  We work AMAZINGLY together!  She is one of my best friends!!!  I wanted to give her a card to thank her for being such a great boss, but more importantly, my friend!  She's one of those people that touches your heart and soul!! 

This card was made from some paper I got at a local paper/envelope store and scraps.  The word 'friends' is from Gypsy Wanderings and the flower and dragonfly is from Home Decor.

EEEEEEE!  So Happy!!!!  Da da da da da da!!!  **Doing my happy dance!!!**

I posted a little while ago that I won something from Carol with Paper Arts!  YEAH!!  Well, I just got the flowers from her last night.  My DH and I had a few things to get done, but I was able to get a cute little card made up.  The hardest part was trying to figure out which flower to use first!!!!!! 

This card is for some of the ladies in my community (Relief Society Presidency).  They've done a few things for me lately and I owe them big time!!!

Thanks again Carol!!!!!  I love the flowers!!!  Don't worry, you know I'll put them to use!!!!!  What do you think?!

Happy Birthday Sis!!

I made this card for my younger sister.  I can't say 'little' sister because she's taller than me (and a lot tougher).   I used the Hannah Montana cartridge to get the butterfly.  My little girl wanted to make a card for my sister that had Hannah Montana on it, but I re-directed her thoughts away from that and towards something else.  So my little girl decided that we needed to make a card using a butterfly and flower.  We hope she enjoys it!  Happy Birthday Stevie!!!

A Personal Challenge

I was visiting with my family and I had a thought. **Those in my family know that I will act on these thoughts - even if they seem a little off the wall. I found that when I follow these thoughts there is usually a reason (even if I can't tell what it was right away).** I starting thinking about what a wonderful family I have. Husband, Children, Parents, Siblings, In-Laws, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and so on!!!!!!! I really don't know what I would do without them. So, the thought that came to mind was that I really need to set a goal to send a card to someone in my family once a week. Not just a card for them to give away (like I normally do), but one that is actually intended for them. So, after this thought - I acted. Here is the first one. :)

My Pink Stamper Challenge

I don't normally do these challenges, but we'll see what happens. The challenge was to use pink, green and black. This one does have all of those colors in it, but those aren't the only colors. I hope it qualifies, if not - well, it was a card I felt I needed to make. :)

I made this card after having a deep conversation with my Mom. Like all wonderful Mothers out there she always has amazing insight. After all said and done I came up with this card.



You can't really tell from this angle, but the watering can sticks out a bit farther than the sign or the flowers. I really think it turned out great. For some reason I love the thoughts that come to mind when I the word 'Grow', but my Mom loved the word, 'Faith'. (Ok, so I like them both) So needless to say I made a few cards for my Mom with the word 'Faith' instead of 'Grow'. I hope you enjoy!!!
