Primary

 I subbed in Primary again today.  This time I had the 7&8 year olds.  They were cute kiddos.  I do miss being in Relief Society though.

Rain

 Oh, we are getting some much needed rain. I hope it rains, and rains, and rains today!

Father's Day

Father's Day is tomorrow and I can't let the weekend go by without expressing my love and appreciation to the men who have fathered me.

I miss my Dad, Sid Snapp, who left us way too young. I appreciate the sacrifices and love that he gave to me throughout my life. He was such a hard working man and made sure I didn't lack for anything in my life.

I am also thankful for the other man in my life, Frank Dimick, who has been a father to me. You have blessed me with your knowledge, your advice, your concern, and your love and you are loved and appreciated in return. Thank you.

 

Federal Tax Problem

 Earlier I received a letter from the IRS stating that they had adjusted my tax refund due to a miscalculation on my part.  When I received the explanation, it was because they used standard deduction and I had an itemized deduction.  When I finally got through on the phone, they said they didn't have an itemized deduction form from me.  I know it was in the envelope when I sent it in.  The guy I was talking with told me to send a copy and state that I had originally sent that in and ask for them to reverse the decision.  I did send in a letter so we will see if they count it and send me the whole refund.  I'm not expecting this to happen very quickly.  Time will tell.

Gas Smell

This has been quite the week of unusual things happening.  I needed to go to Roosevelt to pick up a prescription on Monday.  While I was getting ready, I thought I could smell something horrible.  I took out the trash, checked my pilot light on my furnace, and made sure that it wasn't me.  The smell went away as I was in my car driving to Roosevelt.  However, when I returned home, there it was again.  I went over to Gardners (2 houses away) to see if they could smell it.  Outside of their house, they could.

I had a difficult time sleeping as the smell was so strong.  

Tuesday morning, I felt like I should call Dominion Energy company because I could still smell this awful scent. I had finally narrowed the smell down to a gas smell.  I was certain it was NOT in my home except fumes through the open window and swamp cooler usage.  They told me that someone would be up within about an hour.  In the meantime I went to the grocery store to talk with my next door neighbors who work there.  They, too, had the strong smell at their house the previous day.  A worker did come up within the hour.  He told me that Moon Lake Electric had called on Monday.  He had his gas detector wand but couldn't pick anything up.

Tuesday night wasn't bad to sleep.  The scent didn't seem to be there, but Wednesday morning there is was back as strong as ever.  I saw a couple of Dominion Energy trucks in the neighborhood throughout the day.  They had reassured me that my house (and me) was safe so I just tried to live with the smell hoping it would go ahead soon.  Late afternoon I went out to change my water in the yard, and a Dominion Energy worker was pulling out of the Moon Lake Electric Lot across the street.  He came over to me and told me that they had finally discovered what the problem was.  One of the workers there at Moon Lake Electric had some bear bait there in the lot yard.  Apparently the heat was too much and somehow the scent was totally escaping the container.  The owner took it immediately home and we would no longer have that horrible smell!

I have learned that I do not like the smell of “Bear Bait.” The bears are welcome to it!

It will be way too soon if I ever have to smell it again.

 The Relief Society had their first activity for over a year  tonight .  We were to bring some kind of jello dish.

Weeds

 Tell me why weeds can multiply and flourish in this drought weather? They have grown more already than they usually do the whole summer season. It is so discouraging and I can’t take care of them fast enough.

Cooler?

 I just went over to Gardners house. When I went in I told them that it is much cooler outside.

Then we looked to see what the temperature was. It was 80 degrees! Am I losing it? I really thought it was “cool” outside!

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

 Today is National Chocolate Ice cream Day! Mary is enjoying hers with sprinkles.

Rozy is giving me the sad eyes trying to get me to give her a bowl full!!!

Primary sub

 I subbed in primary today. Things have changed in Primary a great deal since I worked there. Class is very short and it is weird that you have to have two adults in there. The kids were good, but I forgot that these little ones need so much movement!!!!

 What a clean, beautiful car!!! And it just received a full service! (Oil change, rotate tires, multi-point check up, and car wash) See, I do know how to leave the Basin once in awhile.
