Spring at the Temple

Spring is my favorite season and the temple always is beautiful with all the spring blossoms and flowers. It's my favorite. Sunday was a perfect day. We had stake conference so we had time to go and stroll around and enjoy it. Grateful we have the temple just 5 minutes from our house!

You'd think flowers would get old but these girls ran to every patch of flowers in utter delight!

It's been far too long since my Friday {this moment}. I miss looking back through our week and finding that one photo that stands out in some way. So welcome back!!

Obedience FHE

After General Conference Doug had a great idea for a lesson.
President Thomas S. Monson's talk on Obedience was the focus.

We had the girls watch as he told the story about the fire. And then we discussed it and asked them questions about it. Then we thought about what would have happened if he had been obedient and asked his parents to help him.

Then Doug had prepared chocolate covered marshmallows and chocolate covered onions. He gave them each 3 marshmallows and 1 onion and told them, "If you eat these (mallows) you will really like them, but if you eat this one (onion) it will not be good."

We left them to make their choices. Allie ate the mallows and then sat and stared at the onion (not knowing what it was). She was so obedient but wanted to eat it really bad! Here she is in serious thought about to eat or not to eat.

Katelyn just went for it and ate it right away. Allie's face is so funny. She couldn't believe Katelyn was not following the rules!

She was not too happy about it. We asked her if it was good and she just shook her head and said, "This is really tasty" (which means it's really bad).

 We told Allie she could try it if she wanted to and after seeing what happened to Katelyn she was like, Heck no!

On the Farm

Doug's parents recently moved into their dream home! They bought a farmhouse on 40 acres and can have their horses there with them. It's beautiful out there and it's a perfect place for them. We had fun seeing it, Doug helped with projects and we loved being around the horses. We are so thrilled for them. At the same time his brother's family is moving as well. It's a wonderful blessing for the whole family! We celebrated Logan and Jesse's birthdays as well. It was a fun weekend!

They even have a swimming pool!

Wednesday:

Had my alarm set for 5:40 and woke up at 5:30. That's always a little frustrating because those 10 minutes are precious. Taught Turbo Kick to some awesome ladies and we were all sweating buckets by the end. My abs are sore!!

Came home, hugged the hubs as he left for work and showered all the sweat away. Got ready for the day and made some yummy wheat, oatmeal, crasin muffins. Oh YUM! So much better than cereal. The girls got up, we ate breakfast and did hair. Side note: I'm so bad at doing hair and I have two girls. I hope they will forgive me someday.

We stopped by the elementary school to pick up this lovely packet...

Not. Possible. Dropped the girls off at preschool and play date. Kidless....

Did some errands and then met Doug for an early lunch date. Bliss. We hit up Great Harvest because we got a Groupon!! Groupons to my FAVORITE places never happen so this was a total surprise when it came in my email. Been saving it for when we could really enjoy it. And enjoy we did.

Picked the girls up and Allie had cute symmetrical butterfly wings on. First, they looked adorable and second, I was floored that they were learing that in Pre-K. Her teacher rocks!

She also made a cute little caterpillar out of egg cartons. Pretty proud girl right there. She insisted that we put it on the shelf in the living room. It might just take up residence there.

Lunch time. NAP time. Although neither of them actually slept. Ugh! I did fit in an episode of Alias and played some Ticket to Ride with Dan and Lisa.

When I got them out of their rooms...Polly Pockets were first on the adgenda.

There are just so many decisions. What's a girl to do?

Then her poor head pops off! Don't worry, we did some surgery and she's in recovery now.

Pollys were followed by Strawberry Shortcake race car driving. This picture is the best ever. I love it.

Then dad came home! WHOOP! We played outside for a little with the neighbors and then had dinner. One of our favorites and easiest meals. BBQ chicken Southwest Salad. We all gobbled it up while we read scriptures and then Doug did the dishes. Oh I'm a lucky lady!

My evening ended with Young Women's. We planned for activities and enjoyed this lovely sunset. One of the girls took this for me. :)

I'm grateful for today. No major tantrums and mostly good feelings. 

Easter

Doug's parents were blessed to buy the home of their dreams and so last Saturday Doug and his sister Mattie drove over to help them start moving in!!
We stayed and did a little egg hunt with my good friend Mallory and her girls. The kids were in heaven! We kept it simple and small, just the way it should be. Then we enjoyed the rest of our girl's day with playing outside, dinner at Cafe Rio and some "Wreck it Ralph."
Sunday was spent discussing and teaching about the glorious Resurrection. We watched a few Mormon Messages about it which really brought this gift to life for them. And we had a wonderful dinner with Mattie's family.
I'm truly grateful for the gift of the Resurrection...the someday our bodies will be reunited with our spirits in a perfect form.
