Happy Halloween!

The boys have been trick-or-treating 5 times already! The went 4 different times at school and our church had Trunk-or-treat last night. Here are some highlights...

Stop #1 - the Admin Bldg for our school district. These people gave our HUGE treat sacks and GOOD candy! Thank you CCISD!
This is trunk-or-treat at church. This year in addition to candy getting, we also had hot dogs. It was a wonderful addition to the evening! The kids got oodles more candy and had a BLAST with their friends!


On Thursday, the treated 3 times and went all over CCHS. Here we are with Mrs Edna!
Ready to go! In June, the boys decided they wanted to be Dirk and JJ. IN September I asked again and they did not waver one little bit. Thanks to internet, we were able to find matching REAL shorts and jerseys! And they are pretty big, so we will get years of wear out of them! GO MAVS!!!

Chill Bumps

We took a trip to Jackson, TN over the last 2 weeks to see my college roomie and her family. Photos coming!

The thing I wanted to blog about first though was the part of our trip that struck me the most... worshipping in another town. Beth's church has about double the membership of our congregation, but the rest was very similar... beautiful singing of praises to God, heartfelt prayers lifted to God, a message from the heart and most importantly, the Lord's Supper.

As we were sitting in the pews at 10:30 remembering Jesus on the cross, it struck me that my parents were doing the same thing at that moment, my best friend Flamingos at home and in the north were doing the same thing, my other HU roomie was doing the same thing in NM, the college kids I taught as teens were doing it. We were all thinking about God and thanking Him for sending His Son for us. We were all in awe of the pain Jesus endured for us. We were all focusing on Jesus tremendous love for mankind and each of our souls that He would be separated from God and endure death on the cross so that we can go to heaven. And it gave me chills.

As we sang a song after the Lord's Supper, it struck me that this was a taste of heaven... praising God in song with hundreds of souls that love Him too. And it made me excited to think of being there someday with all of my friends and family from all over the world - praising God for all of eternity.

Dewberry Farm - Part 2

This was the boys favorite attraction - The Black Hole. It was SO weird and made your equalibrium all out of whack.You walk through twisty,extremely narrow tunnels until you get to a big open room. Inside the room is a rotating tunnel that has Indian glow-in-the-dark paintings and black lights. There was a handrail, and if it had not been there, I would have fallen over! It made you lean drastically to one side (like the V8 commericals!). Then you turn out of the first rotating tunnel and enter a second rotating tunnel. It was crazy weird, but the boys loved it! hahaha



Then we were off to the Pig Races. We have never seen the pig races, so it was extra fun! All the pigs had funny names, like Lindsey Loham, Sir Porks-a-lot, Kevin Bacon, etc. They did two races and it was so fun to cheer them on. Jacob was rooting for the pig with the extra curly tail.

After that we toured the barn. Since the pig race was right by the barn, lots of other folks were in the barn too, so we did not stay too long.

Jacob and Rylan were both looking forward to the Rubber Ducky Races. They pumped like crazy and giggled and giggled!


A tradition...

Cornball - Talk about CRAZY! The wind was quite strong and it blew that big cornball all over the place and even out the gate! The boys had MORE fun trying to hit it. Look at those dimples!


Bottle Blaster - Rylan's fave thing. This machine gun thingy shot filled water bottles at the Halloween shape targets. He hit 2-4!



This was new this year - and the boys wore it out! It was free, so they slide a million times!

Due to the drought, I expected the flower patch to be pitiful, but it was gorgeous!!!

The patch! My fave part! It was so nice this year because the boys posed and we did not have to take 75 photos in hopes of one being decent! Thank you boys!!!




Rylan was determined to carry his pumpkin the trek back to the pay stand. He lasted about 10 yards.


That's our 4th year in a nutshell! Can't wait to go back next year!

Dewberry Farm - Part 1

Every fall since 2008, we have ventured north to visit Dewberry Farm for the day. This year we sprung the extra $19 per kid for the all-access pass bracelet. Even though it was expensive, the boys were old enough and it was worth the hours of fun!!! Here they are by the coolest Indian statues ever outside of Fort Dewhickey.The hayloft was so fun! They swung and fell dozens of times.



The free roller slide was Rylan's fave ride. He would go "o-o-o-o-o-oo--o" all the way down it. In fact, he came back to the slide three or four times!
This was the first year we did the ZipLine. HUGE HIT!!! THey stayed here about 20 minutes. Jason and I were worn out from pushing them since they were not quite tall enough to get a running start. It was so fun to watch their joyful faces.



Usually the barrel train is awesome, but the wind today made it "yucky." Jacob was very sad and upset about the dust in his eyes.
This Sliiiiiiide Mountain was new and a HUGE hit with the boys! They climbed up the side of the huge hill then slid down on potato sacks. They did this four different times during the day.
The new fave... the Corn Cannon! They each got to shoot 9 ears of corn at the targets. Jason helped a little and all 3 of them loved it!

Had to have some jumping time...
